Cow Bay 1,254 defeated by Staghorn Flat 1,311
After officially making their first FU finals in their history, some Crocs enjoyed the week a little too much and were unprepared for the rampaging Bulls that showed up this week. This weekend The Swamp wasn't the fortress that it has been during the year and the Bulls took home a 57 point victory.

With Witherden going down after managing a paltry 4 points in a hungover state the Crocs were up against it from the start. The coach's roasting after last week's effort hit a chord with the players and the team saw much improved performances from De Goey (118), Taranto (112), Lycett (111) and Worpel (106). Gunston (90) finally performed after a much needed snooze last weekend wand Libba's 66 was really the only disappointing effort.

The Bulls started strongly. McEvoy (148) put in a BOG performance, Lynch (132) dominated the forward 50, McClulggage (132) and Rockliff (111) were strong in the middle while Hooker (90) and Whitfield (90) led the defensive group. The Bulls will be pleased with their effort this year and the coach would be glad Lynch has changed his training location and found some form as well as Salem finding some consistency and being a strong defensive scoring player.

Next week Cow Bay travels to Hughenden while Staghorn head back home to host the Smugglers.

    Big Tap
Lycett (111) def by McEvoy (148)

    BAFFU
    3 McEvoy, Staghorn, 148
    2 Lynch, Staghorn, 132
    1 McCluggage, Staghorn, 123

King Island Monarchs 1,270 def Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,235

Communications have finally been restored at the Dino Dome with the result a repeat of last year’s game with the visiting Monarchs beating Hughenden by 35 points (same game in 2018 was by 36 points)

The Monarchs looked to be short a forward when Fisher didn’t arrive at the ground but Lipinski (85) stepped up to fill the gap and in the end made the difference. The pulled Cotchin could’ve spelt disaster for the visitors bit Macrae (153) and Murphy (106) made the most of their opportunities to give the Monarch forwards plenty of the ball with Boak (114) and Dale (121) benefiting from the clearances.

Hughenden’s mid field improved also got plenty of the ball with Sandilands(87) out muscling Hickey (73) to win the Big Tap with Shiel (128) and Oliver (126) and Yeo (128) providing some drive through the middle but it was a soft effort from the Hughenden forwards who wasted opportunities throughout the afternoon. Hughenden’s backline leaked too often with the Monarchs forwards taking full advantage of their sloppy disposals under pressure.

Another tight tussle with the Monarchs coming out on top.

    BAFFU Awards
    3 Macrae, Monarchs (153)
    1 ½ Yeo, Hughenden (128)
    1 ½ Shiel, Hughenden (128)

Oh, so because you're the boss you can do what ever you like? Sounds about right

That Zac Dawson bloke goes OK; I believe Ross regularly employed him when in search of a high draft pick :p

Yes - that's how it works!
We don't really have a dedicated SC discussion thread anymore.

    UPDATE:
Under heavy laden skies at The Stadium (it is the wet season after all), the coach of the visiting Armadillos sent in 5 of his guns to start proceedings and hopefully grab a march on the locals who have been coming home hard lately.
At the end of the first break, he would be reasonably happy sitting at 5 down for 442, with his forward line doing justice to that decision, with Ziebell 120 and Wingard 98 scoring well, and ably supported down back by Hardwick scoring well above his average with a 92.
Banchang responded with evergreen Higgins off the interchange, who despite a broken nose, managed 140, his highest score for the season, while his cohort Cunnington, in a form slump, could only reach 66, leaving the locals at 2 for 206.
Its still early doors, so no one is predicting a win either way in this 4th v 6th battle.

Come on mate, we're trying to tank here. A great PSD pick awaits us if we lose by enough. All your team have to do is turn up and score... :p:p:p

At the Main Break at The Stadium the visiting Armadillos are 11/1017 leading Banchang 7/562.
It was all Ararat in this period with big Maxy 134 taking the bikkies over stand in Ruck Langdon 102/51 while Edwards 112 up front did the job supported by Gibbs 90 off the bench and Stewart 92 down back.
Apart from Langdon in the ruck, only 2 Barcrawlers showed any ticker with Dawson and Gray scoring 93 and 92 respectively, although Switkowski 97 had a good game in the 2's.
Banchang have Hanley Suckling Answerth Adams Lyons Wright Robinson and Lloyd to come while
Ararat have Rich Treloar Sheed Bowes and 455 pts which should be enough to get them the 4 points.

An update on the finals-defining clash:

    PP 820/12/68.33
    GG 808/9/89.78

The Panthers @TigersTooTough are choking at the wrong end of the season, leaving the door wide open for @eagle_eyed and his Sandgropers!

At the Dino Dome, Hughenden have taken the lead,

    Hughenden 1002/12/83
    Cow Bay 897/11/81

Can Hughenden hang on or will it be another game for them to choke in the dying minutes. @fresh

Speaking of finals; deep into the match at Eden and it’s the visiting Sandgropers 1017/11/92 leading @HOLKY ‘s Whalers 739/9/82 by 278 points. It’s not over yet but it’s getting very difficult for Eden to get back into this one.

    Go ‘Gropers!

*You’d want to pull your finger out @TigersTooTough , the Sandgropers are coming for 8th!

It’s tightened up in Eden with the Sandgropers lead now only 74 points. Eden have Andrews, Curnow, Casboult & Phillips to come against McGovern, Darling, Crozier and half of Matt Kennedy.

    Go ‘Gropers!
