So, with 17 rounds to be played, if it’s over 17 weeks, do we:

    - Scrap finals and go EPL style top of the ladder wins?
    - Play 14 regular season matches and still have finals based on ladder position? If we play 14 matches should the ladder be solely based on points for rather than wins/losses to counteract an uneven fixture?

    Decisions, decisions...

I prefer the EPL style if we get to play 17 rounds....everyone plays each other once....best team wins.

Right now I'm liking the EPL-style suggestion.
If we happen to have less than 17 rounds, then its just going to have to be a matter of highest aggregate wins. So the objective more than ever is to win and score big each week.
This is obviously going to be a real mess of a season, so we'll just see what we can salvage from it.
The fortunate thing for us is that our fixtures can stay in exactly the same order.

So that would be most wins followed by most points. Good system.

I think most wins followed by most points is fine if we play 17 matches, if we play less, then wins should be irrelevant and it should be based on most points. By doing this it doesn't matter that the fixture is uneven, it would be based on the highest scoring team no matter who we play.

I'd be on board with EPL style wins followed by most points champion for a 17 week season.

Not so keen on the total points as a sole determinent in a shorter season. Feel like it takes away a key element of the comp
Hard to work out without knowing the specifics but an alternative could be a conference type system. e.g split into 2 on something like odd and even ladder positioning from last season. play each team in your conference once and then a finals system based on remaining weeks with top teams from each conference

A decision on how the ORFFU season will progress will be posted immediately after the AFL decision on how the footy season will progress. :p:p:p

So Damo , on AFL site saying he can’t see round 1 going ahead when practically every other sport around the world is shutting down. Hate to say it but I have to agree. The league would look unprofessional in comparison and I doubt that’s how Gill and his mates want to be perceived. I also think that once it’s stopped it could be off for 2+ months as it could take that long to ride out even with isolation. There’s already doubts the EPL can be back up and running early April and they stopped last weekend.

Who knows what it means for the ‘FU, very interesting times.

We'll just keep hoping and trudging forward, until we can't.

From an international public perception perspective - its probably best to shut down the AFL.
From a domestic public perception perspective - I thinks its a matter of "damned if you do, damned if you don't".
From the leagues' perspective - I think they're trying to work out how they can make money and keep their 100% news cycle.
From the players' perspective - I get the impression (despite what Riewoldt says) that they really are worried about their own incomes, but do genuinely want to play the game.

Agree on this, no doubt they want to play but coming out a day after the league has said they plan to run a shortened season smacks of "it was not our decison to reduce the season so our pay should not be compromised". The AFLPA would have known the talks regarding the season were happening and could have made a statement prior to the decision being made public. In saying this I would not want my pay reduced if my employer forced me to not work.

So I agree with the EPL style for this year, 17 matches, if it's a tie then most points wins it.

SC is a mess now with trying to get that sorted today ahead of the footy tonight!!!
