Round 17 – AFL Round 17 Date Thursday 10th September 2020 THEME - Phoning It In Round It's that time of year in fantasy football circles, a time where some teams progress very quickly from "rough mathematical chances to make finals" to "just looking forward to Mad Monday and the end-of-season trip". And of course there is a strong, scientifically-proven correlation between this progression, the aforementioned bounty of doughnuts and an increase in players turning up to games, going through the motions and going home again. This round we celebrate the players who do actually turn up to play, even if they are phoning it in late in the season. After all, the meaningless 15 or 20 touches they gather could mean 60 or 80 far more meaningful fantasy points for our beloved ORFFA team. With an unexpected Round 18 occurring (that we didn’t know about at the time of ruling on this season) it would have been nice to lose to you in the decider for a bit of theatre to end the season, but oh well. The best team has won this year.
One cow tonight in our rivalry with @Fitzy 's Vultures - D Jeremy McGovern Best of luck Fitzy, thought we were cruelled by injuries; but just a graze compared to the dramas you've seen.
Final squad before the end of season piss up Def: Jayden Short, Liam Duggan, Sam Petrevski-Seton, Darcy Gardiner Mid: Zac Merrett, Marcus Bontempelli, Jack Bowes, Oliver Florent Ruck: Sean Darcy Fwd: Andrew Brayshaw, Bayley Fritsch, Lachlan Murphy, Nick Blakey Int: Tom Phillips, Trent Rivers
I know @graeme doesn't like an odious tanker, but it is brag artist friday. Big shout out to my squad, with one round to go: 6 wins compared to 2 last year, with another 3 losses by less than 50 points (one by a point) Average round score (including the bye shit) up 95 points to 1132 We are coming...
After Gov's injury last night it seems to me that @Fitzy and my mob are competing for the Ämbo's Cup; the holder of the cup to be the team with the lower score in our H&A series game. An injury riddled squad still gets to win some silverware. D - Jeremy McGovern (59), Zac Bailey, Bailey Williams, Dan Howe (Michael Hibberd) M - Sam Menegola, Tom Mitchell, Nat Fyfe, Brad Crouch (Mitch Robinson) R - Reilly O'Brien F - Brandan Parfitt, Tom Papley, Keidean Coleman, Toby McLean (Jeremy Finlayson) I/C - Josh Dunkley, Sam Jacobs (Jack Ross) Progress score is Vultures 2/217 lead the cows 1/59

In fitting style, we have both managed an injury, Doc going down today. Funny year this one but its nice to see Hogan and Daniher up and running as well as JOM back this week. EDIT: Oh and Mclean, that looked nasty too, poor guy.
Very fitting we should both have injuries in the last game for the year. Feel sad for Toby McLean, he was a good cog in the doggies wheel. Doc - what can I say other than I traded him out for Daniels just before the game. Season has finished for the cows (no pies or suns). Ended with about 15/1150 which is boringly close to our average score for the year. Happy with the kids, 12 of the squad are under 24 years old and only one (Will Gould) is yet to debut.. Will be an interesting off-season as we all try to build squads that might match snoz and ChiefBet.
For potentially the first time in 2 and half seasons the Nuffers name an unchanged lineup for the clash with the Battlers @JC Apologies to Ebert and Petrucelle for not making the squad despite AFL returns. Casboult, Clurey and Luke Brown are named for farewell games while Mayne is named in the emergencies ahead of being joining the offseason exodus.
I agree it would’ve been good to have a grand final. I made the suggestion a couple of times, but there mustn’t have been any appetite for it because I don’t recall any replies.
Same. No impact on the Nuffers either way but a Grand Final is always fun. If one isn’t going ahead let’s consider whether we use the last AFL week for a one off State of Origin. If so, let’s lock it in quickly so teams can be decided by Thursday night.
You didn't get a reply because it didn't warrant one. I seem to recall you were fully in favour of the original decision not to play finals... I have dug it up in case you forgot. If you want to run the league, you can throw your hat into the ring to be commish, nominations open tomorrow.
All of the end of season threads have been created folks, have at it, especially if you want rule discussions
haha that escalated quickly Bandit! Back when we made the decision to not have finals, we didn't know there would be an 18th round. I don't see an issue with making a suggestion to have a grand final after the AFL announced an 18th round. It was never intended to be a pot shot at your earlier decision
