This week is Grand Final week in SuperCoach, for those that made it that far in leagues anyway, and unfortunately it's looking more and more likely to also be my last writing the Best Buys. Time pressures are continuing to mount and I don't feel that I'm doing this article justice at the moment and as such I think it's looking like time to move on and let someone else take over. Expressions of interest should be sent to walesy if you're thinking about contributing to the site next season (I'm specifically looking at you ORFFL/A folk, as well as people like TheTassieHawk, JPK, anthak, etc).
With all the time constraints, and it being grand final week and all, the Best Buys this week is very different to those previous, consisting of just 2 players per position. Each player has been picked due to their recent form, opponent this week and selection rate, and hopefully they provide you all with some decent options to consider when attempting to spring a surprise on your opponent.
DEFENSE
Corey Enright (GEE) DEF 482.4k 95 4.7%
Enright has been a solid defender this season in SC, playing 19 games to date with an average of 95. He's price under 500 grand, scored 107 last match to keep his 3 game average at 108, and is sitting in just 4.7% of sides. With Hodge out and needing a trade Enright is the best available replacement on recent form while still being a POD. The Cats play off against Collingwood on Friday night in a must-win game for Geelong, although the Pies will be looking to make amends for a poor showing against Richmond last week.
Michael Hurley (ESS) DEF 488.4k 94 2.7%
Hurley has been unreliable so far this season, but we only need him to stand up for one game. Averaging 94 for the season after his 113 last week he has now scored 110+ in 3 of his last 4 games, and is playing against a flying Richmond side on Saturday who should have the ball down Hurley's end much more often than not. A somewhat surprising 2.7% of teams have picked Hurley, even though he is still in talks about the AA team, and he has great POD potential if he can just maintain his current form.
MIDFIELD
Rory Sloane (ADE) MID 544.8k 106 7.8%
Sloane has been the bane of more than a few SCers this season, only playing 14 games and suffering repeat injury absences. This has however, meant that he is now in only 7.8% of sides going into the final round. When he has played he's generally been excellent, and especially recently when he has averaged 140 form his last 3 games including a 149 last match. A tough game West Coast this week will be season-defining for the Crows, and all players will be looking to fire and secure that top-8 spot.
Cameron Guthrie (GEE) MID 551.1k 95 1.2%
Guthrie has come from nowhere a bit in the latter stages of the season, his last 4 games have all returned scores of 110+ giving him an average of 129 from his last 3 games. As mentioned with Enright a big game awaits Guthrie on Friday night, and with Collingwood likely to apply a hard tag to players such as Selwood, Bartel and even Motlop Guthrie should be left to roam free. Sitting in just 1.2% of teams Guthrie has excellent POD potential, but as with almost all the options here today he carries some significant risks.
RUCK
Aaron Sandilands (FRE) RUC 627.1k 107 10.4%
Sandi is the only player in the Best Buys this week to have a selection rate of over 10%, but at 10.4% I'd still consider him a POD and his recent form just can't be ignored. A score of 142 last week against the best ruckman in the comp currently in Goldstein proved he's capable of scoring well even against the best opposition, although playing Melbourne this week should be an easier task. Incredibly Sandi has pumped out 140+ in each of his last 4 games, giving him an average of 144 from his last 3. For anyone with the ability to bring in a ruckman this week Sandi has to be considered, although there is still the possibility of some late-out Ross Lyon shenanigans on Sunday.
Matthew Kreuzer (CAR) RUC 484.7k 93 4%
Kreuzer seems to have made a habit of coming into contention just when he's needed in SC, although he most often ends up costing his coaches more than they benefit. A massive score of 147 in his last game is an indicator that he might finally be past his injury issues, for this season anyway, and a match this weekend against the Mummy-less Giants will give him the opportunity to once again produce some big numbers. After his big score last week he is averaging 115 from his last 3 games, and is sitting in only the 4% of teams made up of die-hard Carlton supporters and those who gave up on SC some time ago. Probably the riskiest player here today, and one specifically aimed towards those that are in serious danger of copping a belting this week.

FORWARDS
Aaron Hall (GCS) FWD 505.6k 76 0.7%
Hall has been excellent in his last 3 games, seemingly appearing out of nowhere to produce an average of 138 over that time. His score of 139 last week in a tight win over the Dons was excellent, as was his 150 against the Lions 2 weeks earlier, and he should have every opportunity to back it up this week against the surprise Hawthorn-beating Power on Saturday. Hall is quite expensive for his numbers, especially with an overall average of just 76, but he is sitting in only 0.7% of teams and is the essence of risk vs reward SC.
Josh J Kennedy (WCE) FWD 428.7k 94 8.5%
JJK has been a great contributor for the Eagles this year, however his SC results have been fairly inconsistent. His overall average for the season of 94 is serviceable, but his 150 last week against the red-hot Dogs is what really stands out. Sitting 17 goals clear of his nearest rival in the Coleman race JJK is every chance to kick a few more this week against Adelaide, and with a selection rate of 8.5% he makes for a good POD. If Freo drop one of their last 2 games, against Melbourne and then Port at Adelaide Oval, then the Eagles can still take out the minor premiership, and in a season where they weren't rated by many I would suspect that they'll give it a real crack.
So that's it for the final Best Buys for the year, and possibly ever from me, so a huge thanks to all that commented and supported me along the way and whatever happens I'll look forward to seeing you around the site next year.Good luck to everyone, it really has been a privilege for me.
Cheers, Iain (BB).
