Yet, here we are - my whole starting defence out, and Lyons and Brown with better starts to the season than Westhoff and Edwards. And old man Maric licking his chops at the chance of taking on a Port side without a recognised ruckman.
The Cows' management team are currently experiencing a period of hope while delaying the inevitable sense of despair that will arise when we see the scarce resources we have at our disposal this week. The only points we have resolved so far are: 1. We will put a team out; and 2. We will delay naming the team as long as possible to maintain the sense of hope that still pervades our deliberations.
