@tyze1 well done to the Fugitives, the Virgin’s gave it a good crack however Salem close the door today.

Got a lot closer in the end than expected with 14.5 players (you had one job, Lids). Good season but never had the luck with matchups and players performing at right time.

Good luck those left in finals.

Noahs finally get found out with a spanking from the Atoms.
To add insult, Gaff has been caught texting his travel agent at half time. Who on earth books a holiday in the middle of ORFFF finals?!
Some big decisions at selection table this week as we tackle the Ducks in sudden death.

Not sure if I’m meant to be intimidated or relieved by this?

Congrats to all 4 week 1 finals winners and especially @thokash for his thoroughly deserved win which put the 29ers out of their misery following a terrible finish to the season, and also @Brett Sanders who disposed of the minor premiers with a whopping all time highest club score (1459). and missed the all time highest finals score by only 8 points.

Rutherglen and Maralinga rest up this week while 4 sides clash with all finals now sudden death - may the best teams win

ORFFF 2018 Finals week 2 - Semi Final 1 - Neptune Island Noahs (3-1-1 W/L and 1345 ppg average over last 5 matches) vs Jan Juc Ducks (5-0 and 1354 ppg)

    Previous clashes
Rd 12 2016 – Jan Juc Ducks 1289 defeated by Neptune Island Noahs 1331
Rd 8 2017 - Neptune Island Noahs 1071 defeated by Jan Juc Ducks 1233 - the Noahs lowest ever score
SF 2017 – Jan Juc Ducks 1390 defeated Neptune Island Noahs 1206
Rd 6 2018 - Neptune Island Noahs 1420 defeated Jan Juc Ducks 1381 – equal 8th highest aggregate match in ORFFF history (and 2nd highest this season)

These 2 sides matched up in the 2017 Semi Finals and on that occasion the Ducks ended the Noahs defence of the 2016 title. Neptune Island met a dominant Maralinga side last week and will be keen to atone against a Ducks side that easily swept aside the 29ers last start. The ORFFF H2H is tied 2-2 (excluding the Ducks ORFF* Champions League victory in Round 8, 2017) which is a credit to the Ducks given the Noahs imposing 40-10-1 W-L-D record to date in the ORFFF’s first 3 seasons. The Noahs are my tip as I feel they are too classy to join the 2016 29ers in going out of finals in straight sets.

ORFFF Finals week 2 - Semi Final 2 - Useless Loop Virgins (3-2 and 1232 ppg) vs Mt Thirsty Boozers (3-2 and 1331 ppg)
    Previous clashes
Rd 8 2016 – Mt Thirsty Boozers 1323 defeated by Useless Loop Virgins 1474 - the Virgins highest ever score and the 10th highest aggregate match in ORFFF history
Rd 9 2017 – Useless Loop Virgins 1177 defeated by Mt Thirsty Boozers 1250
Rd 5 2018 – Mt Thirsty Boozers 1188 defeated by Useless Loop Virgins 1252

Mt Thirsty disposed of their near neighbours Walpole last week in a tight WA derby contest played in the right spirit. They continue their 2017 title defence a little further down the road this week as they take on their rivalry round arch rivals. The clash will be the Virgins first home final after playing 5 away finals in 3 seasons. Domination of travelling sides in previous head to head as well as the Boozers superior recent form has me tipping the reigning premiers despite the Virgins leading 2-1 in the H2H ledger.

Noahs back for another groundhog final vs our nemesis.

    Toughest selection all year.

No Gaff and likely a defender short (fingers crossed Hunt gets the nod)
A cloud over Gawn doesn't bode well either.

Def - Laird, Haynes, Morrison, Hunt (Menzel oop)
Mid - Ross, Sidey, Hunter, Tyson (Ahern)
    Ruck - Gawn (Florent oop)
Fwd - Lynch, Hewett, Thomas, Smith (Taylor)
    IC - Sloane, Greenwood

Ok, think we have comfortably undersold ourselves.

Best of luck to all finalists.
Except @thokash. No luck for you.

Boozers already in trouble here, with all 5 last night spudding. First ever finals loss now looks a real chance.
5-347 averaging less than 70 per player

The Virgins haven’t got there yet and the Boozers are on 337/5 67.4

@leematty1 has mentioned not a great start for the visitors but at a score is on the board.

The Virgins are 796/11 72.4 and the Boozers are on 817/11 74.3

@leematty1 Both teams are well down on their normal performances with the boggy & slippery ground.

The visitors have Mr Ed, Murph, Buddy & Brown, while the locals have Simo, Neale, Mundy & Schache to come

Noahs 969/10 leading Ducks 1027/11 in a high scoring affair, either team would comfortably be winning the other semi.

Hunt, Hunter, Tyson, Gawn and Hewett vs T McDonald, Wallis, N Jones and Lewis - plenty to happen in the Demons match with 3 each. No Blues or Dockers either so we will know the result at the end of that match,
