Final result from the Horsham V Korumburra match with the Blowflys running out 221 point winners (1337 vs 1116), as the Huskies injury list continues to grow, now claiming Ned Reeves and Jade Gresham.

The Blowflys were well lead by Dunkley (149), Goldy (119), Kelly (100) and Steele (95). The Blowflys backline was super consistent with Vlaustin (99), Witherden (98), Guthrie (95) and Daicos (81) making sure the game could not be lost.

The Huskies saw great performances from Witts (115), Drew (104), Holmes (102) and Bailey (94). Whilst the Huskies were at best only competitive in this match up, injuries to Reeves (39) and Gresham (40), plus Flanders being rushed back to early (41) finished the contest far earlier than hoped.

Horsham are now 1-7 and sitting 17th, whilst Korumburra are 6-2 and sitting 6th.

    BAFFU
    3 votes - J Dunkley (KB)
    2 votes - T Goldstein (KB)
    1 vote - J Witts (HH)

    Big Tap
T Goldstein (KB) defeated J Witts (HH), 119 to 115

Apologies for the late match report (found golf again :))

Out at the Goldfields it was the home-town Prospectors who have taken the win over the visiting King Island Monarchs @Tylo

It was a long week for the Comorants with several days lost in the preparation, which showed out with some lower than ideal scores.

The setbacks started immediately after the clash with Nuytsland when they were informed that the only way back to the nearest airport was via snekkja and when Darcy and Meek insisted on taking the front row for maximum leg room the oars at the back of the boat couldn’t reach the water extending the transit time significantly.

Once home several players reported being psychologically scared from the Vikings pregame routine, had they been challenged to a game of football or to participate in a nude group romp? Some player were convinced they saw a sacrificial alter of some kind and the thought of putting footy boots on again only caused them to relive the trauma.

Thank fully the players were slowly coaxed onto the training oval late in the week, reminded by the fact that the last Viking king died in 1066 and they were probably safe.

Game day brought a welcome change, the opposition Whalers (@HOLKY) were a fellow cellar dweller and therefore there was some chance of a win! To add to the excitement top-10 pick Clark entered the game early and although his output was small the signs for future success were considerable. The Comorants took a 474 to 394 lead into half time but it was the third quarter where the damage was done as they piled on 738 to 350 with Meek, Ashcroft and Smith all performing well.
The Whalers needed a minor miracle in the last quarter and although they outscored the Comorants 231 to 0 they were unable to close the gap.

    Final score
    Comorants 1212 to Whalers 975

    Votes
    3- Darcy
    2- Smith
    1- Broad

    Big Tap
    Darcy def Flynn

In a battle for the ages, the Vikings stormed into Ararat ready for plundering in Round 9.

A wondrous and beautiful encounter ensued, with Nutsy's midfield absolutely dominating. Liberatore (141), Petracca (148), Mitchell (108) and Warner (104) didnt bother with double figures and all raised their bats.
It was a similar story for the visiting forwards, with Heeney (101) getting on the fun, only to be eclipsed by new boy Humphrey B Bear (117) posting a career high. Schulz (108) scored more points than centimetres he is tall, and McKay (79) too eclipsed his season average,
Thankfully for the locals, English (88) played well below his lofty standards of season 2023, and a few young fellas couldnt match the intensity of their teammates; Scott (68) and O'Halloran (48) may have been overawed by the occasion.

The home side had the forward line gelling with all lads tonning up. The Peoples Beard fell just shy of a hundred, but he did bring little Jacky Higgins along for the ride, as both Interchange members posted 94.
Stewart (115) marshalled the troops from the back, but the ordinarily reliable mates of his failed to fire, Ryan (85), Blakey (74) and McDonald (67) were allowed to have a down week under immense pressure from the fearsome Vikings.
The match was undoubtedly won in the middle, with M Rowell snagging 3 votes and a lazy 165 supercoach points. He was everywhere, grabbing one-twos from Brayshaw (88) and having a tackle-off with Rowbottom (99).

In an absolute visual masterpiece, the final score was AA 1514 def NV 1494, with the Armadillos sending their foes to Valhalla

Progress score from The Stadium and, in their worst start to the season. the Barcrawlers are 5/285, with not one player hitting 70 pts, while the visiting Crocs are yet to grace the turf...

A couple of early, unfortunate substitutions for the Gropers have given the home team the early advantage:

    CIS - 635/7 (90.7)
    SCS - 311/5 (62.2)

Update from The Stadium and the Crocs are completely overpowering the home team, with McGrath (118) and Clark (112) down back holding the Banchang forwards at bay, while in the middle, Bolton (139) and Taranto (118) had the ball on a string, and even their Interchange Bench of Sheezel (112) and young Wilmot (83) were able to contribute to the onslaught, while no Banchang player was able to hit the ton and Cow Bay now lead the Barcrawlers by 275 with a score of 9/904/100.4 to 10/629/62.9

Another couple of subs leading to any empty interchange from Southern Cross has left them some work to do late:
