The ORFFA season is all about banter, hype and the ridiculous bulls--t that will go on. Now it's time to get serious, where friends become enemies, where drug regimes kick into next gear, where seasons are defined by late outs and managed players. Where teams put everything on the line in sudden death. It's a great few weeks; it's about competition. Here is how the ladder finished at the end of the season: 1. Foul Bay 2. Cradle Mountain 3. Gundagai 4. Marble Bar 5. Venus Bay 6. Iron Knob 7. Waikickamoocow 8. Lovely Banks -------- 9. Whitsunday 10. Birdsville 11. Wagga Wagga 12. Gariwerd 13. Nowhere Else 14. Mount Beauty 15. Wineglass Bay 16. Charlie's Opening 17. Larrikin Lagoon 18. Narrewillock Therefore the @ChiefRussell gets the honour of choosing his opponent, with @dmandrews, @snoz and @Len closing it out. In the first week the Zac Dawson plays out like this: Game 1 : Whitsunday Warriors vs Narrewillock Nuffers Game 2: Birdsville Battlers vs Larrikin Lagoon Game 3: Wagga Wagga Wombats vs Charlie's Opening Spelunkers Game 4: Gariwerd Cockatoos vs Wineglass Bay Packers Game 5: Nowhere Else Wanderers vs Mount Beauty Uglies
I have sent a message (INXS anyone?) to @ChiefRussell, @dmandrews and @snoz for their Round 1 selections. @Jen are you ok to load them in or do you need someone to give you a hand?
A time where the bottom sides can let the shackles off and go for wins without it jeopardising their draft position lol
Ok folks, here we go. The selections are in, and we have a couple of doozies! @ChiefRussell ummed and ahhed, changed his mind three times and Foul Bay eventually settled on the Lovely Banks Lilacs, giving @Jen a tough match up in her first finals appearance. At least the changerooms will smell better after the match! Cradle Mountain have selected the @jimbowan 's Iron Knob codpieces @snoz has taken the bull by the horns and selected pre-season premiership favourite the Vultures Which leaves @Len 's Misfits taking on the cows from the Land Of The Long White Cloud. The biggest selection decision here will be on the wine to match the duck a'lorange Fixture is locked and loaded folks... good luck to all, except you @Lenny120 ...you can get stuffed ORFFA 2019 Finals Series Week 1: Foul Bay Chickens vs Lovely Banks Lilacs Cradle Mountain Devils vs Iron Knob Codpieces Gundagai Grasshoppers vs Venus Bay Vultures Marble Bar Misfits vs Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles Zac Dawson Cup: Whitsunday Warriors vs Nareewillock Nuffers Birdsville Battlers vs Larrikin Lagoon Lefties Wagga Wagga Wombats vs Charlies Opening Spelunkers Gariwerd Cockatoos vs Wineglass Bay Packers Nowhere Else Wanderers vs Mount Beauty Uglies
If you could call the Misfits finals history rich, would be a stretch, we have a rich history with the Incorrigibles, feeling reasonably certain @graeme is about to avenge the last bout Good luck to all, esp @Jen in her finals debut
Well, well, well. Didn't see that coming; well apart from one fixture. Good luck @Jen in your finals debut. This will mark three consecutive finals series we have been matched up with orange Misfits. One all at the present. Finals matches have reversed the H&A results in previous years and we won the H&A fixture this year. Time to break a short term trend. A nicely aged pinot noir from the Waikick hinterland is a classic match for the duck with orange sauce @Bandit - we might even field Sauce. Good luck to all as the finals kick off. Hope that injuries do not play too big a part in proceedings.
The Nuffers only victory of 2019 was a narrow win over a 13 man Warriors @TerryinBangkok lineup in Round 2. If they rock up with 11 or less this time we may be a chance to make it 2 in a row.
Will do my best @TheTassieHawk . Might even be less than 11 - the players thought it was all over and have dispersed all over the country with their fishing rods.
Thanks everyone all I can do now is put my best team on the park and hope @ChiefRussell has a really bad one. Which in all honesty would be a miracle if I did happen to pull off the win. It proves my team is strong even with 4 defenders out, who would normally get a game, I can still put 15 on the park all in their correct positions. It has taken a lot of time and team building to get to this point.
With everyone wishing @Jen extra good luck I might wish @ChiefRussell all the best, seeing as he isn’t getting much love. In all seriousness Jen, you won’t need a bad one from me to beat me. Your team has scored really well this year, I didn’t have a bad one a few weeks ago when we last met and just scraped over the line so this game is a genuine contest. It will take my best to win.
Go @ChiefRussell. I will send a good luck your way! Wait? What was that @Jen ? What? No, I was just saying .... Oh. OK. Sorry.
Sorry @Bandit I just saw this, I'm on a finals high, I will crash down very soon. I just saw that they are already up.
Good luck to all competing for the Zac Dawson cup. Commiserations to those in the top 8, you'll make it one day. And @Bandit...get stuffed.
Unfortunately the pins continue to drop at the Bar, and noone is standing the fallen back up in time for the next strike. Caleb Daniel the latest out and none back so no reserves and an OOP forward unless Laverde gets a late callup.
