    Dis what @snoz did

Round 5 review……late, late, late, late, apols all!

Started a new job, being pushed & pulled all day then I come home and go to bed. Old men do that,
after a few beers! Another round of two teams on a bye with one more coming this week. Hate this fixture.
A brief write up follows, and yes I’ve used current ladder standings post round 5 instead of pre round 5
standings for this review cos I didn’t realize till after I’d written it. The choice was to go back and fix
it or have another beer. Duh !

The 2-3 Lovely Banks 1141 go down to the 1-4 Misfits 1198 who get their first win of the year.
Poor Jen, injuries and byes….no emergencies needed but only one bench player probably
decided this match up. The Lilacs Stewart 108, Bolton 123, Wines 109, Amon 106, Stanley 106
all tonned up. The core is definitely there, just need the depth. Len’s mob come out on top with
Whitfield 109, Jelly 104, Jezza 140 and Kelly 123 leading the charge. Even though this is Len’s
first win of the season, his mob is only 300 points behind 4th place on the ladder. Tough start !

Ladder leading 4-1 Cradle Mountain 1276 hold on to take down the 11th placed 2-3 Wombats 1239.
A much closer than expected tussle, DM relied on stalwarts Vlastuin 111, Steele 143, old man Zorks 116
and RoMa 120 to eek out the win. Timmy English with a 58 is a concern for all SCers going forward.
Lenny had Bergs 101, Libba (exhausted?/ankle?/concussion?) 101, Rayner 137 and Rozee 125 to lean on but this match was probably decided when he decided to run Brodie Smith oop in the ruck with a 37,
which I’m sure he had no choice but that doesn’t fit the narrative!

3-2 Wineglass 981 goes down to the mighty mighty mighty envy of all (shut up I’m writing this) 4-1 Hoppers 1154.
Hewett 105, Ash 122, McGrath 99 tried hard for the Packers, but were let down by Sam Taylor’s crushing
knock with 13 and Oscar Baker attempting to ruck with an oop 16 (thank %$# for me). The usual majestic
Hopper lads of Neale 109, Cripps 110, McClugg 113, Curnow 109, Rankine 137 led the way for the good guys from OS but some crippling injuries to Saad 26 & Cogs 65 does not bode well for the coming weeks.

Mike & my fave 1-4 Larrikins 1106 sadly go down to the 4th place juggernauts 4-1 Uglies 1246.
The South Australians were held up by Bowes 104, Anderson 155 (wow) and Acres 116 but were
dragged down by Cmac’s 24 and SPP’s 38. The Uglies are beginning to annoy me. Young 114, Rioli 116,
Butters 130, Walsh 166 (stop it), Hill 132 & Gawn 138. But then you have Nic Cox 54 filling in for Maynard
and a donut on the INT bench and you still win? Get stuffed Bama.

JC – wtf man ? The 1-4 Battlers 1044 go down to old/new coach Chris with his 2nd place 4-1 Nuffers 1225.
Ryan 145, Flanders 116, Andrews 108, Ainsworth 101….one of the best SC defenders and one of only 2 of the best forwards in SC were leaned on heavily by JC, but CNash 28 and a big fat mid donut stalled that charge.
Chris would be proud of Idun 105, Redman 105, Langford 100, Serong 110 & Rowell 135 to take charge
but HH filling in for the mids with a 35 and an INT bench totaling 69 points shows some cracks in this mob.

My boy from the North Island. The 3-2 Waikickamoocow’s 1272 crush Churchboy’s 1-4 Iron Knob 981.
ROB 99, Dunks 122, Hinge 105 and where the f%$^ did that come from Treacy 135 led all Cows, but this
spelling thing has me confused. For such a wordsmith, can someone tell Graeme that his beloved Cows
are spelt WITHOUT the C in TS Leagues, which he would have originally set up!! Poor Churchboy had it tough.
Nicky Martin 100, Witts 112 were lone warriors. Fave rook McKerch took a knock for 6, Max King took another knock for 9 and starting DeGoey 0 when he was probably over here in NY in a robe for the bye week wasn’t good.

Are you Cursing this? The 2-3 Beetles 1101 are taken down by Anth’s 3-2 Cockatoos 1273.
Sheeeeez the stud with a 159, the 2nd coming of God Harley Reid with a 108 cannot fix a Matty Roberts 0
when he is on Bondi Beach for the Bye, a weightless 34 from Cody and an aWard 16. This mob has talent, but the FWD’s and INT need work. Anth had Farrell 115, enigma Chayce Jones 100 and the ever reliable Touk with a 133. Solid depth across the board, some concerns but seemed primed to be there again when it matters.

Only 13 points separated the 3-2 Spelunkers 1199 and the 2-3 Vultures 1212 in the rounds closet match.
Get Stuffed had Zerrett 108, Brayshaw 111, Berry 108, Rivers 101 and you have to be kidding me Waterman with a 157. Short said FU, so he filled in the hole in the defense with a 15! Fitzy had Houston 121 and the 400 year old stud Elliot Yeo going bonkers with a 157, but also a Dale 12 and a Windsor 38. No other tons. Yet still won.
I’m not smart enough to figure out how Fitzy won, but he did, and a small part of my stuffed heart smiles.
    Sorry Jaime, love ya !

    Thanks @snoz ! Love it

Not sure my mob is primed this season… Somehow we have a winning record at this early stage of the season, but I don’t think it’ll continue that way.

top work @snoz , btw Josh Treacy is a valued member of the cows forward line - it's just that I keep forgetting to play him :D

That's great work @snoz - yeah, happy the forwards and backs turned up to play because my midfielders were down to bare bones with byes and injuries. And of course the week Charlie Cameron goes nuts I have him on the bench.

Happy to welcome Chad and Errol back this week, and Charlie too. Poor Jack Ross will be missing a while though and Nathan Murphy is now an ex-Nuffer given his retirement. Hoping Paddy Dow returns soon - I'd suspect he may get a run at StKilda right now.

My kingdom for a consistent forward line :) Mid-year draft and trade period may be the fix.
