Game over in the Goldfields, and it was a comfortable 88 point win by the visitors @wrightbrendan The giant tap was easily won by Coolgardie's O McInerney, by 33 points over Buffalo S Draper, 109 to 76, in the only real good news for the Prospectors. The votes were all Serengeti: 3 - B Smith, Serengeti, 123 points 2 - J Ridley, Serengeti, 122 points 1 - S May, Serengeti, 117 points Next week sees Coolgardie on the road to Cow Bay, while the Serengeti tour bus rolls into Ararat. It’s full time at the Sandpit and the hometown Sandgropers (1327/15/88) have taken out a comfortable 154 point victory over @fresh ‘s Crocs (1173/15/78). With four tonnes a piece, the difference between the two sides was their bottom four players. Cow Bay’s all scored less than 50 points with Southern Cross only having one player score under 50 and their next worst scorer, new boy Grundy with a disappointing 70 on debut. New Sandgroper Martin led all comers with a huge 158 on debut to take out BOG honours whilst Crocs ruckman Ceglar took out the giant tap by 16 points over an out of sorts Grundy. Go Sandgropers!!!
Final scores from the Horsham vs Christmas Island match. Horsham 988 from 13 players (76 average) defeated Christmas Island 786 from 11 players (71 average). A pretty narrow victory by average for Horsham in their first game in the league, helped greatly by having 2 extra players show up. Neither team look like troubling the top 8 based on round 1 score. BAFFU 3 Votes - J Lever (CIS) 129 2 Votes - J Billings (HG) & T Kelly (HG) 114 Golden Tap M Pittonet (CIS) 85 points defeated J Witts (HG) 75 points Next up, Horsham travel to Pakenham and its the Island match up with Christmas Island hosting King Island. (First time doing the write up so please let me know if I've missed something.)
Good work mate Anything like that is fine. More fluffy dribble if you want, but not a necessity. A couple of jabs at your opponent also don't go astray
Football returned to Mill Park last weekend with the Bulls hosting the reigning champs. @bryzza There was an air of skepticism and hesitance amongst the Bulls faithful following a relatively stable offseason at Mill Park. Some staunch locals were clearly disappointed at the lack of active trading by the Bulls hierarchy - despite the Bulls reeling off 6 on the trot to finish 2020. The reigning champs picked up where they left off and romped to a comfortable 181 point victory 1388 - 1207 making it 6 on the trot against the Bulls and now taking over as the Bulls nemesis. An unchecked Mitchell (135) ran riot for the Vikings and was ably supported by Petracca (98) in the middle. Williams (121) interception work and run off half back was sublime along with the aging Hurn (118). Stephenson (112) enjoyed the vast expanses of Mill Park. For the Bulls Barrass (117) and Maynard (106) saw plenty of the ball, Adelaide Lynch (112) was the only fwd who got off the chain for the Bulls and were the only 3 to hit the ton. Ultimately it was the consistency of the Vikings no score under 70 that got the job done. For the Bulls the midfield and forwards disappointed and were never in the hunt. #12 draft pick Sholl (91) impressed on debut whilst Rowe shone in the 2's and will press his case for a debut this week. 3 - Mitchell NV 2 - Williams NV 1 - Hurn NV Big Tap - English 96 d McEvoy 89
They say with a new season comes new hope but unfortunately over the span of 4 days any new hope the Panthers may have had quickly dissipated and the feelings of inadequacy so prevalent in 2020 quickly returned. Nothing highlighted the level of despair for Panthers faithful more than the Parasites’ ruckman Eric Hipwood pumping out a 13 yet the visiting team still managing an easy win. Irony is not lost among the Panthers’, the much loved Nank romped around notching up big scores in October last year, coming much too late for the Panthers’ 2020 campaign only to show up in round 1 2021 and post a very modest 76. If you don’t laugh you will cry! The Parasites will be pleased with the early season form of Jack Newnes, Jack Lukosius and Darcy Moore along with future jet, or is he a current jet now?, Adam Cerra. For the home side the leaders Parker and Simpkin need to lift or another dismal season will be on the cards.
How are there 5 likes on this - there’s no mention of the bloody score! I feel like I watched all 3 lord of the rings movies and I still don’t know if Frodo banged Sam
