Roll up, Roll up, for the show of the year, the 2019 ORFFU Finals. The rules are simple - its a knockout (that's the name of the game why hasn't that show come back???). The top ranked team gets to choose their opponent. Then the next highest ranked remaining team gets to pick their opponent. Then the next highest ranked remaining team gets to pick their opponent. Then the last two remaining teams face off. Winner goes through. Loser gets shown the door. The qualifiers are: Nuytsland @bryzza Gisborne @Tomster Staghorn Flat @tyze1 Ararat @insider Korumburra @Mick Cow Bay @fresh Banchang @choppers Southern Cross @eagle_eyed Please state below who you'd like to face off against. Good luck to all 8 teams.
Mate, if it means that much to you to win this "for fun" competition, I'll make it easier for you. I'll select Doedee Impey, L D-U Sinclair and Cameron, so go ahead and pick me....A win guaranteed. No need to wait for teams to drop. And you can add Pickett and Corbett to that list. And bear in mind it holds everyone else up to make their selection. I just hope they're avail to wait. And the BOSS is waiting to post the fixture in tsLeagues, and as his team didn't make it, I hope he hasn't got Real Life stuff to do, instead of sitting around waiting. Hey but it's OK, you're within the rules, so everything is cool, right.
I’m going to assume your very drunk @choppers and therefore surlier than usual. I still don’t get the anger at @bryzza finishing on top of the ladder and then using that subsequent privilege - 1st choice of finals opponent - to wait until he has all the relevant info (like which players are actually f@&king playing this week) to make his selection. Just STFU if you’ve got nothing to do but whinge - or alternatively, I believe there was a specific thread created for this kind of negative stupidity! Use it!...
I actually disagree with what @bryzza did by waiting, but he didn't break any rules so there's nothing wrong with what he did. To win you've got to beat all teams, so why not just pick the next-best team and hope you beat them? If you lose, then you get a better PSD pick. But then that's probably not a popular opinion. It does annoy me a little, that so much time has passed by, because I can't post the fixture until everyone picks their opponent, and I'm not available for much of tomorrow... but again, no rules were broken, so fair bump play on.
Yeah, I'm going to propose that opponent selections need to be made sooner (maybe even complete before teams are named), but we don't have a rule right now, so you did nothing wrong. I'll just have to find the time tomorrow...
30 kicks in the VFL not enough for recall? Cheers nonetheless Marty. Who needs an eye socket anyway Jade? Why has your shin injury said 1-2 weeks for the past month Cam? Where is Scott, Ken? 1 more week Jordan, why not this week? Tom, Tom, Tom... These are just some of the things being heard around trainings for the fresh meat into finals - Cow Bay and Gisborne. Feels fitting that the perennial cellar-dwellers should face off in week 1 of the finals, hey @fresh? Gisborne Grenades vs Cow Bay is the second match Your turn @tyze1
Nooooo! I wanted this as the grand final matchup! The Cinderella story just isn’t to be. Damn you tomster, damn you!
I like it, happy to face off against another fellow FU finals debutant. But I'd like to raise you a farked up elbow for Clark, Libba's bung knee, Lycett's 'form' issues, De Goey's hammy and Martin's axing. Cow Bay will be lucky to field 15 this week.
Well raised. My apologies, I'm so famous that I'm on first name basis with nearly every AFL player so may have confused you with my post. Didn't notice Jack's axing, however, Jordan, Scott and Tom are in fact Cow Bay players
Ah I see, confusion reigns in Cow Bay. The Gisborne coach has started the mind games already! But I also see you're not famous enough to be on a surname basis with Croc players
@eagle_eyed take the Hume hwy once you land in Melbourne your heading to Staghorn Flat. Who are we to stand in the way of a GF rematch!
OK, so week 1 we have the following: (1) Nuytsland @bryzza against (7) Banchang @choppers (2) Gisborne @Tomster against (6) Cow Bay @fresh (3) Staghorn Flat @tyze1 against (8) Southern Cross @eagle_eyed (4) Ararat @insider against (5) Korumburra @Mick Good luck to all 8 teams.
Not quite how I thought it would end up. Expected NV vs BB & AA vs KB but thought GG would have selected SCS. However I wasn’t totally aware of GG’s injury issues. Really is a last man standing series this year with at least half the teams ravaged by injury. I’m missing 5 of this season’s best 15 and having to play two OOPs. 2019 hasn’t quite panned out as I’d hoped but it’s been a great ride. It’s a privilege to be an ORFFU member and an even bigger one to be crowned premiers. Best of luck to everyone and may the best team win.
