So I realise I’m (very) late to the party but I just set up Tapatalk and seeing other league discussions that are happening. I noticed a couple chatting about how best to navigate potential Covid impacts. Do we have any concerns over what that will look like / think we need to make any changes?
The biggest worry for some will be are the players not getting vaxed in time and therefore not playing, this won't be known until after our draft. However, if you have one of them you'd know and therefore need to make a call on them now or hold them like an injured player. During the year, hard to tell if we should decide now or let things play out and be flexible, logical and reasonable when making a call on the situation at hand.
I'm all for flexible. Lets see what happens. We can't sit here and predict each possible scenario and then come up with a solution for it, so in my opinion we just assume that everything will go perfectly, until it doesn't
Surely it’s just like an injury isn’t it? We’ve got our bigger squads to have injury coverage, it should be treated as the same; assuming we’re talking about a scenario where “players x, y & z miss 3 games for the Armadillos due to Covid”. It would suck for the team(s) it happens to, but as we’re a keeper league and in it for the long haul we can at least console ourselves with a better draft pick the next year. Anyway, just thinking out loud. Take it as it comes and see what happens moving through 2022!
I’m thinking less about individual cases and more about when whole games are postponed so there are maybe only 6, 7, 8 matches for the week
It will certainly make it interesting, especially if they just delay it and the week after there's 10, 11, 12 matches for the week. I hope with their testing regime that a whole team doesn't go down and it will be just individual players which will be treated like an injury.
Probably won’t win the FU flag or the Big Tap, but I think I’ve won the Corona cup! Officially tested positive today after dragging myself out of bed for a test. anyone else already beaten me to it or have I won some silverware?
Yep. Smashed you! Got it outta the way pre-season, just before the Xmas break! Felt a bit flat for a week, likewise the Mrs, barely affected the kids. Just a well marketed cold. Hopefully you're also one of the "lucky" 99.9% that can survive this plague. All the best mate
