Yay, NAIDOC Round! Love NAIDOC round. Love NAIDOC Week. Happy to be hosting the mighty marsupials at The Paddock. Darraweit is located on the border of Wathaurong and Wurundjeri land, and is thought to mean "the meeting of the waters" in the local Indigenous language. At least three of our Indigenous players will line up for the Guim this week - Shane Edwards, Michael Walters and the newly-arrived Jed Anderson - as we look to find a winning mix of players. But, for starters, we have a ruckman playing tonight: R - Buzza (no emergency). Rest of the team will be named tomorrow.
Cradle Mountain Devils provisional Round 14 2018 team vs Larrikin Lagoon Lefties In: N Vlastuin, D Menzel (new) Out: B Cox(omitted), A McDonald-Tipungwuti (omitted) Def: M Hurley, P Seedsman, N Vlastuin, H Himmelberg (B Cox) Mid: S Pendlebury, D Heppell, D Zorko, J Redden (J Hopper) Ruck: T Nankervis Fwd: J Gresham, T Membrey, T Lynch, D Menzel (A McDonald-Tipungwuti) Int: Z Jones, J Steele (J Roughead) The Devils played their best game of the season last weekend to score 1,417 and defeat the Foul Bay Chickens by 67 points. After having a record of two wins and five losses to languish in 13th position the Devils have won five of their past six games to improve to 7-6 and be just outside the eight in ninth position. Nick Vlastuin returns from suspension to strengthen the backline and mid-season draft pick Daniel Menzel makes his CMD debut in the forward line. Brennan Cox and AMT have been omitted with the duo named as emergencies in the backline and forward line respectively for the clash with the Lefties.
Dropping like flies........Hoppers Round 14 team: DEF: Shaz - Hardwick - JKolo - Rice (Rayner OOP) MID: Adams - Neale - Cripps - Curnow (Sier) FWD: Curnow - Billings - Martin - Milera (Cox) RCK: Grundy I/C: Fisher - McClugg (Powell)
Lefties going for 3 quad scores on the trot. What’s the chances of Cameron getting a gig? SFA I suspect, but we have hope. Def - Brayshaw, McKenzie, Duryea, Cole (O’Riordan) Mid- Ross, Phillips, Berry, Weller (Ainsworth) Ruck - Cameron (Matho) Fwd - Simpkin, Hayward, Langford, Gowers (Shipley) IC - Daicos, Dumont
ow, ouch, whine, ouch - please stop kicking me @jimbowan. Its only Friday morning and my butt is sore already. When did you acquire a playing ruck who scores well?
Misfits are fired up for Venus Bay, burning effigy level fired up.. DEFENDER Jake Lloyd, Daniel Rich, Jimmy Webster, Adam Tomlinson - Nick Haynes MIDFIELDER Josh Kelly, Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield, Marc Murphy - Stefan Giro RUCK Patrick Ryder FORWARD Devon Smith, Tim Taranto, Orazio Fantasia, Caleb Daniel - Daniel Venables INTERCHANGE Hugh Greenwood, Tom Hickey - Matthew Kennedy
HAHA early days mate, the Stanley/Vardy combo was mocked earlier this year and management responded by cutting Vardy who was Stanley's room mate at the time and shacking him up instead with newly acquired Scott D. Thompson who has quickly sorted out Stanley was sitting up all night watching re-runs of Downton Abbey which was understandably affecting his performances. Thomo now wakes him up every 60 minutes for push ups and an ice bath where he is then forced to run naked on a quick lap of the Knob Quarry while being chased by a chained (also naked) Will Minson (who we have retained long term for our training regime of fear) and we are pleased to say that Rhys has a new outlook on footy now and we re reaping the rewards.
Blimps for Round 14: Ins: Buzza (not for long, one would suggest), Byrne-Jones, Adams, Astbury Out: Lewis, May, Rance DEF: Savage, Adams, Rance, Astbury (Aliir) MID: Cogs, Lyons, Walters, Edwards (Newnes) RUCK: Buzza FWD: Gunston, Brown, Caddy, Anderson I/C: Goddard, Byrne-Jones (Lewis) I've quite enjoyed my week with a ruckman, one might suggest to Mr Scott that while he might have the correct structure in running two "talls" at Geelong, the personnel may not be right. By the by, Mr Buzza will almost certainly be the sacrificial lamb next week. Meanwhile, we're running six forwards and five defenders this week, none of whom are named "Rance" or "May". I get the feeling I might chicken out and include one of them before gametime (and hence update this post), but for now, my ability to run without them may lead to some interesting trade possibilities in the coming offseason. UPDATE: Yep, chickened out. Rance has come in for Aliir.
Battlers team for round 14 DEF: Witherden, Ryan, Doedee, Cutler MID: Hunter, Cerra, L McDonald, Sheed (half a Robertson) RUCK: Witts (Crossley) FWD: T McDonald, Taylor, Ronke, Weller (Turner) IC: Clarke, Hipwood (McKay)
The Cows to line up against last weeks' top scoring team - the Knobs (1452) - who now have MacRae and Darling available - hmmm. D - J McGovern, M Hibberd, D Gardiner, H Morrison (R Burton) M - T Mitchell, D Prestia, D Thomas, D Howe R - S Jacobs F - S Menegola, T Papley, M Robinson, J Dunkley (B Parfitt) I - T McLean, N Newman (M Apeness)
Gariwerd team for Indigenous round, following @chris88 lead, Gariwerd is home to the Jardwadjali to the north/west and Djab Wurrung to the south/east. The Jardwadjali mob is who Tom Wills learnt the game of Marn Grook from before adapting it into the first written rules of Aussie Rules Football. The first Australian cricket team to tour internationally was also made up of Jardwadjali mob. The Gariwerd Cockatoos still play a marn grook gamestyle today in the ORFFA, with an emphasis on high marks, long and high kicks and keeping the ball off the opposition. We are proud to host @Jen and the Lovely Banks Lilacs on this important weekend in our culture. We have swung the changes after a shock loss last week to Marble Bar! With four players going out of the side, most notably Harry Taylor and Allen Christensen have been dropped completely, whereas Tuohy and Selwood have been named as emergencies. Grant Birchall comes into the side for the third week in a row! One of these days he will actually pull on the boots and get out there and help the team. Josh Jenkins is waiting in the wings this week in case Birchall misses late again. Similarly, Sam Murray has been named for his debut game with the club for the second week running, with the match commitee deciding if he can get a game, he might do better than Tuohy. But Tuohy goes alright if needed anyway. Gariwerd team: In: Sam Murray, Bachar Houli, Grant Birchall, Chris Masten (and possibly Josh Jenkins if Birchall misses again) Out: Zach Tuohy, Harry Taylor, Allen Christensen, Scott Selwood. New: Sam Murray D: Rory Laird, Shannon Hurn, Sam Murray, Bachar Houli (Zach Tuohy) M: Matt Crouch, Jack Steven, Touk Miller, Nathan Jones (Ryan Griffen) R: Tom Bellchambers F: Mitch Wallis, Kane Lambert, Chad Wingard, Grant Birchall (Josh Jenkins) I: Chris Masten, Tom Rockliff (Scott Selwood)
Nuffers line up In Simpson, Out Joyce Luke Brown was the only player to play prior to the full lockout taking effect I certainly hope I can continue the trend @ChiefRussell, however as year to date averages favour the home side by around 80ppg, I reckon my chances are slim unless one of your Kangaroos midfielders are a late withdrawal and you cop a donut due to loopholing.
Well I am done. So many good players having absolute shockers. The wet weather in Perth has just ensured the loss with Walters simply not a wet weather contested footballer. Congrats to the Wombats, and as for my mob, no votes to anyone this week. Bloody ordinary effort.
Finally broke the run of 1400s with a 1523, somewhat unexpected considering Kreuz went down with a 20 on Friday night! Having Greene back helps, here's hoping the lads can keep their form up when it really matters...
My turn to do the review this week, but I probably wont get to it until Wednesday night I think. Sorry.
