Woo hoo, no thursday night game, no rolling lockouts. And I'm going to get smashed by a @Fitzy

    THEME: FF Anonymous Round
I don't have a problem, you have a problem. No, in fact, we all have problems - the least of which may well be our obsession with fantasy football. And there's no 12-step program to deal with this obsession (unless your name is @chris88 and you just up and leave, how rude of him). So we should instead acknowledge our "issues" in a collective way through an appropriately-themed round, and then endeavour to control our desire to check fantasy scores before match scores.

Whitsunday Warriors V Wineglass Bay Packers
Charlies Opening Spelunkers V Venus Bay Vultures
Mount Beauty Uglies V Larrikin Lagoon Lefties
    Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles V Gariwerd Cockatoos
    Birdsville Battlers V Gundagai Grasshoppers
Nareewillock Nuffers V Foul Bay Chickens
Nowhere Else Wanderers V Cradle Mountain Devils
Marble Bar Misfits V Lovely Banks Lilacs
Wagga Wagga Wombats V Iron Knob Codpieces

Def: Riley Bonner, Liam Duggan, Aaron Francis, Tom Williamson
Mid: Marcus Bontempelli, Zac Merrett, Jack Bowes, Rory Atkins, (Tarryn Thomas)
Ruck: Sean Darcy, (Oliver Florent OOP)
Fwd: Sam Petrevski-Seton, Jack Higgins, Todd Marshall, Nick Blakey (Mitch McGovern)
Bench: Sydney Stack, Bayley Fritsch, (Andrew Brayshaw)

Francis and Williamson on extended benches, so there may be a late change to drop one or two OOP players in to fill.

Spelunkers match committee liking what they are starting to see out of their young list. Jack Bowes, SPS, Sydney Stack and Ollie Florent all stepping up this year. Higgins and Brayshaw going through a bit of second year duldrums. Early promising signs for Tarryn Thomas.

Looks like there’ll be just the one change at Gariwerd with Nathan Jones coming in for Jack Steven who is having a holiday up at the Nimbin Mardigrass this weekend for some much needed R&R.

Cradle Mountain Devils Round 7 team

    Out: B Daniels (omitted)
    In: R Marshall

    Defenders - M Hurley, Z Jones, D Rich, N Vlastuin (D Thomas)
    Midfielders - S Pendlebury, D Heppell, J Hopper J Steele (J Redden)
    Rucks - T Nankervis
    Forwards – L Breust, T Lynch, J Gresham, R Marshall (H Himmelberg)
    Int: D Zaharakis, D Zorko (T English)

Rowan Marshall who was a late withdrawal in Round 6 due to illness has recovered and is back in the Devils forward line for Round 7 against the Nowhere Else Wanderers. Brent Daniels who was the late inclusion for Round 6, playing his first game of the season has been omitted for Round 7.

When the Devils launched project Zorklebury in the 2017 pre-season where the club would amp up its pursuit of Cradle Mountain’s first premiership, a couple of the aims were to get to the position where all 15 players in the CMD were averaging more than 80 points per game and the team as a whole was averaging more than 1,300 points per game. For the first time the Devils have achieved this with all 15 players named for Round 7 against the Nowhere Else Wanderers all averaging more than 80 points per game and two emergencies are also in this category. Cradle Mountain are averaging 1,323 points per game ranked fourth in the ORFFA behind the Grasshoppers (1,362 points), Chickens (1,342) and Misfits (1,331). The Grasshoppers, Misfits and Devils are in the top three spots on the ladder in that order, whilst due to a difficult draw the Chickens are seventh on the ladder. Amazingly a fifth team is averaging 1,300 plus points however this has no correlate to their ladder position with the Cockatoos (1,310) fifth last on the ladder with two wins and four losses.

After Round 6, 2018 only two teams were averaging 1,300 points plus the Vultures (1,327) and Cows (1,314) and neither side ended up making the Grand Final so averaging 1,300 plus points at this early stage of the season isn’t a prerequisite to making the GF but it is a good sign that you should be in the mix. After Round 6, 2018 Cradle Mountain were averaging 1,211 points per game so it is a significant improvement 12 months later to be averaging 112 points more per game which is nine points more than the Devils top-ranked players this season- captain Scott Pendlebury and pre-season recruit Daniel Rich who are both averaging 103 points per game. Whilst the Devils can throw their hat in the ring and say they are an ORFFA premiership contender in 2019, it is a very crowded ring, as on top of the five teams averaging 1,300 plus in 2018 recent premiers/minor premiers in the Cows and Vultures were above this mark in 2018 and are likely to improve as the season progresses. The eventual 2018 Grand Finalists in the Misfits and Devils both averaged less than 1,300 points per game and it will be interesting at the end of the season how many finalists average more than 1,300 points per game, I think there is little doubt that it will be more than the two teams that were in this category last year.

I think youve mentioned the Cockies a bit too much in this paragraph ;)

Thanks for both comments @anthak, I can always count on you to pick up my mistakes. I have made a correction to the paragraph you mentioned to remove references to the Cockatoos twice and replace them with the correct team in the Grasshoppers

Cows are going ok (approx 970/10). Fielded Hibbo (97) only because there was no one else; someone at the dees decided he was such a poor tagger that they should try him as a defender. That's been the kinda Saturday we have had.

Ant (approx 700/9) will probably run all over us with the Cockys looking like having a particularly strong Sunday. Still, nice to post a better score this week.

    Thanks for the update, G!

Looks to be a close one, but the Cows are in front and it’ll be tough for my guys to overrun you

The Nuffers are having another tough weekend at the officer with a current score of 10/637 seeing us at even money to crack the 4 digit barrier in our match against the Chooks @ChiefRussell

How do you spend 89% of the game on the ground and only score 6 supercoach points? :spud: :poop::thumbsd:

Thanks ant - selection is a lot easier when there are only 17 fit players!

Lucky weekend, lets just move on and hope for some gold in the MSD. @That KI Guy - let's not make the Lefties win into a streak huh?

Speaking of selection, one of my two hundreds was actually an emergency who replaced Tuohy when he had to withdraw late (turns out he snuck off to the Mardigrass with Jack Steven too and we didn’t even know!).
