Round 10 - Geek Pride Round

    Birdsville (1101) defeated Gundagai (1051)

The talent at the Grasshoppers is finally starting to show, however they weren’t able to overcome Birdsville in a scrappy affair. The Battlers were unlucky to have Marc Murphy go down early, but Treloar (103) and Hunter (102) continued their sublime form. A lack of backline depth hurt the Hoppers, despite great outings from Curnow (128) and Neale (118).

Charlies Opening (1040) defeated by Cradle Mountain (1114)

This was an evenly matched contest between two teams hovering around the top 8, with Cradle Mountain comfortably getting the job done. The Spelunkers were hurt by a backline donut which was perhaps the difference in the match, with Kieran Jack (120) easily their best performer. For the Devils, it was usual suspects Pendles (118), Zaharakis (122) and Zorko (114) that ensured the win.

Wineglass Bay (1028) defeated by Iron Knob (1223)

Iron Knob will be a little disappointed with their start to the season, with a win over the Packers steadying the ship. Ablett (143) might be back to his best, while Roberton (102) finally proved his worth for Coach Jim. The Packers midfield failed to fire, with Lachie Henderson (105) the only player to crack the ton.

Darraweit Guim (1277) defeated by Larrikin Lagoon (1405)

The clear second-best team of the competition, the Lefties were again very impressive in their win over Darraweit. Jordan Lewis (141) fired in his 250th, while Goddard (130) had plenty of it. The Dirigibles put up a decent fight, with Armitage (149) returning to form, but Boomer Harvey (46) and Tyson (47) were unusually quiet.

Whitsunday (1108) defeated by Venus Bay (1231)

The Vultures are quietly slipping under the radar, easily accounting for the Warriors. Coach Fitzy will be frothing at the year of Sam Docherty (121), and Howe (125) has improved immensely. A big late effort from JJK (146) wasn’t enough for Whitsunday who had a few too many passengers, and TiB will know a win is essential next week to stay in the race for the top 8.

Waikikamoocow (1280) defeated Marble Bar (1127)

A very important win for the Incorrigibles who remains a threat to the top 8. The Sydney midfield brigade Tom Mitchell (178), Hannebery (126) and McVeigh (116) were all outstanding and helped secure the win. The Misfits are struggling for consistent output, but will be very excited with the future of Josh Kelly (132).

Nunawading (1133) defeated Lovely Banks (958)

A poor showing from the Lilacs after their win last week, who were beaten easily by the Nuffers. JPK (161) loved the contested style game, while Naitanui (112) was consistent as usual. The Lilacs need more from their experienced players, as inconsistency from their youngsters is expected during the rebuild.

Mount Beauty (1407) defeated Gariwerd (1374)
The game of the round. A very gallant effort in defeat from the Cockatoos, who could make a late dash for the finals with this sort of form. The Uglies regained their place in the top 4, well led by The Beard (167) and Cotchin (122). Steven (138) and Wingard (136) ensured the Cockatoos fought until the very end, marginally failing to get the four points.

Foul Bay (1357) defeated Wagga Wagga (1302)

The Chooks are simply untouchable at the moment, despite a brave effort from the Wombats. Dangerfield (127) has been outstanding, but it’s the interchange depth of Liberatore (89) and James Kelly (95) that is imperative to Foul Bay’s success. Gibbs (140) will have one eye on the Les W medal for the Wombats, but Van Berlo’s (40) days might be numbered.

Round 11 (AFL 11) … Football Players Scandal Round

Top work Lenny, a much appreciated summary. I think suggesting we are a threat to anyone (other than ourselves) is a little OTT.

Nice write up Lenny. Short and sweet, just like my lovemaking. Just ask my wife. The Nuffers are looking forward to the Fevalicous R11. It's our GF. The Nuffettes have splashed out on new G strings and we've organised a bulk buy from Chemist warehouse, wink, wink. We've invited Venus Bay down a day early so as to help them settle into celebrating the Nuffers way and to witness the unveiling of the Fev dildo statue out the front of Nuffer Stadium. Just thinking about it gets me all choked up with a tear in the eye.

"Fitzy will be frothing at the year of Sam Docherty"

Sounds ominous (and a bit unsettling).

Thanks for the write up, Lenny. The Battlers probably got a couple more mentions than their form deserves! :)

Surely the Hoppers and the Spelunkers is match of the round... sNoZ will be aiming his laser guidance systems straight at my forward line, because my Mids and backs are shite!

      Good one Lenny120.

The wombats got pretty close to the untouchable mate, well played.

Youve gotta travel over to Gariwerd now. Looking forward to the game :)
