Update from the Dino Dome sees the home side in front

    Hughenden 742/9/82
    Ararat 583/8/72

Could this be the first time Hughenden beat Ararat? Plenty more to come in the last third of this game.

Final score from The Stadium sees the Barcrawlers 15/1251/83.4 def the under-manned Parasites 14/915/65.3 @ddsaints
Langdon was superb in the final term with his best ever score 121 and well supported by pocket forward Matera 79.
The visitors had a disappointing trip to Thailand with only Gaff hitting the ton, scoring 103, and now must lick their wounds and head on down south to take on The Sandgropers, who have come off a big win today over the Prospectors, while Banchang pack their bags and fly to Africa, to face The Buffaloes.
    BOG:
    3.
    Robinson 130 BB
    2. Sinclair 128 BB
    1. Gray 124 BB

    BIG TAP:
Sinclair BB won on a walkover.

Staghorn Flat Bulls / Eden Whalers Match Report

Football returned to Mill Park this week as the Bulls hosted one of their nemesis in @HOLKY 's Whalers who lead the all time H2H 4-0.

Ladder position has mattered little when these two sides have clashed previously and heading in to this clash the Bulls sat a surprising 5th (16th Points For) and Eden 17th (17th Points For) so based on points scored a close match ensued.

This match was decided in the midfield with Big Boy McEvoy (129) toying with Luenberger (76) this domination gave the Bulls first use of the pill as Whitfield (125), ex Whaler Zaharakis (120) and Coniglio (93) dominating the Whaler's midfield of Jones, Lester, Atkins & Curnow who could only combine for 245 points a deficit to the Bulls of 155 points.

The Whalers forwards were forced to push up into the midfield to get a touch of the ball and it was the Whalers Tom Lynch (127) who enjoyed roaming the wide wings at Mill Park and also caught the Bulls on the counter attack with three goals. Papley (85) & Jenkins (80) also tried hard however were often placed at extra men behind play. The Bulls often maligned defence played as a tight unit with DBJ (79) proving the run with Salem (75) whilst Jetta (78) locked down Castagna (49).

The Bulls forwards despite having the ball parked in the forward 50 didn't dominate as the weight of possession would suggest. Andrews (82) did a number on Roughead (64), whilst Tarrant (51) played a nil all draw with the Bulls Lynch (51) and with Crisp (89) outplaying McCluggage (65) who was going to kick the goals? Set up young Will Hayward (93) who in his 4th game in the FU snared 3 goals and was too quick and nimble for seasoned campaigner in Andy Otten (45).

All in all it was the Bulls who ran out convincing 149 point victors

    SFB 1234
    EW 1085

    Votes - McEvoy (SFB) 3, T Lynch (EW) 2, Whitfield (SFB) 1

Big Tap - McEvoy 129 defeated Luenberger (76)

Next weeks sees the Bulls hit the road to take on the Blowflies in a crucial battle as the Bulls continue to keep pace with the leaders whilst the Blowflies will be looking at keeping their season alive with the potential return of Sloane, Ablett & Hodge to the side will offset the likely omission of Walters (knee). The Bulls who also hope to have more than 16 available at selection with Rockliff, Lobb, B Hill & Lang (who impressed in his return to football over the weekend) all possible inclusions.

The Whalers return home and will have it all to do against Peacedale who carved out a cracking 1384 on the weekend as they try to break through for win number 1 in 2018.

    @wrightbrendan

The Bunyips hosted the Buffalos this weekend in what will go down in history as the most luck-lustre affair in the Bunyips history. When you have players such as Laird, Saad, Lambert, Jacobs, Cameron, Atley etc etc etc all unable to even make their average for the year, well, its time for some soul searching.

The Buffalos were not much better with Haynes, Dangerfield, Pendles (almost), Hickey, B Brown and Daniher all failing as well.

I think the game was done and dusted when Silvangi spent more time with his hands on his knees than on the ball and Marchbank spent more time murdering the ball than anything else!

For the visitors it was good to see Merrett (111) hitting some form (welcome to my SC team) and the homeside had the unlikely hero in Polec (122)

    BAFFU - Polec - 3
    Merrett - 2
    Pendlebury

    Big Tap - Jacobs

Cow Bay 1,188 def by King Island 1,212

The 3rd home game for the Crocs this year brought another record crowd to the ground. The previous two encounters here saw a 15 point loss and a 21 point win and, with a 3-2 record, the home town was hopeful of another hard fought win. The pre game antics of the home ground did little to unsettle the visitors when they ran out on to the ground. However, the live crocodile mascot certainly ensured the Monarchs were looking over the shoulder when they made their way to the interchange bench. A 24 point loss left the local fans a little disappointed but not disheartened after seeing the fight the young Crocs put up.

The visitors were off to a great start with Macrae's effort of 141 earning him BOG honours. He was ably supported by Swallow (104) and Cotchin (110) and they controlled the middle of the ground. Up forward Boak (109), young Fisher (87) and troubled the home side's defence and Goddard (87) provided a decent effort off the bench. When the ball was up the other end it was Gardiner (80) who stood up as well as the familiar name of Rance (79).

Although the Crocs were smashed in the middle, Blakely (113) finished the game with both shoulders strapped after carrying the midfield for 4 quarters. Lycett (109) controlled the hit outs over NicNat (70). Young revelation Taranto (102), Gunston (89) and Patton (84) made the most of their opportunities and kept the home side in the match. Witherden (92) and Scharenberg (86) did their best to stop the visitors from scoring but were overwhelmed by the amount of inside 50 entries being generated by the opposing mids.

    Big Tap
    Lycett (109) def NicNat (70)

    BAFFU
    3 Macrae, King Island, 141
    2 Blakely, Cow Bay, 113
    1 Cotchin, King Island, 110

The win sees King Island sitting in 4th position with a 5-1 record while the Crocs slip to 10th with a respectable 3-3 record.

Next week King Island heads home to host 7th placed Coolgardie. Cow Bay heads to Christmas Island to take on the 3rd placed Smugglers.

    Round 6 Trivia

Belated kudos to @Batfink Hughenden. The PDawgs round 4 score of 1,477 was the equal 13th highest ever scored.
    • The match between @wrightbrendan Serengeti and @martyg Blanchetown was the 7th lowest in FU history with just 1,830 points scored. It was also only the 5th match where both teams scored under 1,000.
    • Both Blanchetown (846) and @ddsaints Pakenham (915) recorded the lowest scores in their respective team histories.
    • @insider Ararat recorded their 60th ever win, being the first FU team to reach the mark. The Armadillos overall record now sits at 60-22 for a win percentage of 73.2%, the highest in FU.
    • @eagle_eyed Southern Cross' H&A record now sits at 37-37 and they have hit the 50% win mark. However, their overall record sits at 37-38.
    Next week:
    • Every club (bar Hughenden and Nuyts) will be taking part in their 75th H&A game.
    • Blanchetown and @DamoH Christmas Island will be taking part in the 80th match in their histories. Funnily enough, they both have 45-34 records.
    • Hughenden locals are still waiting for win 20. The team is still sitting on 19 wins overall.
    • Southern Cross has the chance to even their overall win loss record.
    • Top of the table clash Ararat v @bryzza Nuytsland sees a 3-0 record between the two sides.
    • Christimas Island leads 4-0 against the Crocs. This streak is likely to continue.
    • @Mick Korumburra is behind 0-4 when matched up against @tyze1 Staghorn.

    This time last year...

One third of the way through the season and here's how we're sitting. Some gains, some losses, some lucky and others unlucky.

So the Barcrawlers increase their av team score by 81, the highest of any team, but their wins stay the same......what am I doing wrong? :(:(:(

Maybe I should follow @eagle_eyed and drop my score by 55 but have 1 more win...;););)
