After 17 home and away rounds the 2024 ORFFF finals series commences with 4 mouthwatering fixtures as follows

QF1 - #1 Mt Thirsty Boozers (15-2) vs #4 Drouin Dropbears (12-5)

• Last time they met - 2024 Rd 6 - MTB 1333 def DDB 1241

• A red-hot Boozers side have strung together 8 straight wins to pip the Noahs at the post for the 2024 minor premiership while the emerging Drouin side similarly did enough to edge the Pony's for 4th to secure the all important doubles chance
• The 2017 premiers have rebounded from a disappointing 2023 season to be this seasons big improvers with a decent chance to join the Woylies, Glowies and Noahs on 2 premierships apiece
• The Dropbears fearless young core will look to stand up in the ehat of the finals furnace and stamp themselves as the next dynasty of the Triple F

• Last time they met - 2024 Rd 2 - WPW 1395 def NIN 1323
• Finals records - NIN 16-6, WPW 10-6
• Previous finals meetings - WPW ahead 2-0 - 2020 GF WPW 1508 - NIN 1469 and 2019 GF WPW 1324 - NIN 1295
• The Noahs will be playing in their 160th ORFFF match in a matchup of the two most experienced finals sides, both outfits know what it takes to secure victory in August and clash for the 3rd time in ORFFF finals history, so expect a match of the highest calibre and another epic head to head clash

EF1 - #5 The Stony Ponys (11-6) vs #8 Black Swamp 29ers (10-7)

• Last time they met - 2024 Rd 12 - TSP 1298 lost to 29ers 1358
• Finals records - TSP 8-4, 29ers 0-3
• This fixture is the first head to head finals match
• TSP lead the all time Head to Head 5-4
• The Ponys have continued to set a high standard in their first season stateside and will be playing their 150th competition match while the 29ers have built strongly since a 1-5 start and will be aiming to secure their first ever finals win after breaking a 5 season finals drought

EF2 - #6 Useless Loop Virgins (11-6) vs #7 Wedge Island White Pointers (10-7)

• Last time they met - 2024 Rd 13 - ULV 1343 def WIW 1143
• Finals records - ULV 6-8, WIW 1-1
• This fixture is the first head to head finals match
• The Virgins and White Pointers have alternated in 6th and 7th positions since ORFFF Round 6 so an elimination Final matchup between the 2 sides is no surprise
• The Virgins boast a miserly defence but will be facing another rising force in the competition who return to finals action after a disappointing 2023 campaign and will be striving to make their 140th ORFFF match a happy one

Please note that loopholing opportunities abound in the first week of August action due to the Friday night AFL double slate and the standard 145pm Saturday ORFFF round lockout.

Black Swamp Finals Week 1

The 29ers match committee have named their lineup (subject to change) for the Elimination Final matchup with The Stony Ponys @snoz

Only 2 survivors (Bont and Hardwick) remain from the 29ers last finals match in 2018, so the coaching staff have given the playing group freedom to play fast flowing and aggressive footy in order to spring an upset against the home side.

 

Per the unofficial scoreboard the 29ers 11/986 leading the Pony's @snoz 8/596 by 390 points midway through the 3rd quarter.

The 29ers have 4 players running out to the Ponys 5 in the 2 early Sunday games and will be battling hard to maintain a lead that challenges the home sides McLuggage and Rayner as they run out unopposed in the final stanza of ORFFF finals week 1.
