Trade Protest - @anthak @Dale Duivesteyn Noah Anderspon is certainly not worth 2 players and future Round 1 pick, there's overs and then then there's ....well this. I would like the Commissioner or Board to review this trade please.
Feel free to, I think coaches disagree and I only JUST agreed with this.. The guy is 23/24 averaging 111 already. I had another offer that wasn't far off this, happy for review. Worst case scenario I keep a young kid that'll average 120 this year. Matt crouch is a risk, I mean borderline last year. One bad game he is on outer. Forgetting to mention both these guys are nearing 30.. Happy for review I'll add for context that I've put 4 years of hope into Anderson and just as he enters his peak I'm saying goodbye to a pick 2 (mtb will likely be midrange next year) and two guys in the last year's of their peak There was another trade on offer to mix up some picks to send more now Anthak's way, Anthak's preference was this
Happy for people to give their views, but I'm very comfortable giving up what I have for Noah Anderson.
Keep in mind the two players leaving Heard Island are both 28 and at the end of their prime, whereas Anderson has just turned 23 and has already averaged 100+ the last two seasons. Players aged 28+ are of no use to me anymore now that Ive decided to blow it up, except as trade assets. Also the draft pick is from Mt Thirsty, so I suspect a likely end-of-round pick. Draft picks are not guaranteed of success - there are so many busts. Noah Anderson is already a proven star and is so young. And he is around the same age of the other players on my list who I rate highly and want to build around - Blakey, Mitchell, Cox, Ford et al. I'm setting myself up for the future with this trade, and have absolutely no regrets.
@anthak @Dale Duivesteyn Coaches it's not about weather you two are happy with the trade, you obviously are because you've come to an agreement. The Draft and Trades are there to equalise the competition hence why the premier doesn't get pick 1 and a team shouldn't get a player for nothing. It's about the trade being fair and equitable taking away the rose coloured glasses (i.e. beauty is n the eye of the beholder). All 'm asking is the question for someone objectively look at the trade.
The question has been asked, I was approached for Anderson, by no means did I dangle an "Anderson" carrot to rip anyone off. Let's hope this doesn't ruin trade deadline. I'll be making enquiries if this is vetoed after deadline. I think for an "untouchable" player the price is whatever the two coaches make it. If I started the Anderson enquiry I'd be a tiny bit more sympathetic.
Its a prime example of two teams being at different stages of their list-build. This is a keeper league and we need to be able to make trades such as this. In the ORFFA several years ago in 2018, I traded the farm for a young 24yo Rory Laird and it raised some eyebrows at the time, because what I gave up was unprecedented in that league at the time, but then Rory Laird ended up going on to be a key player in our 2022 ORFFA Premiership, 4 years after the trade - he won the ORFFA League B&F that season and averaged 125 SC ppg through the ORFFA Finals series, including being BOG in the grand final win! This is what keeper leagues are all about IMO. A player is only worth what someone will pay for them. I sent off 6 enquiries last night for players similar to Anderson. I only got 2 replies. one was a no, and Dale was willing to negotiate. Others had their chance but didnt even reply.
What Im saying is that it is difficult to be objective, because none of us know what the future will hold. Everyone has different tactics in building their lists over number of years.
A poll has been opened and will run for 48 hours ending Friday evening. For those vetoing please vote above and comment below so we know who apart from YAD69 has vetoed.
the relevant sections of our rarely visited ORFFF rules 4. TRADES 4(f) Trades will be cancelled if 4 ORFFF coaches believe the trade is unbalanced in favour of one of the participating teams and cast a veto vote in the relevant thread. 4(g) Teams will have 48 hours to veto a trade (e.g. If a trade is proposed at 2.15pm on a Tuesday, ORFFF coaches have until 2.15pm on a Thursday to cast their votes). The ORFFF Commissioner or Trading & Lists Manager will announce the trade is cancelled if 4 vetos were posted in the timeframe. 4(h) Traded assets can be on-traded within the 48 hour veto period, provided that the on-trading party clearly communicates (via relevant thread) the conditional nature of the asset.
The current veto vote is 0-11, mathematically that means a maximum of 3 vetoes will be reached. As it is possible that the 11 “No”s includes some ineligibles it is also still possible that 4 vetoes are reached, however this appears to be indicating a strong likelihood that the trade will stand. I thank everyone who has voted already and encourage anyone who hasn’t to do so before the poll closes.
Got 13 votes now and the poll is about to close. I assume that’s everyone voted except Yad. I take it the trade has been approved.
