The Round 2 fixture with 2018 wins and losses is:-

Mt Thirsty Boozers (1-0) vs Maralinga Atoms (1-0) The reigning premiers will unfurl the 2017 flag in front of their adoring but very sloshed fans in Round 2 as they take on a Maralinga side that would be setting their sights on a win which would potentially contribute a lot to breaking their finals drought in 2018.

The reigning premiers will be looking to make it 14 (not 13 as originally written) straight and take the lead in the all time head to head which currently stands at 1 apiece, with the visiting teams winning both times including a 66 point win to the Boozers in Round 3, 2017.

Black Swamp 29ers (1-0) vs Rutherglen Fugitives (1-0)
Rutherglen started off with a band in Round 1 and will pose a tough challenge for the 29ers who opportunistically took advantage of 14 man Drouin effectively running out 2 short with the absence of the twice Dangerfield Medallist Patrick Dangerfield. Last week. All time Head to head honours are tied at 1 all with double digit wins to the visiting sides with Rutherglen defeating the 29ers last time the sides met in Round 5 2017.

Port Lincoln Power (1-0) vs Walpole Woylies (1-0)
The Woylies did the business easily in Round 1 and should be hard to beat in Round 2 against a Power side that appears to have 1250-1300 as its upside range. The all time Head to head is 1 apiece with triple digit wins to the home side.

Cockburn Avengers (1-0) vs Drouin Dropbears (0-1)
Danger will return this week to lift a side that suffered from his absence as well as a match committee bungle that saw the twice runners up line up a player short which was very much the difference in an 80 point upset loss. The Avengers got extremely lucky in Round 1 and one feels they will need to improve considerably to make it 2-0 against a competition heavyweight. Drouin leads the all time head to head 2-0 with a win by over 340 points when the teams last clashed in Round 3, 2017.

Heard Island Shags (0-1) vs Neptune Island Noahs (1-0)
The Shags started off with a ‘mare last week and face another 2017 finalist in Round 2 as they take on a Noahs side that won comfortably in Round 1 and all indications are that their disappointing first week exit from 2017 finals in 2017 does not signal an impending tumble down the ladder in 2018. Once again the Shags are chasing their first win over this week’s opponent with their two previous clashes being very tight affairs with 53 (2016 round 5) and 6 point (2017 round 3) margins respectively.

MacQuarie Island Whales (0-1) vs Jan Juc Ducks (0-1)
Both sides have been strong since the ORFFF’s inception and would be favored to make the finals in 2018 despite losing first up and facing an 0-2 record should they lose this weeks matchup. Their previous clashes have both been won by double digits by the home side with their 2017 Round 10 clash favoring the Ducks by 51 points.

Useless Loop Virgins (0-1) vs Wedge Island WhitePointers (0-1)
Based on Round 1 and 2017 form the home side should bounce back from a first up defeat.Wedge Island can only improve this week and will be setting their sights on an upset win on the road to get their 2018 campaign kick started. Wedge Island holds a surprising 2-0 all time head to head record with their 2016 clash being decided by 15 points before the 2017 Round 10 clash was decided by a slightly bigger 25 point margin.

Mole Creek Glow-Worms (0-1) vs Nangkita Bucks (0-1) - The eagle eyed among you may have noticed that the 2018 ORFFF fixture sees one match a week between the teams ranked 11-16 in 2017 and the Round 2 clash may well be each teams best chance for a win in the next few rounds. The wooden spooners from 2017 have lost 5 straight but will start as slight Round 2 favourites having defeated Nangkita both times the teams have met by 55 (2016) and 29 (2017) points respectively. Their 2017 Round 11 clash was Nangkita's 6th straight loss and that streak now stands at an ORFFF record equalling 11 straight, matching Mole Creek’s 2016-17 record they snapped in the same 2017 Round 11 clash. The Bucks will be desperate not to claim the outright record.

In the opening week of the 2018 ORFF* Knockout we also have Port Lincoln travelling to Woy Woy (ORFFL), the Glow-Worms travelling to Wagga Wagga (ORFFA) in their inaugural Intercomp match and the 29ers hosting the ex ORFFF rivalry round franchise owner @choppers Bangchang (ORFFU).

Once again team entry can be done at http://tooserious.net/forum/tsLeagues.php?leagueId=14 (just click the green button under Submit Team).

The AFL Grand Final replay is another Thursday night match so make sure that you update players as required before the partial lockout starts.

    Good luck all.

Our 13 game winning streak (I think its already 13) is in danger of coming to an end with Ryder going down, we head with one of the shortest guys to ever ruck, in Billy Hartung. The Boozers round 2 team is:

    Mid: T Rockliff, T Mitchell, M Murphy, J Sinclair (B Banfield)
    Ruck: B Hartung
    Fwd: L Franklin, J Cameron, J Billings, B Brown (J Cripps)
    Int: S Motlop, J Trengove (J Webster)

A reminder to all that it appears that the full ORFFF lockout may be in place from the start of the Good Friday match which being a 420pm start is fairly likely to be before the Sunday squads are cut to 22 so don't be caught out if this is the case.

Black Swamp (Round 2) - subject to late change if needed

    In - Hardwick, Roughead
    Out - Jonas, Grigg

McVeigh Mayes Hardwick SDT - Geary
Bont Beams Duckwood Newman - S Hill
Westhoff ANB Hooker S Edwards - Hayward
    Sinclair - no emg
    Henderson Jord Roughead - Grigg

Former Fugitive Roughead is the latest 29er to debut following an offseason trade while Hardwick is named for his first game of the season having filled in as an oop Ruck for a late season match against the Boozers in the 2017 season. Jonas was unlucky to be dropped for Round 2 due to matchups while Grigg has been told to find form in the ressies as a midfielder rather than an undersized OOP ruck wannabe.

Hayward is on the Sydney extended bench after a late AFL Round 1 callup in place of fellow 29er Sam Reid. Fellow emergencies Geary and Stephen Hill will also play 2nds footy if not needed as ORFFF late changes. Cutler remains an emergency in the AFL, as are Stretch and Gallucci. Lachie Fogarty was a standout in the 2nds but along with Joyce and Hunter Clark will need to show form over a 3 or 4 week period to prove their worth, while TTH has requested a one on on meeting with Stewie Dew to plead the case for a Michael Barlow AFL recall.

JDG is apparently off the grog and close to taking the field while Jack Viney is walk/running laps as he targets a return in May

Ok, finally the Boozers winning streak is over at the hands of the Atoms. Doesn’t help that the two boozers emergencies both hit triple figures.

    Boozers 5-371 vs Atoms 3-410

How big can the Atoms go this week??
