After a hectic month or so, I've finally had a chance to look at the ORFFU history books to see how the past 4 weeks compare.

    Round 5
    • Hughenden's score of 1,093 against Eden was the lowest winning score in their club history.
    Round 7
    • Round 7 saw an ending to the longest losing streak in the FU with Blanchetown recording their first win since Round 17, 2017. The final count was 27 losses in a row.
    • We saw a cracker of a match between Korumburra and Groote. The total match score of 2,750 points was the 18th best in FU history.
    Round 8
    • Last weekend saw the 3rd lowest scoring match ever, between King Island and a severely depleted Christmas Island. A total of 1,717 points were scored. Christmas Islands' score of 672 was the 5th lowest ever, the lowest in their club history, and the 419 point loss was the worst for the club.
    • Nuytsland's club record 7 game winning streak came to an end at the hands of Groote. At the same time, Groote ended their club record 3 game losing streak.
    • Eden (12), Pakenham (10) and Coolgardie (6) are currently in the midst of their longest club losing streaks. Eden's streak is the equal 4th longest in FU history, Pakehnham's equal 9th longest.

    Round 8: AA vs SB
After a hardcore man-flu swept through the playing group as well as the coaching staff, locals were fearful for the Armadillos against the might of the Buffalo this week.
The forward line of Ararat tried to use this to their advantage however, claiming they had been suffering from this ailment all year. The board was having none of it however and the carousel at selection committee continues.
Back to the game and 2 out of 3 superstars shone for Serengeti - Merrett posting 129 and Josh Kelly a 154 if you dont mind! Danger wasnt so and was Bevan-esque with his 99.
Jeremy Cameron had an off day with a Brent Harvey (29 for those unfamiliar) and Langdon only managed 10 better in defense; this however far eclipsed young Ridley who didnt show up at all!
My BOG was definitely Elliott who battled against Gawn in the ruck and still got to 30.

The home side had more of the same: Solid backline averaging 90-odd each. 2 mids go ok and 2 mids fail (special mention for Bowes who had a good time ;) ). The Beard raised the bat. The forwards largely failed.

All told, Ararat 1180 vs Serengeti 1095.

    Cheers WB

Unfortunately the stresses and riggers of ORFFU for Tom Boyd took it's toll even with a fresh start at the Cuda's.
His retirement has come as a shock however the silver lining is that the Cuda's will definitely be participating in this years MSD.

Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,185 defeated by Pearcedale Panthers 1,247

Very late match report, apologies but the player rooms were in lockdown for the week in fear of the players being lynched for another choking effort.

Quick summary, Hughenden were in complete control with Oliver (175) unstoppable through the middle, well supported by Yeo (115), Battle (114) and Shiels (100) but the rest of the side was caught napping with the Panthers purring away to an easy win in the last quarter through the defensive efforts of the old fellow Shaw (144) and Savage (104) in the backline with the midfield in control despite the injury to ruckman Nankervis (32). The Panthers midfield of Parker (114) and Hunter (113) able to provide easy delivery into the forward line for Caddy (102) and Melksham (82) doing as they pleased.

Another disappointing effort from Hughenden and they look forward to a better effort next week, the injury to Nankervis will make it a tough game next week for the Panthers but winning form is good form.

    BAFFU Awards
    3 Oliver (175) – HPD
    2 Shaw (144) - PP
    1 Yeo (115) - HPD

Well, if you're going to be short on players @DamoH you should make sure that the ones that turn up, put in a bloody good performance!

    1/9th
    Coolgardie: 118 / 3 / 39.3 (1 donut)
    Christmas Island: 338 / 3 / 112.7

Clubhouse leader S Hurn on 161

Now 4/9th through in the gold fields @DamoH and its not looking much better for the home side

    Coolgardie: 424 / 8 / 53.0
    Christmas Island: 428 / 4 / 107.0

Coolgardie with 6 confirmed starters (assuming no late changes) still to come.
Christmas Island with 7 confirmed starters still to come.

The Budgies could win the impossible here!

Two thirds of the way through the match and the hometown Sandgropers (1120/12/93) lead @insider ’s Armadillos (1060/10/106) by 60 points in a very high scoring shootout. Ararat look right in the frame to maintain their perfect record against Southern Cross with the visitors needing their 5 players to out score the home side’s 3 by 61 points to take the win. Who knows, stranger things have happened.

    Go ‘Gropers!

At the Dino Dome, Hughenden are smashing the Bulls with every player so far doubling their score.

    Hughenden 1,758/20/88
    Bulls 805/10/81

Plenty of time for Hughenden to choke in the last 3/9ths of the game which seems to be a common thread to their season.

Heading into the last 3/9th's, it's the Blowflys holding a massive 487 point lead on home soil over the visiting Crocs.

    KB 966 / 11 / 88
    COW 479 / 7 / 68

Some big late outs in this one with the Blowflys top averaging midfielder JPK and the Crocs highest averaging forward DeGoey both missing. Florent (KB) and Ceglar (COW) getting the last minute call ups.

It's blowing a gale here at the Terrordome and the visitors will be kicking with a massive wind advantage on the run home.

    Still to come -
KB - Vlastuin, D. Howard, Ainsworth and Miles
COW - Taranto, Hopper, Worpel, Lycett, J. Martin, Gunston, Bolton, Ceglar
