    Round 17 – AFL Round 20
    Phoning it in Round:

As an appropriate follow-up to Fantasy Saviour Round, our last set of home and away games will celebrate those players who threaten fantasy finals spots by simply turning up, going through the late-season motions and notching up a relatively scratchy 40 or 50 fantasy point game.

Of course for some, every round has been Phoning It In Round. For them, Phoning It In Round is the natural precursor to Putting Out The Rubbish off-season. Sounds like fun.

Gundagai Grasshoppers v Charlies Opening Spelunkers
Venus Bay Vultures v Mount Beauty Uglies
    Nareewillock Nuffers v Whitsunday Warriors
Gariwerd Cockatoos v Wineglass Bay Packers
Lovely Banks Lilacs v Birdsville Battlers
Foul Bay Chickens v Marble Bar Misfits
Wagga Wagga Wombats v Cradle Mountain Devils
Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles v Dunsborough Dung Beetles
Iron Knob Codpieces v Larrikin Lagoon Lefties

cows (12/991) leading the dung beetles (10/709). However, it's the range of scores for the bovines that is concerning - top end is a 132 and 2*130's, the bottom end a 46, a 32 and a 25. Looks like a good talking to is needed before finals.

@bama - FYI, my quick calculation; if you win and score >1308 you take over 4th place

    Unofficial score

Wagga Wagga Wombats 1,263 lost to Cradle Mountain Devils 1,391

With the victory the Devils secure a finals berth for a sixth consecutive ORFFA season and the lowest they can finish in 2022 is sixth.

After their loss @Lenny120 ’s Wombats will drop down the ladder and will require at least one other result to go their way to make the finals, needing either the Lilacs to lose to the Battlers or the Misfits to be defeated by the Chickens.

What a coaching performance (assuming my spies have this correct)
I mean,I was at the game but may have slid under the barstool for a little nap pre final score.

Just noting that last weeks correction didn’t update with the roll over - do we manually adjust scores now ?

The innovators that they are, I see Iron Knob and Larrikin Lagoon decided to play their game with no rucks this week, as both Stanley and Xerri were late outs.

Two wins in a row for the Nuffers. Delusions of competence.

Mr Redman's late season blitz continued, and nice to see Jason Horne-Francis score well ... whether it is enough to save him from the trading block, well, we'll have to wait and see.

So when we look at the round 16 adjustment that needs to be made, it places Gundagai in 1st on 56 points, with Venus Bay second and Gariwerd third… do I have that right?

i need to send out messages for coaches to choose their opponents

yes Gundagai would be first, but Gariwerd would be 2nd, and Venus Bay third

Gariwerd goes to third I think, as you lose four points, plus the points Daniher would have got in the round.

this will put you below Venus Bay in points For if my math is correct

    No, that is incorrect @Bandit

The Gariwerd Cockatoos didn’t play in the game in question their premiership points and points for are unaffected. Gariwerd Cockatoos should be second and Vultures third on the ladder as @anthak posted.

In tsLeagues Venus Bay were incorrectly able to activate 72 points for Joe Daniher as an emergency in Round 16 to cover for Jack Billings who played and scored 0. The additional 72 pointes from Daniher resulted in Venus Bay incorrectly being awarded the Round 16 victory against the Gundagai Grasshoppers. By my calculations removing Joe Daniher’s 72 points from Venus Bay Vultures Round 16 game results in the following ladder positions, win, losses, points for and premiership points for the top 3 teams at the end of the 2022 ORFFA home and away season.

    W L For PP
    1 Gundagai Grasshoppers 14 3 23,277 56

    2 Gariwerd Cockatoos 14 3 22,167 56

    3 Venus Bay Vultures 13 4 22,069 52
