The Blowflys have done it again! The home side came back late to win another close one which now makes it 4 on the trot.

A valiant effort from the visiting Barcrawlers who are having a great season and fell just short this week.

Korumburra's "new veteran" Mundy shutting down Langdon and providing plenty of offense the other way got KB over the line in the end.

    Preliminary final scores

    KB 1283 / 15 / 86
    BB 1246 / 15 / 83

Full match report to follow @choppers

The Crocs best performance was saved to last with Bolton's 124 helping the home side take out a 122 point victory.

    Cow Bay 1301 / 15 / 86.7
    Coolgardie 1179 / 15 / 78.6

It’s not often a team scores 1045 and wins by 370-odd, but we haven’t often (ever?) seen a team as bad as the 2019 CIFC outfit:

    KIM-1045
    CIS-671

    Post-mortem to come.

Blanchetown Bunyips 1258 Def Eden Whalers 1238
    @HOLKY

The Bunyips have notched up their 2nd win of the season against the travelling Whalers. In what was a high scoring, close match it was an excellent effort from both teams.

Stand out performances from Houston (125) and Holman (128) from the home side punching well above their averages have repaid our selections. Marchbank off the interchange bench also played arguably his best game for the Yip's adding a very handy 92.

The big men in the middle had a very close match with ROB just getting the edge over Zac Clarke 66-60 to take the biccies.

Jackson Trengrove (124) and Nathan Jones (111) both played vialiantly to try and get the visitors over the line. Ex Bunyip Scott Pendlebury (85) was constantly heckled by the locals and this directly affected his output scoring 21 points below his yearly average.

3 Tooth Tommy one of our oldest and boldest supporters was quoted as saying after the match "Those Eden wankers might have a fancy bridge up there in fancy dancy land, but our mighty bridge will always be the biggest and strongest"

So for another year, the Battle of the Bridges is complete with the homeside taking the victory.

    BOG - Holman - 3
    Houston - 2
    Trengrove - 1

    Big Tap - O'Brien

@HOLKY any idea on the total score count?

Holman got the 3, I lost track because I based that gimmick on Tom Mitchell (was letting him go my worst trade?). It has come full circle though with Pendles being at Eden :p

Cow Bay 1,303 def Coolgardie 1,180
After being on the road for 3 weeks straight and suffering 3 losses, the Crocs were happy to be back home amongst the peaceful surrounds of the nearby Daintree River. Recovery sessions are a bit tough to hold at the local beach with reptiles lurking in the water. However, this week's danger were the visiting gold diggers, a team that can post a 1,200+ score on their day. With Cow Bay's recent form of 1175, 1119 and 1084, the coach was right to take extra precautions this week.

While the visitors kept pace with the high scorers in the match, there were too many Prospector passengers this week which prevented the visiting team from securing a victory. Score breakdown:
    upload_2019-5-14_13-47-2.png

The home team's defensive 4 didn't get out of second gear, with 3 defenders posting scores in the 75-80 range. McKenna (58) continues his form slump, it's almost as if he's forgotten how far he'd come and has regressed in recent weeks. Taranto (104) shone, Hopper (82) and Worpel (85) at least met expectations but Libba (72) continues to forget where the centre circle is. It doesn't help that there's a local named Bevo who has somehow got in Libba's ear that he should play forward more when his best form is in the middle. Lycett (104) stepped up winning the hitouts but the 2 most awesomest for the home side were DeGoey (114) and Bolton (126). Their heroics in front of the big sticks did wonders for team morale, to ensure the Crocs' first victory in 4 weeks and make the coach pull out his dusty laptop to type his first match report in a month.

Although they kick started their 2019 campaign with 2 straight wins, things haven't gone as planned for the Prospectors. The usual suspects Sicily (105), Macmillan (90), O'Meara (93), Dumont (89) and Parfitt (93) continued their impressive scoring feats but your shoulders start to get sore if you carry too much for too long. However, Astbury (105) got the coach's message and young Callum Brown (126) played with relish against the Crocs. After being raised in trade discussions to cross the Nullabor and head to the tropics only for the Cow Bay list committee to change their mind, Callum was proving to the home side what they had missed out on. 3 votes and a well earned BOG went to the youngster along with a polite round of applause.

Both teams didn't see any change to their ladder positions after this week's results. Cow Bay recorded their 5th win of the year to stay in 9th place whereas Coolgardie stay in 13th.

Next week Cow Bay takes on 7th placed Korumburra and Coolgardie makes the long trip back across the continent to host the 15th placed Smugglers.

    Great report @fresh
Its a real shame that my team has been belted this year, in the 'FU and in the injury list.
    Congrats to the Crocs!

Vikings 1088 defeated by Cuddas 1337

The cuddas schooled the home team showing pure class all over the ground. Mile stone man J Cripps put in a crisp performance which will most likely go down as his best game for the year. Cuddas shared the ball around and a low of 60 being there worst players score. In contrast Vikings had 5 players score below 60, shocking. Another injury to a star player Crouch, could this get any worse ? Yes it's been found out Heeney has been hiding an ankle injury all season, but least he is on the park. Some consistency needs to be found by the Vikings and the Cuddas are a dangerous side that can beat anyone, a dark horse if there stars align

    Vikings
    Brodie Grundy (141): First ruck…
Grundy contributed with 25 touches, 8 marks, 49 hit outs and 2.1.
    Seb Ross (106): Playing midfield
Ross added 31 possessions and 5 grabs.
Luke Shuey (113): Playing inside midfield
Shuey contributed with 27 touches, 2 marks and 3 tackles.

    Cuddas
Jamie Cripps (114): Starting deep forward
Cripps contributed with 21 disposals, 3 marks, 5 tackles and booted 2.1.
Dayne Zorko (103): Playing pure midfield
Zorko contributed with 28 possessions, 7 marks, 8 tackles and booted 2.0.
Patrick Cripps (122): Inside midfield… manned him closely at the stoppages… Influential after QT…
Bachar Houli (106): Starting on a HBF
Houli added 30 possessions and 10 marks.
Tom Hawkins (101): Hip knock in Q2… 4.0 from 12 disposals and 5 marks with 2 tackles. Up forward.

Match report from Pakenham v Gisborne

It was a fairly exciting round 8 match up at Pakenham, with the in form hot Grenades coming to town and showing the home team a clean set off heels running away with a good victory
    Gisborne 1327 defeat Pakenham 1193
Some really good signs for Pakenham with some good scores being posted the last month, the form continued this week with the fans happy we gave the grenades something to think about in this match with Sinclair 115, Gaff 109, Bellchambers 107 and Sidebum 100 being the leaders.
All and all the real stars of the day the Gisborne outfit just were to good with Kelly 162, Harmes 119, Neale 114, Lambert 112, Ellis-Yolmen 107 and Laird 100 dominating.
A very polished performance across all lines from Gisborne. Very impressive.

Big tap: Bellchambers 107 defeats Witts 67

    Bog. 3. Kelly
    2. Harmes
    1. Sinclair

    Bulls Gropers Match Report

The Bulls were outsiders according to the bookies as the Gropers came to town, coming off a season low of 1100 points whilst the Gropers on the back of 1332 points the week before had continued their red hot form winning 5 out of the last 6 games.

This game was in the balance early and like any good boxing contest both teams were feeling each other out in what was expected to be a long bout decided on points.

However after initial throws it was the Bulls who emerged as being the likely winners as Salem (122) and the returning Weller (106) were superb off half back thwarting the Gropers midfield who on the day had the best of the clearances. Fyfe (133), Duncan (124), Hurley (105) & Crouch (99) all tried valiantly however didn't get much in the way of support from their remaining team mates. For the Bulls Rockliff (122) lead the way in the middle whilst McCluggage (94) continued his breakout year. McEvoy (102) just keeps getting the job done and this week it was Ryder (81) under the pump. Ultimately it was Bulls forward line which has often misfired this year which decided this contest with big Lobb (128) dominating and Adel Lynch (111) continuing to be an astute trade for the Bulls.

The Gropers played funny buggars at the selection table trying to sneak Selwood onto the bench however his notable admission saw Roughead come an as the late inclusion. 9 scores under 80 summed up the day for the Gropers too much was left to too few as the Gropers went down 1366 to 1203. The H2H now sits at Gropers 4 Bulls 3.

Next week the Gropers return home to take on Ararat in another title bout. For the Bulls after 2 weeks at home they hit the road to take on Hughenden and despite the respective ladder positions of these 2 sides the 2 teams have played some corkers of late with games decided by a meager 2 & 3 points.

    3 - Fyfe
    2 - Lobb
    1 - Duncan

    Big Tap - McEvoy

King Island Monarchs 1045 defeated Christmas Island Smugglers 672

The Smugglers faithful were “treated” to the 18th and 17th lowest scores in an absolute shit-show of a game at Flying Fish Cove Park.

For the third time this season the Smugglers posted their lowest ever score as they continue their homage to the St Kilda team of the early 1900s. This one was at least predictable, with only 11 players being named, but seeing the belting unfolding before their eyes Marley Williams and Isaac Smith decided to stay tucked up in bed, meaning only 9 Smugglers faced 15 Monarchs (in fairness 14.5 with an OOP Thurlow in the ruck). Frustratingly this one was winnable, as the Smugglers averaged more per player than their opponents.

The numerical advantage predictably lead to domination in the centre, with the Monarchs mids running riot. Macrae led the way with a BOG 135SC, and was ably supported by Swallow’s 35 possies and 116 SC.

Kreuzer (22 hitouts and 5 clearances) and Heppell (30 possies, 115 SC) put up some resistance for the home team, but the midfield battle was won by 195 points by the visitors.

Both teams were struggling to kick a winning score, with Boak’s 79 the highest forward score from either side. 23 to Betts and 24 to Ratugolea summed up the debacle that was this encounter.

The win sees the Monarchs stay in touch with 8, sitting in 11th, while the Smugglers fell to 15th. Next week King Island and Groote will be playing off for the FU’s Island championship, both having beaten Christmas Island.

Meanwhile 11 or 12, maybe 13 Smugglers will head to Coolgardie, as they look to bounce back (ha!) against the Prospectors.

    BAFFU

    3 – Macrae, 135 (KIM)

    2 – Henderson, 120 (KIM)

    1 – Swallow, 116 (KIM)

    Big Tap
