Don’t take it personally @choppers - I know you’re a Suns man but Barlow and Ainsworth have both been named EMG the last 2/3 weeks. Is that just “smoke and shadows behind the mirror” then - as the great former Blowfly nuffy Trav Cloke would say?... Barlow has been screwed over by the Suns. I doubt he signed up to be a “mentor” while getting 50 touches in the NEAFL every week. Just had to accept a lifeline after Freo decided to rebuild. I really hope they do the right thing and delist him to give him a chance to jump on a contenders list in the twilight of his career.
How can I not take it personally, when the Club, of which I'm a Foundation Member , is being accused of tanking. And as far as the other stuff goes, that is your opinion and you're entitled to it. I just don't agree with it. Don't believe anything you read in the papers and only half what you witness. @Mick
The Bunyips are looking forward to re-writing the history books - albeit for all the wrong reasons Once I am comfortable that its a record I can hold for the years to come, the boys will switch on and start winning!
Vikings 1350 def by Blowflies 1358 @Mick Down at 'Odens Graveyard' both teams managed to post 6 ton's in which a few monster scores were posted. These scores kept the home team in the match. A tale of Blowflies lucky to win or Vikings unlucky to lose, all it came down to was an OPP in Tucker 24 and another injury to Greene 18 which inevitability cost us the win. Without a full squad for much of the season it has really been a two man show for Nuytsland in Mitchell and Grundy carrying the team, but it has been a carbon copy of last season with injuries cruel-ling the team for the run home and a first premiership out of our reach. Taking nothing away from Blowflies , they blew there way in and buzzed around and today the fly was quicker than the blade. 3 Grundy 168 ( Big Tap ) 2 Ross 158 1 Michell 153 Hundreds: Vikings Brodie Grundy (168): Huge in Q2… 57 hit outs… also 24 possessions and 3 marks plus 4 tackles… 1.2 as well. Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,239 defeated Eden Whalers 1,092 The equation is simple for the Cudas, win and a top 4 finish to the season will occur. But nothing ever easy in footy, especially coming off a season high score the week before. The Whalers have their own troubles, especially in the injury column. As for each home game the oval is tender to with great care it’s the biggest advance a club has. The home team’s confidence took a dent with the late out of Stanley to a calf injury so young Berry will fight it out with Cordy for the big tap. Waite has put his hand up to play but is it too early for this giant? For the Whalers how will young Banfield handle the pressure. It was an even match up to start with, the Whalers Jenkins did as he please in front of the big sticks, bagging the first goal of the game and kicking two more late in the day, whilst Lynch played of half forward but was kept quiet by Lloyd and Frawley, with the later playing a lock down role. Riewoldt kicked four for the day as he sat in the gaols square, Cripps of the Jamie variety was hot running off the wing slotting four himself as he ran rings around Andrews and Tarrant. For the visitors Crisp was sensational as he took mark after mark in front of Hawkins and Waite just looked slow out there today. Off the bench for the Cudas was Lewis, making the opposition pay each time they slipped up, while the running machine Burgoyne collected as many free kicks as possible. This was not the same for the Whalers, Motlop played the outside role and Trengrove chopped out were he could but ultimately didn’t meet the coach’s expectation. The middle was fast and furious, as the Cudas played the paddock with familiarity. Zorko the magnificent had 35v possessions plus bagging couple as he ran through the middle time and time again. Corn boy Cripps played the inside corridor beautifully collecting free kick as he went, while the Bont started sluggish but turned it around in the fourth quarter as he switched it up, up forward bagging four big ones. The pace for young Banfield was too hot, he had no idea if he was coming or going. Edward scissors hands was valuable for the visitors as was Jones who flanked Atkins all day as he had the ball on a string. Too many passengers for the visitors, @HOLKY will gather his team for the holidays where they will need to come up with something special for season 2019. For the Barracudas the win will mean they wrap up 4th place on the ladder. They will need to re-group, get the wellness group back in to rev up Stanley, they will also look at players that are pushing for selection in the likes of Guthrie, Turner and Berry.
