The final 2018 ORFFF home and away round is upon us. As the TS Leagues ladder is currently still counting round 6 scores twice I have compiled the following to show where each side stands prior to the round commencing in case ladder positions come down to points scored. Here are the week's matches with teams currently in the top 8 underlined Black Swamp 29ers (10-4) vs Neptune Island Noahs (12-1-1) 3rd plays the minor premier, however the 29ers must win to secure a spot in the top four with the Atoms and Boozers lurking in 5th and 6th. Jan Juc Ducks (7-7) vs Mt Thirsty Boozers (9-5) Both sides have won 4 of the last 5, with the Boozers chasing top 4 and the Ducks needing another W to ensure that they finish in the top 8. Maralinga Atoms (9-4-1) vs Macquarie Island Whales (5-9) If Maralinga can defeat the Whales they are a strong chance to finish top 4. Drouin Dropbears (6-8) vs Walpole Woylies (8-6) Barring a Ducks forfeit this will be season over for the twice runners up Dropbears due to their low points scored. They take on a Woylies side that is 1st for points scored for the season but will be tuning up for a sudden death elimination final in week 1 of finals. Wedge Island White Pointers (3-11) vs Rutherglen Fugitives (10-4) Wedge Island's consecutive wins has them narrowly above the Power and just behind the Glow-Worms in the triangular wooden spoon battle while the Fugs need a win to secure a top 4 spot. Useless Loop Virgins (10-4) vs Mole Creek Glow-Worms (3-11) The home side are favourites to defeat a Mole Creek side that are much improved post the midseason break and are looking to claim a win in their final match of the season and avoiud consecutive wooden spoons. Port Lincoln Power (3-11) vs Cockburn Avengers (7-7) The Power need to either break their 9 match losing streak or score well while losing to avoid the aforementioned wooden spoon while the Avengers need a win and a Ducks loss to Mt Thirsty to secure a place in the finals. Nangkita Bucks (4-10) vs Heard Island Shags (5-9) In the only "dead rubber" match from a finals perspective a Nangkita win would see them overtake the Shags on the ladder while Heard Island look to leapfrog the Whales to conclude the 2018 season. As always, good luck all !
Great write up TTH! It's been a really interesting season and great to see some final day intrigue! Mole Creek looking to get one more win to close out the season and really begin to build a winning culture at the club. Head coach Clint Bizzell will be likely looking to bring in a Luke Hodge style on-field coach next season to shepherd our promising kids.
Black Swamp (Round 15 - AFL19) In - Jonas, Bont, Hayward Out - Cutler, Cordy, JDG Geary Jonas Hardwick SDT - Cordy D Beams Duckwood Bont S Higgins - S Hill Westhoff Hooker S Edwards Hayward - Gallucci C Sinclair - no emg R Henderson Grigg - Roughead (WB) The 29ers make another swag of changes as they host the 2018 minor premiers and attempt to score enough points to maintain a lead on the Virgins and Boozers on points scored for 2018. Actually winning this week is Plan Z and a remote possibility unless @That KI Guy mimics Ross The Boss of seasons past and plays the Noahs second stringers in the final home and away round.
At least finals are in our own hands - win and in basically! And what better way to do it than against MTB who knocked the Ducks out of the finals last year. Although it would be strangely disappointing if the worst happens to see the team in 8th with 3000 less points than us!
The Avengers spent 6 weeks not being able to field a full team, so points for describes the season to date, not the team potential. Interesting week for sure

So the Darcy Cameron experiment lasted on week. This week we'll try Grundy (Heath not Brodie unfortunately), aim have some sort of influence on the top 8 and finish the season on a high. Doedee is still wandering somewhere near the southwest tip of the island so he is out, in their infinite wisdom one of our best performers from last week in Armitage has been omitted by our selectors, so he is out too. We welcome back Tex Walker who has promised not to get caught trying to knock out his teammates again and Sam Murray who somehow is coming 5th in the Rising star despite not playing for 1/2 the season. Good luck to the Atoms @Brett Sanders as you take on such a fearsome team! Def: Zach Tuohy, Marcus Adams, Sam Murray, David Astbury (Michael Johnson) Mid: Josh P. Kennedy, Dayne Zorko, Will Hoskin-Elliott, James Harmes (Nick Holman) Ruc: Health Grundy* Fwd: Josh Caddy, Toby McLean, Kane Lambert, Dale Thomas (Jarman Impey) Int: Taylor Walker, Alex Neal-Bullen (David Armitage)
Round 15/19 Fugitives Team v Wedge Island @Bearfly In: Hodge Out: Rampe D - Harbrow, Hodge, Salem, Macmillan (Rampe) M - Cotchin, Cunnington, Pendlebury, Shiel (Sheed) R - Martin F - Gunston, Parish, Watts, Langford (Wood) I - Macrae, Goddard (Bonner)
Round 19 Team - Useless Loop Virgins Def: Kade Simpson, Shannon Hurn, Steven May, Brennan Cox (Thomas Cole) Mid: Lachie Neale, Tom Phillips, Isaac Smith, Jared Polec (Nicholas Coffield) Ruck: Rhys Stanley Fwd: Robbie Gray, David Mundy, Jodh J Kennedy, Josh Schache (Jacob Townsend) Int: Mark Hutchings, James Worpel (Josh Battle)
Ducks team hot off the press, these are the 15 to take us to finals! DEF: T McDonald, Crisp, Rich, Sheridan (Henderson) MID: Ablett, Zaharakis, N Jones, Lewis (Stringer) RUC: Grundy FWD: Hawkins, Wallis, Boak, Robinson (Jenkins) INT: Atkins, Lycett (Ronke)
Ducks 1089/11 leading the Boozers 774/9. Some big scores for both sides so far with Grundy 157, Hawkins 151 and Ablett 134 leading the way for the Ducks, but Murphy 152 mounting a fight back for the Boozers with the Mitchell factor still to come. If memory serves the Ducks held a rather large margin in the finals matchup last year over the Boozers but a massive Sunday scoring turned the tables which hopefully doesn't happen again! Sheridan, Boak, Wallis and Lycett vs Luke McDonald, Tom Mitchell, Rockliff, Ryder, Ben Brown and Jamie Cripps. Keeping a sneaky eye on the other top 8 defining match too which I believe is PLP 634/8 vs CBA 1022/13
The visiting Noahs @That KI Guy are 13/1075 with a handy lead over the hometown 29ers 8/689. Black Swamp have SDT, Higgins, Jonas, Bont and Westhoff playing in the early Sunday games against Gaff and Hunter for the 2018 minor premiers. Hardwick and Henderson are unopposed in the final game of the round and the 29ers will want to have reduced the Noahs lead to a low enough number to keep themselves in with a chance of overhauling them in the final stages.
The Virgins are on 517/5 103.4 to the Glow-Worms on 1,063/12 88.6 With some impressive scores from the visitors especially Corn Boy Cripps the Virgins have their work cut out for themselves, here's to the chase! @ViQBoZ
The coach is to blame for the Boozers loss. With Daw’s 110 and Trengove’s 156 both sitting wasted as emergencies.
Black Swamp have failed to chase down the Noahs @That KI Guy total as the minor premiers notch yet another win. The 29ers await news of the results of the games at Maralinga and Useless Loop to confirm our final finishing position and week 1 finals opponents.
