Thanks for the write ups port some very big upsets . commiserations thokash it was a dominant season and deserved more than a first round exit.
Winning this comp is not easy. New found respect for the previous winners for sure! As Sam Newman would say, imagine how good you have to be to win 3 of them? We will be back for 2018 to mount another challenge!
Thanks for the kind words, Eddie. Didn't really do a lot. I can see this song being requisitioned by Mallacoota tonight as, "Will I ever win a finals game again?" *riff*
HDH issues a statement that after another close finals loss to the jar that poor efforts in finals will not be tolerated. But recriminations can wait until after mad Monday. Relton lives for the day each year.
Poowong will be back bigger and better next year, encouraged by our form revival in the second half of 2017. Disappointing to lose to the Mount Buggeryers after posting a much bigger score just one week earlier. Whilst we may not have won the epic battle on the weekend, we did notice that a certain Longer happened to outscore a certain Mills.
Tell you what, with Goldie putting up his current numbers, I reckon we'd be way better off with Longer atm!
I only had one 'spare' emergency in Jack Silvagni. Yet this week he managed to outscore every single one of the four forwards that I selected! Would only have given me an extra 16 points (if I played Silvagni over Darling at F3) or 17 points (if I played Silvagni over Johnson at INT2) which wouldn't have made up the 19 points between our final scores.
Thought I was done for sure without a ruck this week, just got it damnnn After last years round 1 exit (when I was 2nd) glad I flipped it this year and made it through. Be good to have mummy back this week
Congrats to all the winners, particularly Smiths Beach and commiserations to thokash, the Magicians deserved more after a dominant year. As I alluded to before the weekend I had a bad feeling which unfortunately proved to be accurate. Overall though am happy with the year and think I have a squad that can be a regular challenger for a more few years.
Yeah, I didn't think you'd actually put him on the field. Smart decision. If I've learnt anything over the years it's that hubris doesn't win finals (unless of course your team is so good that it doesn't matter. Fine line though).
Yeh he was really no chance of playing first up unless we were lacking depth. IN: Riewoldt, Davis, Bellchambers OUT: Sutcliffe, Rioli, Watson
Sorry, Fixtures now uploaded. Just a bit late but luckily not too late. Don't think it would have affected entering team lineups at all but it's obviously nice to see who you're playing.
@Doobs Did you forget about out of position players scoring? Could have used some help in your forward line, even if it may not matter in the end. MBD looking dominant against Glenrowan and should canter through you'd think. 882/11 v 815/12. Some absolute monster scores in the other game. Sarah Island's midfield corp gone absolutely nuts yet Smith's Beach still in it even if advantage is with the Savages, who have OOP ruck Mayne to come too. SAR 872/9 v SBS 945/10
I think I'm 1027/11 now.. someone will need to double check. TBC came in huge tonight! It will be a nailbiting finish.. not sure I have enough to cover tge 1.5 player advantage
Yeah sorry I forgot Gleeson's score. Basically: 155pts & O.Macdonald, Steven, N.Riewoldt, Weller vs Prestia, Steele, Stevens, Bruce, Lewis, Da Mun* Going to be a great showdown.
