Early word is that @insider ’s Armadillos (1461/15/97) have recorded a 53 point win over the home town Sandgropers (1408/15/94). In what was a high quality pulsating match the visitors have maintained their perfect record over Southern Cross.

    Well done mate.

The visiting Crocs made a valiant comeback with the wind behind them but still fell short against the Blowflys at the Terrordome.

That makes it 5 on the trot for the mighty Flys!

With near enough to cyclone winds and rains hitting the Eylandt and scoreboard still out of action from the last home game, communication of match status was a little harder than normal.

Amazingly the home team got up, the Cuda's finish on 1,182 defeating the Monarchs @Tylo on 1,140
    Match report to come.

Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,182 defeated the King Island Monarchs 1,140

After a great win on the road last week to against a napping Vikings the Cuda’s were trying to keep that winning feeling going as they haven’t won at home this year while the Monarchs got over a depleted Smugglers team.

The home team’s confidence took a dent with Stanley being a late out for an adductor issue and no one was putting their hand up to tap against Hickey. Hickey didn’t have it all his way as he gave away plenty of free kicks and then rolled his right ankle in the second quarter that limited his output.

The home sides defense in Weitering, who had the big job on Himmelberg who had 3 goals by the first quarter, Guthrie ran through the middle, Houli was very solid with 35 possessions and 9 marks and kept Fisher quite with only 1 goal, while Lloyd the gun tore up the ground and possessions even slotting through a goal for good measure. The Monarchs Walker bagged 3 goals as well as being aided by of a couple revenge frees and Boak playing like a star had 36 possessions for the day.

The rotations off the bench for both sides worked well with the home sides Berry playing up forward and Naughton kicking 1 but only having 10 touches. The visitors capitalized on Henderson who ran the wing like a mad man with 30 touches while Deboer masterfully locked down Corn Boy Cripps in what was considered a genius move.

The center square was a school of hard knocks, Corn Boy Cripps had a Deboer in his back pocket and couldn’t do a thing, Phillips played mostly on the wing turning his opponent Thurlow in circles the Bont was very quiet in the first quarter as he tried shaking the Murphy shadow and somewhere in a blurr Murphy went down hard, so hard he was shipped off to the hospital, ouch! Swallow gave up plenty of frees and looked out of sorts. The duel of the outside mid Zorko verses Macrae was a sight, these guns both racking up a heap of possessions in the high velocity game.

With near enough to cyclone winds and rains hitting the Eylandt and scoreboard still out of action from the last home game, communication of match status was a little harder than normal but in the end the home side clung onto their first win at home to the relief to the mayor as they are still in the repair process since the last home game which seen the Eylandt on fire and locked down.

What a classic match it was in Coolgardie between two teams at the peak of their powers...

...who am I kidding? It was a shit-show of the highest order. The two lowest scores of the round for (quite possibly) the two most depleted teams in the league. It was a disaster for the home side, and a dour affair for the visiting Christmas Island Budgie Smugglers @DamoH

The only positive to come from the match, was this Christmas Island themed post I saw on Instagram by AFLmemes
    upload_2019-5-21_8-29-22.png

Back to the game, and while only 14 Prospectors turned up (it could have been 15, but R Clarke decided to front up for the local amateur side, unannounced!), only ten Islanders managed the trip down, as it appears most took the shorter flight to Bali instead.
While this did result in a rather simple win for the locals, 1021 to 897 on the final scoreboard, the 124 point margin shows nothing of the intensity that was brought to the game.

It all started in the first ninth of the match, when the Budgies came flying out of the gates, knowing that they were going to be a few men short, they still decided to give it their all. Local defender L Duggan was spooked into 52 points, while visitors S Hurn, J Hunt, and JJ Kennedy piled on 338 points, to give their team a huge lead and put serious doubt into the minds of Prospector players and fans alike! It was a gold rush, but not the gold rush everyone came to see!
The onslaught never let up, as perfectly illustrated by C Brown losing 90 points in the space of a week (126 last week, 36 this week) in the face of the Smuggler pressure. Then when everyone finally started to relax, thinking the game was won, D Martin decided to finally do something this year, and hammered out a 128 in the second-last stanza, to give the visitors one last sniff of victory!

In the end, weight of numbers was just too strong. The players that turned up for the Islanders did very well, averaging 89.7 points each, but its a 15-man game, so the team average crashed to just 59.8 which was never going to be enough. On the flip side, the Gold-diggers 14-man team averaged 72.9 points per player, which dropped to 68.1 points in a 15-player side. The only one of these that is really acceptable is the Smugglers raw average per player, which gives the visitors some hope that not all is lost in 2019.

Defensively, Christmas Island took home the choccies, by one measly point, 319-318.
Through the midfield it was again the Budgies, winning by 18 points, 295-277.
The rucks was a small win to the locals, 16 points, 88-72.
Up front the goals came easier for Coolgardie, with a 42 point win, 253-211.
Finally there was only one man on the bench, and he was a Prospector, with an 85-0 win.

    The Votes:
    3 - S Hurn, Christmas Island, 161
    2 - D Martin, Christmas Island, 128
    1 - J Macmillan, Coolgardie, 112

    Giant Tap:
S Martin, Coolgardie, defeated M Kreuzer, Christmas Island, by 16 points, 88 to 72.

Next week sees both teams a shoe-in for a win, with Christmas Island heading back home to take on the doubly-difficult central Queenslanders, the Hughenden Prairie Dogs. Meanwhile Coolgardie are on the road to the biggest losers in the league, the Ararat Armadillos. Good luck to all four teams.

Full Time at Eden Sporting Complex and the boys have finally taken a win 1115 to Serengeti's 1074
For the Buffalos it was a tale of 2 halves, the top half of the team was there and did well. The midfield definitely winning with SPP getting the minimum of 80 and the rest all topping the 100. But they came up against a solid Whalers defence with Tarrant completely checking former teammate Ben Brown. Tom Scully took the ruck spot in name but Trengove was doing the work, coming off the bench to top-score for Eden with 113. Meanwhile the visiting Buffalos forgot to bring a ruckman so the bench was taking turns at it. But Longer was on the team sheet so it counts.
For the Whalers, next week is a chance to continue a rebuild against an out-of-form Cow Bay while the Buffalos continue their southern Australia tour with a bus trip to Pearcedale.
    Votes: Kelly 3, Merrett 2, Danger 1
Giant Tap: Scully 34 def Longer 0

Blanchetown Bunyips 1159 def Pakenham Parasites 1036

It was a battle of the cellar dwellers with both sides having a 2019 to forget.

Nothing too much to get excited about with this match, in the middle Steele Sidebottom led from the front highscoring with a handy 120 for the visitors, Gaff chipped in with 110 but that was about it from the visitors. The 2019 surprise packet so far has Rowan Marshall up forward and he just keeps getting the job done. Although not hitting his season average of 99, a handy 90 up forward is always welcome!

But it was the homeside defenders Rozee (116) and Saad (112) who stopped any onslaught from the visitors. Charlie Cameron up forward continues his yo-yo year with a handy 117 after scoring 38 the week before. ROB continues to get the job done in the ruck division edging out Bellchambers 88-73.

    BOG - Sidebottom - 3
    Cameron - 2
    Rozee - 1

Next week the Bunyips are off to Korumburra whilst the Parasites are hosting the Vikings.

@ddsaints sorry for the delay mate.

    NV 1479 defeated GG 1257

There is only one constant this season and that is man mountain Grundy, his performances are keeping us in the game and on most occasions getting us the win. On the flip side it was a welcome return from injury Lids and Newman out shone their averages, Greene started in the midfield a master stroke by the coach as he racked up possessions. Finlayson's move to the forward line has finally payed dividends as he grows in confidence booting a career high 5 goals. Not even a concussion could stop Heeney , while Shuey's 10 tackles set the tone of game.

The visitors lead by brownlow medal favorite Neale, Fiorini demanding to be put in guts from the start and Harmes move to a permanent midfield role keep the visitors in the game. With the match in the balance and only 10 minutes to go the pin was about to be pulled, but an inexperienced Grenades were over run by a rampant Vikings outfit wanting blood.

    NV Best
Toby Greene (104): Started in midfield then mostly at half forward
Greene contributed with 34 disposals, 8 grabs and 0.1.
Brett Deledio (106): Starting on a HFF
Deledio contributed with 19 touches, 3 grabs, 5 tackles and 3.1.
    Jeremy Finlayson (129): Starting forward,
Finlayson contributed with 12 touches, 3 marks, 3 tackles and booted 5.1.
Nic Newman (116): Coming off a HBF
Newman contributed with 29 possessions, 6 marks and 3 tackles.
Isaac Heeney (110): Assessed for concussion after a head clash late Q3 but cleared… 1.1 from 19 possessions and 6 marks plus 5 tackles… umps paid him 3FF. Rotating between midfield and half forward.
    Brodie Grundy (137): First ruck…
Grundy contributed with 24 possessions, 4 grabs, 6 tackles and 49 hit outs.
Luke Shuey (106): Playing inside midfield
Shuey contributed with 19 touches, 10 tackles and booted 2.0.

    GG Best
Lachie Neale (151): Playing inside midfield
Neale contributed with 39 possessions, 2 marks and 6 tackles.
James Harmes (116): Starting in midfield
Harmes contributed with 30 disposals, 6 tackles and kicked 0.1.
    Brayden Fiorini (124): First goal… 38 possessions with 29 by foot… also 4 marks and 4 tackles… and booted 1.1. Playing midfield.

Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,274 def Staghorn Flat Bulls 1,248

Hughenden finally put it all together with its best performance of the season to defeat the visiting Bulls.

Hughenden’s performance often had the Bulls seeing double with solid performances from the midfield, Yeo (136), Shiel (130), Oliver (115) with DBJ (101) down back holding the defence together and Membrey (109) the outstanding performer up front.

The Bulls situation was not helped with McEvoy (39) suffering an injury early in the contest which allowed a more even rucking duel. The Bulls midfield tried all day with Rockliff (103) and Zaharakis (114) leading the way.

It was Whitfield (170) on his return game from injury that nearly got the Bulls home but in the end it wasn’t enough.

Hughenden led all day and was able to hold off a fast finishing Bulls outfit to avoid another choke reference.

    BAFFU Awards

    3 Whitfield (170) - SFB
    2 Yeo (136) - HPD
    1 Shiel (130) - HPD

At 3/9th's time it's the Blowflys in front at the Terrordome over the visiting Bunyips.

    KB 423 / 4 / 106
    BBU 398 / 5 / 80

Goldstein has been dominating in the ruck early and Dunkley is everywhere for the home side. Houston is quietly having a great season for the Yips, while Polec has been very handy.

Down in Gisborne, the Grenades are trying to atone for a disappointing loss last week and have come out all guns blazing, reaching 711/7/101.6. If anyone wants a slurpee, just ask! However, the Sandgropers have likewise piled on a huge score with 1102/13/84.8, and with Fyfe and Mumford still to come it's a case of catch me if you can. Can the Grenades catch them?

At 6/9th's time it's still the Blowflys holding court at the Terrordome over the Bunyips.

Injuries to KB players JPK and Ainsworth, along with some poor defensive efforts, have left the door open for the Yips to make a late run in this one. Jake Kelly and Nick Holman are having big games for the visitors.

    KB 1026 / 11 / 93
    BBU 772 / 9 / 86

    Still to come -
KB - Mundy, Walters, E. Phillips, Bewley
BBU - Steele, S. Walsh, Fritsch, C. Cameron, J. Silvagni, Marchbank
