All very exciting & thought I was being funny & told the patrons at 3/4 time we had run dry of cans. Seriously .... I was lucky someone untied me from the tree next to the can bar at 11.30 pm. Also lucky I had stashed an emergancy slab away from the unquenchable (word Tib ?) locals. All fair in love & up Mountains I guess Looking forward to next week & the tennis ball branding marks receeding, extremely hard to keep the knee in postion (whilst tied up) to protect the family jewels, over the 7 odd hours of the lads trying to take the humour out of me. Rock On
As it turned out all the top 4 teams would’ve beaten any of the 5-8 teams this week. I agonised over the opponent rankings and it didn’t matter in the end. But still pleased to see I had it mostly correct. I was somewhat surprised @snoz picked Lovely Banks, as they were my 3rd choice, but I was happy it left my first preference Wagga Wagga available. Turns out Wagga scored the lowest, and Lovely Banks scored the most. CMD were the only one to go against my predictions.
Matt Taberner’s score ended up counting when it shouldn’t have. These are the relevant rules I think: 1.5 Four Emergencies can be selected. They come in if a selected player on the same line does not play. 12.2 You must name a player in every slot on a line to activate an emergency, an empty slot will not activate an emergency, by design
I was keeping quiet until scores loaded, you never know! I knew I was a decent chance when Hogan popped out a 140 odd, back around that 1300 mark is solid but not sure it'll be enough to keep winning these next 2 weeks. Congrats on a great year @graeme, some super talented young players in your side so no doubt you'll be going deeper in finals series in years to come
I can say with some insight that the coach of Lovely Banks was surprised to have gotten as close to a win as she did, given Tom Stewart's nightmare game. With very few senior Lilacs looking at retirement, and the emergence of Messers Farrar, O'Driscoll, Hollands, Gibcus and Larkey during the season, Lovely Banks may be in a good spot coming into 2023 too.
You might have won Chris, but as the lowest scoring winner, unfortunately the Nuffers are knocked out of the "Who gives a shit, get stuffed Cup" or the Zac as we know it
Can't hear you, still celebrating winning 3 games in a row. The Nuffers' elimination will allow celebrations to continue longer than originally planned, perhaps right through into the early weeks of December.
Round 2 Finals fixture is locked and loaded.... some juicy games here If any of the also rans want a practice match, let me know
The idea being that squad members who would not normally get a run get a game before the possible stamping of their papers. Thus Crouch, Mitchell, Fyfe, Prestia, Dunkley, Bailey (and maybe some others) can sit on the sideline and have a beer in the late winter sun with their injured mates (e.g., McGovern and Newman).
Better post a team for the semi's! DEF: Salem, Young, Maynard, Day - EMERG Henry MID: Viney, Ellis, Petracca, Walsh - EMERG Maginness RUCK: Gawn FWD: Rioli, Graham, Sidebottom, Butters - EMERG Zurhaar INTER: Cotchin, Fogarty - EMERG Balta Going to be a tough game and definitely the underdog but with @HeavyMen support on hill you never know!!
Likely cows for practice match with the cavemen: D - R Burton, R Bonner, B Williams, M O'Connor M - M Owens, L O'Brien, D Howe, T Sparrow (B Parfitt) R - R O'Brien F - M Frederick, B Close, J Finlayson, T Papley I/C - S Menegola, Z Bailey The side is a bit stronger than what I first thought it would be. Probably because four have not played this season. Then there are tree who have played a total of 11 matches between them. Interesting exercise.
Good luck to your mob @bama, but hopefully we can keep @HeavyMen quiet! This is how the Cockies are lining up: Gariwerd Cockatoos Out: Robbie Gray (managed) In: Max Holmes DEF: Shannon Hurn, Angus Brayshaw, Aaron Hall, Zach Tuohy (Aidan Corr) MID: Rory Laird, Touk Miller, Cam Guthrie, Willem Drew (Matt Crouch) RUCK: Sam Draper FWD: Taylor Walker, Bradley Hill, Alex Neal-Bullen, Jack Darling (Sam Durham) INT: Seb Ross, Max Holmes (Michael Hibberd)
Playing against Mt Beauty never really gets serious until Richmond have played, but it’s been a free flowing high scoring game so far and will be interesting to see how the rest of the game goes. Gariwerd Cockatoos are 1302/13/100.2 with only Willem Drew & Sam Draper to go. Mount Beauty Uglies are trailing, on 787/8/98.4 still with half the team to play. @bama
Unofficial final scores from Gariwerd Gariwerd Cockatoos 1455/15/97 Mount Beauty Uglies 1326/15/88.4 The local crowd are ecstatic at the prospect of Gariwerd making their first grand final in club history! @HeavyMen is around somewhere, I’m sure I saw them among the masses. Thanks @bama for a great game, and well done on your season. This was a high scoring game with both teams playing well.
Well to be honest I didn't see that coming. Thanks to @bama for the entertaining year & all our can bar patrons. Well played Cockies Now where did I hide that last slab.......
