With a game on tonight, it's going to be a bit of a scramble for anyone needing to make a trade.

Biggest question I need to ask myself is the $213k question. To WHE, or not to WHE.

I wasn't a fan all preseason, and maybe should back my gut, but it was a great score for the lad.

Alternatively, can always hold another week, no need to do anything rash just yet.

I'm thinking WHE is going to be necessary for cash generation... as much as it pains me to see him doing well. Possibly McCarthy to WHE will be next weeks trade but his score last week probably wouldn't have been too bad if he'd kicked a bit straighter.

Also, its nice to see Jack Leslie getting another run!!! ;)

Well I completely screwed up and left my team with the Smith to McGrath trade with my head in last week mode and being able to trade all round long until players were locked. I was all aboard the Marchbank hype train after reading all these comments.

I'll be watching McGrath v Marchbank all year long now...

From my rookies Hampton, Otten, Stewart, Florent, SPP, Barrett, Pickett, Butler and Houston survive - not bad

while Hibberd, Parfitt, Preuss, Houston and Eddy on the 7 man interchange - hopefully 4 or 5 (and others such as Hannan and Mountford if you have them) survive tonight's 5pm cut.

Of the "rookies" dropped so far Menzel and Shoenmakers were quite low ownership while Smith is out injured for long enough that he is likely to be traded out by most owners unless they can utilise him as a loophole option.

On the incoming side of things Miles, Newman, Fox, and Hayward are named to play their first game - hopefully a few of these do well and can be traded in for Round 4 if needed. Hayward appears not to have played during the JLT while Miles and Fox both averaged around 50 from 3 games and 70% TOG, Newman played the opening game and had impressive stats (their opposition may have been fairly weak).

Atley, Drew and Harry McKay (Carl) on 7 man benches and could possibly debut - none of these had very impressive JLT stats

Hmm, anyone know if you can reverse a single trade by doing the same trade in reverse ?
ie: Smith to McGrath, then go McGrath to Smith ?
I'm pretty sure it will then count as two trades, just thought I'd ask ! (Still salty about my stuffup)

Queensland reporter Michael Whiting churning out the pars for us here on Late Mail Live. Good signs for two highly-rated Lions youngsters:

THE BRISBANE Lions got their first run on the Gabba for 2017 on Friday morning, with two of their prized youngsters showing good signs on the way back from injury.

Josh Schache (knee) and Hugh McCluggage (ankle) have missed more than a month of footy, but ran strongly in a light session under sunny skies.

The pair of teenagers have been chosen to play in the NEAFL against Sydney in Bankstown on Saturday, as the Lions near almost a full list to pick from.

Schache, the number two draft pick in 2015, and McCluggage, number three last year, are both in the Lions' best 22 when fit and would likely need just one strong game to put their hand up for senior selection.

No.23 draft pick Alex Witherden will also play his first game in almost a year after overcoming a broken leg.

Injuries have ravaged the Lions in recent seasons, but only Allen Christensen (collarbone), Rhys Mathieson (ankle) and Sam Skinner (ACL) are unavailable this weekend.

I hate the first round trade but ;) thinking I need to get in WHE, Marchback and Hannan.

1 option is Eddy to Hannan this week, allowing Beams and Smith to Marchback and WHE next week

Going for overall (currently 6,000th after spending most of last year in top 20) and think that cash generation is going to be critical this year (and challenging). Would allow me to go from 2 bench and 1 on field to 3 on field players.

      TU: Risk/Reward worth it
TD: You are crazy! Take your finger off the trigger dude.

Hanners stunk it up again, looks like he will have to go next week, on the other hand Florent looked reasonable and looked like he would have got more than the 48 he was credited with.

I am thinking similarly with WHE, Hannan and Steele/Nank on my shopping list unless one of the cheaper rookies has a massive Round 2 score.

As with your case Eddy to Hannan appears to be my best first trade option even though it is gambling that Hannan stays in the best 22, it would appear Hannan and ANB are keeping Kent out for at least this week but would expect him in the side reasonably soon.
