My team is an absolute mess - an OOP MID has to be a first, and I'm not even sure Nick Bryan can outscore an OOP RUC either. Don't deserve to make finals but we'll see!

Just one change for Black Swamp for Round 15 as youngster Josh Goater earns a starting spot ahead of Marc O’Connor for the final game of season 2023.

I thought the Ducks may have overloaded the forward line at the expense of the midfield this season and injuries haven’t helped you.

Interestingly the Ducks were 5-1 and in 2nd position after 6 rounds and it has been quite a fall from grace including a current 5 game losing streak.

Given the 29ers struggles all season it is looking like a 50/50 contest.

I mean as you can see, my forward line is equally as in trouble ;)

I reminisce of the days earlier this year when Grundy was R1 with Gawn injured and Jeremy Cameron was the best player in the comp.

Needless to say regardless of the result a lot of hard list decisions to make during the off season.

Midway through the 3rd quarter the visiting 29ers 10/749 lead the home side @thokash 9/648 by 101 points.

The Ducks will be looking to build scoreboard pressure via a 5 to 2 advantage across the first 2 Sunday games, with Wood, Mackenzie, Owens, Brockman and Lever taking on Hardwick and Hunter Clark.

Black Swamp will then entrust LDU, Xerri and Goater to chase a target against last Duck standing Liam Duggan who will be critical to Jan Juc's chances of securing to a much needed 7th win and more importantly a guaranteed 2023 finals berth.

After the early Sunday game the 29ers 12/928 now lead the Ducks 13/854 by 74 points as Jan Juc's hopes of winning depend on two big scores from Lever and Duggan to set a challenging score for the Black Swamp side to chase.

The 29ers defeated the Ducks with unofficial scores as 1169 to 1005 giving them their 5th win of season 2023 and a chance to move out of the bottom 2 depending on other results.

This result combined with the Fugs @tyze1 season ending loss means that the Bucks @Dale Duivesteyn are now certain to finish in the 8 for the second successive season while the White Pointers @Bearfly would displace the Ducks @thokash in 8th if they manage to win against the Shags.

In a tightly fought contest, Maralinga defeats Mole Creek.

Mole Creek 1362 def by Maralinga 1418

Is this the loss we 'needed to have' leading into the finals, or something more concerning

Was too busy to check thoroughly over the weekend but no surprises with the result from the scores I did see. Well done to the Noahs!

It appears that the Shags have given the White Pointers a smashing, which would see the Ducks remain in 8th spot despite suffering 6 losses in a row to end the regular season.

Pending the round rollover confirming the above reported unofficial results the first week of finals would be
QF - MCG (1) vs NIN (4) and WPW (2) vs MLA (3)
    EF - DDB/ULV (5) vs JJD (8) and DDB/ULV (6) vs NKB (7)

Which avoids the fixturer's nightmare of MCG vs MLA and WPW vs NIN for 2 weeks straight, even if hosting duties for the second match would be flipped.

Betting agencies have closed Dangerfield medal markets with rumours of a 2 way tie on 41 points, to be confirmed once the rollover is completed.

Congrats to all of the finalists and thanks to everyone else for playing in what has been a crazy year of ORFFF footy setting up the finals series very nicely.

Oh wow, I think I would have preferred being put out of my misery to be honest! Mr Statsman @TheTassieHawk what is the worst W/L and/or total points to have made a top 8 before?

Do we have the week off before finals? I lost Aliir and Hawkins on top of my existing problems this week but might have some reinforcements if we have a week off.

I think the tie-breaker for ladder positions should be % instead of total points-for. Even if its for this year only! lol
I would have been happy to make finals again

Teams to finish below .500 and to qualify for the ORFFF Finals
    - 2019 - HIS 7-8 (8th) - lost in the EF
    - 2023 - NKB 7-8 (7th) - plays ULV away
    - 2023 - JJD 6-9 (8th) - plays DDB away

Lowest aggregate points scored in a season that team made the finals - 4 averaged less than 1240 per week in non COVID seasons
    - 2017 - MCG 8-7 17443
    - 2023 - JJD 6-9 18192
    - 2020 - ULV 8-7 18433 (COVID affected)
    - 2022 - RGF 8-7 18529
    - 2017 - MIW 9-6 18566

In 2018 MTB were the lowest points scored of the top 8 with 19238 (ie an average of over 1280 per week) but in all other seasons at least one team qualified under 19 000 points.
