One game down already, 8 more to go.
Have we decided on a standard lockout yet? I can’t remember.

Some massive games this week, with 1v2 & 3v4!

Cradle Mountain Devils Rnd 16 team

Out: Z Jones (omitted), J Laverde (omitted)
    In: D Rich, A Naughton

    Def: N Vlastuin, D Rich, D Heppell, J Lever (J Laverde)
    Mid: J Steele, S Pendlebury, J Redden, J Hopper (T Sonsie)
    Ruc: T Nankervis
    Fwd: J Gresham, R Marshall, A Naughton, H Morrison (L Breust)
    Int: T English, T Membrey (B Mihocek)

At the mid-season break the Devils were in eighth place with six wins and five losses, only one game behind the fourth placed Cows but with the third best points for in the ORFFA, only trailing the the second placed Grasshoppers and ladder leading Vultures. The aim for Cradle Mountain was to finish the season strongly and record the club’s fourth consecutive top four finish.

It has certainly been one wild ride for the Devils after the mid-season break with the club not scoring between 1,200 and 1,500 points in any of their past four games, instead either going above or below this substantial range. In the first week after the break Cradle Mountain looked refreshed and scored 1,532 points to register their highest score of the season to defeat the Uglies and jump up to fourth place on the ladder. From Round 13 to Round 15 CMD have looked anything but a finals team to average 1,145 points per game, scoring 1,168 in a 26 point loss to the Packers followed by 1,090 in a 41 point loss to the Misfits and then 1,176 in a 144 point victory against the Dung Beetles. Across these three games the Devils registered three of their four lowest scores of the first 15 rounds, their lowest score, second lowest score and fourth lowest score, with the latter being only five points higher than their third lowest score of the season – 1,171 in a Round 1 loss to the Lilacs.

From being fourth after Round 12 Cradle Mountain dropped to seventh and then 10th with back to back losses in Rounds 13 and 14. A Round 15 victory enabled the CMD to climb up to eighth allowing the Devils to have their top eight destiny in their own hands entering the final two rounds of the season.

For the Round 16 home game against Iron Knob, Cradle Mountain have strengthened their team at both ends of the ground with defender Daniel Rich returning after a hamstring injury and forward Aaron Naughton included after exiting the health and safety protocols. After making his club debut last week defender Jayden Laverde has been omitted and will be joined in the state league side by two players that each averaged over 90 points per game in 2020 and 2021 but have been unable to reach these heights in 2022 – midfielder Zak Jones and midfielder/defender Dayne Zorko. Jones has been omitted whilst after injuring his hamstring in the first five minutes of his previous ORFFA game Zorko has to tick the box of getting through a state league game injury-free before being considered for ORFFA selection.

Surely if Aaron Hall was fit he should’ve been named in the Kangaroos initial team?
He’s come in as a late inclusion today and top scored for them in SC points. Something a bit suss about that!

Meanwhile he’s playing in Gariwerd’s reserves this weekend :(

I guess if I was onto it I could’ve switched him in because of the new lockout rule being first Saturday game - has that changed yet?
But I haven’t had phone reception all day.

Sadly I think the outs have become too much for it to matter.
Been battling injuries all year but it's a stupid level now.. Exactly 1/2 of my best 16 are available.

You can check with @Bandit, but pretty sure that rule only applies if you have phone reception.
In the annals of ORFFA it will become known as the Aaron Hall Rule. Right up there with Selby and Relton.

Unlike when we normally play @Len , there was no satisfaction in winning this game. Playing a side one man short without so many first choice players while having close to our best side and three scoring emergencies is not a good match-up. Still, we bank the four points and move on ... :poop:

Holy crap the Nuffers won, even with young Mason being injured and subbed.

Off the bottom of the ladder and everything. Wow.
