Would really like to draft a homeboy or two at this pick but at some stage I will need a ruck who is not either perennially injured or a complete potato. So here goes.

Pick 26 Kieren Briggs (GWS Ruck)

    @walesy you be next

Ok, gunna go with the other side of the Fort coin. He's over his injury, spurned off offers from other clubs and some other reason why this is a good choice.

    Pick 27: Ryan Abbott (Gee)

He's been alerted on twitter. 9.40pm ORFFL HQ time (some rusty shed in outback Victoria) is the autopick deadline of Adam Kennedy, @TerryinBangkok / @snoz

I am interested in why drafting rules appear to be strictly enforced when the delisting and trading rules were not.

Could you please inform me why?

Without speaking for anyone else that may actually come from a position of power, the obvious points:

    1) coaches gets a chance to commit to the season/draft ahead of time
    2) everyone knows the 12 hour time limit and has in the past agreed that checking into TS once or twice a day is doable
    3) coaches are encouraged if they know they will be out of action to send a pick order to any other coach

In short, the draft is and needs to be a lot more structured than delist/trading deadlines just in its very nature. The ORFFL really is pretty lax (in a good way) and will be flexible where we can be, but that just would not work for a draft trying to complete by the start of AFL season

    ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Who wants to be drafting into Easter.

Any monkey can work out when this will occur thanks to timestamps, and it was agreed upon before and has helped keep draft running in the past.

If someone rushes in with a pick 10 minutes after a deadline has passed I'm not sure there's going to be too many people here kicking up a fuss that it not be accepted.

Sorry thokash, what you describe as "the obvious points" are not so obvious to me.

"Everone knows" - well, we all new the delisting deadline. Coaches committed, to 2019, but at the first hurdle they fell over. To me it is plain inconsistent to now say let's invoke the rules. The delsting rules were going to be worked round; e.g. "we cannot auto delist Docherty" that woulchd not be what the coach wants.

I am one of those most affected by the draft ending. I have 2 very late picks, so please do not speak for me. BTW, "we" imples consensus. I am not picking on you thokash, I anm just commenting on different interpretations. I am all for moving forward, I just want to understand why. Anyway, I asked and I got an answer.

PS: I applaud Lucas's approach to keeping things moving. The draft would be a lot more enjoyable if other non-regular loggers in adopted the same principle.

What alternatives to keeping a draft moving forward is there? This is an issue that came up before (2017 draft iirc) and so we changed the deadline from 24hr to the current rules, which since has worked out well in following drafts in keeping the draft moving forward when we've had to autopick for teams.

Unless you're arguing for no rules to be applied at all during the Draft to be "consistent" and so we finish whenever we finish I'm not really sure what your point is here. We have to work with what we have.

Thanks for the Pick number correction and yes, you're right in regards to coaches having pick lists they should send to people if they know they're going to be away for a while and their pick is coming up.

My thoughts would be that while not consistent, we waited long enough to get all our coaches back (and have a happy competition) rather than dismantling a team because of ‘the rules’ (resulting in a coach most likely not giving a #*%& any more).

Now we have a full group on board it’s time to push so the draft finishes on time
