This one has tightened right up. Deep in the last quarter Ben Cunnington is almost solo dragging the Barcrawlers across the line. Banchang 1199/14/86 (Ed Langdon) v Serengeti 1132/12/87 (Steve May & Dom Sheed) @choppers
At 8/9th's time in what could be the one and only match for the season!, the Blowflys have a handy clubhouse lead over the Bulls. KB - 1338 / 15 / 89 vs SFB - 1110 / 13 / 84 With the breaking news about the impending lockdown, all Blowflys players and staff were advised to immediately leave the field after the Q8 siren sounded, jump on the team bus and return to Korumburra immediately! This just leaves a confused recent addition to the Bulls in Tom Barrass and a player originally drafted by the Flys - he of the rather oversized and fragile head - Angus Brayshaw out on the field - both, like all of us footy loving folk, probably not quite sure what to do at this stage... From a purely mathematical standpoint these 2 players need to stay out there and scrape together 229 points between them or KB gets the W... @tyze1
Southern Cross take the 4 points with a win over @ddsaints Pakenham by 260 points. In the end 3 tonnes couldn’t beat 6. Full match report to follow. Go ‘Gropers!
Ahhhh! the luck of the draw. Sandgropers score 1332 and get the win while Banchang scores 1331 against the Buffs and cops a loss.....
News has started filtering across the waterways that it looks as though the Buffaloes have just held on. Some stirring performances by new recruits Sheed & Naismith enough to get them across the line against the Barcrawlers and a ridiculous effort by Ben Cunnington. Banchang 1331 v Serengeti 1333 I feel like scores have changed more than regularly though so I'm not putting this one in the book just yet!
Early update from Mill Park sees the visiting Cudas eek out an early lead. SFB 2/218/109 GEB 4/268/67 @YAD69
Hughenden haven't started yet but Eden are 5/444 with Pendles, Crisp and Ivan the Awesome all scoring 100+ (115 and 108s)
After much discussion Hughnedne have finally named a side, looked at the scoreboard and have returned to the change rooms for a rethink about the season, surely someone has COVID and the game can be abandoned.
If you reckon that's a bit tough, how about this to get the Barcrawlers to Cow Bay for Rd2. All International flights out of Thailand are suspended so we had to get a bus from Banchang to Suvarnabhumi Airport. We then got a Domestic flight to Udon Thani and then bussed it to Nong Khai on the Thai/Lao border. We then caught taxis across the border to Vientiane where we boarded a flight to Singapore. From there we flew to Brisbane where we quarantined for 14 days. Next was a flight from Brisbane to Cairns and then we bussed it to Cow Bay via Port Douglas. We left 4 weeks ago and had to take the whole squad... And we'll need to go back the same way......and be back in time to face next weeks opposition, Coolgardie @JPK who will need to do similar, as Bangkok International Airport is still not open......
Hughenden have finally ventured onto the ground and it appears they have been on the same trip as the Barcrawlers despite playing at home. The Eden Whalers remain well in control of this one and it will take something extraordinary from the home team to get back in the game:- Eden Whalers 5/444/88 Hughenden 4/185/46
Its a ripper at Mill Park as 3/4 time blows SFB 11/916/83 + Coniglio, Whitfield, Hill & Cunningham GEB 12/933/78 + Bont, Lloyd & Ryder @YAD69
Deep in the 3rd at the Sandpit and it’s the home town Sandgropers (952/10/95) leading @DamoH ‘s visiting Smugglers (867/11/79) by 85 points. There’s still time, but it’s looking increasingly unlikely that Christmas Island will be able to bridge the gap. Go ‘Gropers!
The Whalers were out of the blocks early but seem to have stalled as we enter the final 1/3 of the game with Hughenden finally getting it together. It will be a tight finish. Whalers 12/885/73 Hughenden 10/733/73
