Likewise sNOz, the injury bug just keeps on tightening its grip. This time last year there were +something like 21 available cows - this week 16. At least it means we can charter a smaller plane and it is less likely the decisions about who to play will be wrong. Off to Cradle Mountain to play Dean's mob; hoping rather than expecting a win to (almost) secure a home final. D - J McGovern, D Gardiner, R Burton, H Morrison* M - T Mitchell, T McLean, D Thomas, D Howe (B Parfitt) R - S Jacobs F - M Robinson, S Menegola, J Dunkley, T Papley I - N Newman, D Prestia
Ins: Lewis, Aliir, perhaps Abbott but more likely Davis x 0.5 Outs: Caddy, DBJ, Buzza DEF: Savage, Rance, Adams, Aliir (May) MID: Coniglio, Lyons, Lewis, Walters (Newnes) RUCK: NFI but possibly Abbott (most likely Davis) FWD: Brown, Gunston, Edwards, Anderson (Caddy) I/C: Astbury, Goddard Reluctantly giving Goddard a game, Caddy injured even though no-one will admit it (and he keeps playing). Hoskin-Elliott not able to be considered, Newnes unlucky, Ballard showing good signs, and rucks - ha ha ha ha, that's a funny one. I guess though I had a choice between a functioning ruckman and doing the trade that ended up netting me Caddy, as well as helping me get Gunston and Savage. Those three have been bloody good, and I was sort of planning further afield than this season ... I wasn't expecting to still be in the hunt for finals or even close to finals right now. I say in the hunt because a precipitous fall awaits if I don't win one of the next couple! Let's see what happens with ruckmen and player positioning in the off-season ... there's likely to be trades.
Well lookie here, 15 actual live players... Welcome - Cameron and Worpel Def - Brayshaw, McKenzie, O/Riordan, Cole (Duryea) Mid - Ross, Phillips, Berry, Worpel (Weller) Ruck - Cameron Fwd - Simpkin, Hayward, Langford, Gowers I/C - Dumont, Matho
Nuffers side for Round 15 as we host the Lefties @That KI Guy In - Joyce (playing oop ruck) Out - NicNat 3 emergencies named in the AFL this week although Menadue is oop as D5
Misfits to take on the Cavemen; DEFENDERS Jake Lloyd, Jimmy Webster, Daniel Rich, Nick Haynes MIDFIELDERS Josh Kelly, Callan Ward, Lachie Whitfield, Marc Murphy - Matthew Kennedy RUCKS Tom HICKEY FORWARDS Devon Smith, Tim Taranto, Orazio Fantasia, Caleb Daniel - Daniel Venables INTERCHANGE Hugh Greenwood, Adam Tomlinson - Stefan Giro
Battlers team for round 15 DEF: Witherden, Ryan, Doedee, Cutler MID: Hunter, Cerra, L McDonald, Sheed (half a Clarke) RUCK: Witts (Crossley) FWD: T McDonald, Taylor, Ronke, Weller (Battle) IC: Robertson, Hipwood (McKay)
My key intercept defender playing a forward tagging role. Three touches to half time. What the hell? Not going to be the difference between winning and losing, but dear god, it makes it hard to choose a competitive ORFFA team each week.
In a very similar boat mate. Going to be a huge battle to stay in the eight from here on in with half a ruckman - even if Cogs gives me 150s.
Fielding a full side was part of the Lefties @That KI Guy problem and playing a slightly more mediocre side was the other part. Barely 2100 points between the two full sides meant the Nuffers ended up refunding ticket costs and providing a free six pack to all paying spectators. Some were still grumbling that the only thing worse as a spectacle would be a 15 a side February Carlton interclub with Patty Cripps, Marc Murphy, the Curnow brothers and Kade Simpson sitting out so that all the other players felt slightly less crap.
