Know the feeling.....Sinclair (144) on the bench, could have him play OOP in the forwards and he still would have scored 56 more than Lloyd. :(

Unbelievable @tyze1 with Mad Jack a dud & Zurhaar's points on the bench I thought I was sunk for sure, thanks to the Cuda's defence especially Lloydy, a lucky win.

The Southern Cross Sandgropers (1320/15/88) have taken the points against @DamoH ‘s Christmas Island Smugglers (1157/15/77). It was a match won off feats of individual brilliance, with the home side scoring 5 tonnes to the visitor’s 2.

Apologies to Mr @choppers for the lack of score updates this weekend. With 2 assignments due this week and an exam Thursday, this coach was distracted in the coaches box and wasn't even paying attention to the ground.

Scores have been compiled and it looks like it was a ripper of a contest.

Final scores: Cow Bay 1178 def Banchang 1172

Unfortunately, with Sinclair as ruck emergency for the Barcrawlers, his 144 points would've added 27 points to the away team's score and flipped the result.

The homeside was led by young Zak Jones (127), Bolton (104) and ex-Barcrawler SPS (103). McGrath (98) and Worpel (91) didn't let themselves down in the middle, Wilkie (96) helped rebound out of the defensive 50, and Bolton was the lone star up front. Hang your heads in shame Josh Bruce (39), DeGoey (67) and Jack Martin (71). The forward coach's high expectations of you clearly put too much pressure on your shoulders this week. It was nice to see Ah Chee (83) get a run, albeit his mid only status is a frustration for the home team.

Banchang was led strongly by Taylor Adams (131) in a BOG performance in the middle. Ex Croc Lycett (117) won the Big Tap honours but couldn't drag the away side over the line. I'm sure the security guards at the ground would've turned a blind eye to any missiles being thrown at Scott's head had his performance helped seal a win. Higgins (117) also performed strongly. He's obviously taken the Brent Harvey elixir and shows no signs of slowing down in his old age....if he's old that would make me as old as Methuselah. Other notable performances came from Robinson (106), Greenwood (95), Lyons (92) and Langdon (90). However, the Worst on Ground performance (no, I'm not typing out the acronym) goes to Sam Lloyd's 16 point effort. Congrats Sam, you get to take home a packet of fake dog poo for your pathetic effort.

    Big Tap
    Lycett (117) def Ceglar (71)

    BAFFU
    3
    Adams, 131, Banchang
    2 Jones, 127, Cow Bay
    0.5 Higgins, 117, Banchang
    0.5 Lycett, 117, Banchang

Next week Cow Bay stays put to celebrate, then hosts Nuytsland. Banchang take a corona-free flight home to host Coolgardie.

Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,103 defeat Eden Whalers 1,079

In a boil over Hughenden have overcome a 444 point deficit to take the win by a mere 24 points over the Whalers.

After the extended break Eden had come to play and with Soldo (108) in complete control of the ruck early with Pendlebury (115), Crisp (108) and Curnow (98) running freely and scoring at will but Hughenden battled back into the game in the second half and with only half a ruck in Atkins (34) gradually pulled back the margin through the creative efforts of Oliver (127), Duursma (109), Yeo (110) and Shiel (96) who were unstoppable through the middle.

Unfortunately the remaining players from both teams fell away from there with a few players from both sides wondering if they will be getting a game next week, Hughenden’s worst were Shiels (20), AMT (33) and Logue (47) with the Whalers best non-contributors being Jones (31), Zaharakis (28) and McStay (42).

Hughenden’s best start to a season sees them sitting 6th on the ladder and facing a big challenge on the road to defeat the Gropers while the Whalers needing a win to get their season back on track return home to take on the winless Grenades.

    Big Tap
    Soldo (108) def Atkins (34)

    BAFFU Awards
    3 Oliver, HPD (127)
    2 Pendlebury, EW (115)
    1 Yeo, HPD (110)

A heart stopper at Mill Park has seen Jake Lloyd & the much maligned Rhys Stanley carry the Cudas over the line against the home Bulls outfit by just 4 points 1254 - 1250. @YAD69

In a game that could have gone any 1 of 3 ways it was the Cudas who had their noses in front when the final siren sounded. Looking back both teams had opportunities to ice the game, Ryan with 0.3 was a culprit whilst it Lloyd with a snap in the pocket that put the home team to the sword.

The Bulls fall to 0-2 for the first time since 2015 whilst the Cudas just outside the 4 at 2-0 on points scored. The Bulls sit 4th on points scored after 2 weeks however it counts for nothing as they sit 13th and in a different looking FU this year this weeks clash against Blanchetown is a must win clash. The Cudas return home and will start odds on favourites against the Panthers.

    Votes -
    3 J Lloyd (GEB)
    2 R Stanley (GEB)
    1 P Cripps (GEB)

Big Tap - R Stanley (GEB)

For the first time in nearly a year, the Coolgardie PR manager and part-time ground announcer, gets to put in a match report, and being that he's a couple of days late, it looks like he deserves to be sacked.

Out in the Goldfields, where forced isolation is just a way of life, it was the home side Prospectors getting the job done over last seasons Premiers, the Gisborne Grenades @Tomster
    Coolgardie 1,247 / 83.1 to Gisborne 1,205 / 80.3

Across the defensive lines it was a solid performance by the locals, ranging from J Short on 78 all the way up to H Clark on 105. Even A Aliir on 83 wasn't good enough to squeeze his way into the side.
The visitors meanwhile were a whole lot of average, with J PIttard's 80 the best, N Wilson not even bothering to make the road trip (something about an enforced 14-day holiday turned him off), and having to call on the old "Whiskas" of the team, with the Gisborne Liam Jones' coming off the bench for a lack-lustre 62 points.
    Coolgardie won 374 to 278.

Through the guts and it was all the L Neale show. The Gisborne superstar monstered his way to 171 points, and was ably supported by J Billings on 133 and T Kelly on 105. J Harmes was seen just admiring the brilliance of his teammates, as he blundered his way to 61 points.
The locals weren't exactly passengers, with stand-in mid B Parfitt filling the shoes of some missing stars (something about a pain in the neck, and being too open to interviews), with 114 points of his own. T Dumont also topped the ton with 103, while T Miller was serviceable on 98 points. R Clarke couldn't be bothered playing, preferring to try his luck in the scratchies (its a bold move, lets see if it works for him), so a one-armed and one-legged J Aish was called upon to fill in the void.
    Gisborne won 470 to 362.

The rucks was a terrible display of nothingness, with local big man S Martin doing his knee early on and hobbling his way around for the rest of the match to only score 38 points. Visiting J Witts was left alone, but couldn't capitalise, only managing to score an average 77 points of his own. The less said here the better....

Moving forward and it was a tale of whatever was left for the locals, with a slightly above-average performance all that could be mustered up, with C Brown, N Hind, O McInerney, and M Gibbons scoring between 74 and 90 points each.
For the visitors it was another one man show, with J Gresham getting on the end of every forward thrust from his captain, scoring 120 points off his own boot. His forward-line teammates were however seen discussing what they'd been up to over the past couple of months, and forgetting that the real stuff had restarted again, with W Hoskin-Elliott, S Gray, and K Lambert only managing between 37 and 58 points each, for a combined 140 (or just a fraction more than their switched-on teammate).
    Coolgardie won 332 to 260.

Off the pine was J Macmillan and L Duggan for the locals, scoring a combined 141 points, against B Fiorini and P Seedsman for the visitors, scoring a combined 120 points, showing that really there was nothing to get excited about here.

Its been a horror start to 2020 for the reigning premiers, who see themselves at 0-2 and already looking squarely down the barrel. Can they turn it around next week as they "turn Japanese" and go whale hunting in Eden.
The Prospectors are a respectable 1-1 but with a terrible points for look to be nothing more than also-rans for yet another season. Next week its the long, long road trip (its already started actually) as they head to tropical Thailand for some barcrawling with the LadyBoys of Banchang. Good luck to three of those four teams :p

Progress score from the Rd3 clash between Banchang and Coolgardie at The Stadium. @JPK
The visiting Prospectors have jumped out of the blocks at a rate of knots and lead the home team by 485 points at the 1st change.
Led by midfielder O'Meara (142) and ably supported down back by the 3 Musketeers , Sicily(128) Short(126) and Astbury(89) who combined for 343 pts, they have left the Barcrawlers with a mountain to climb, if they don't want to start their season 0-3.
Coolgardie 4/485 lead Banchang yet to score.

It's the Blowflys out to an early lead at the Terrordome, thanks to the quality intercepting and rebounding work of Nick Vlastuin (105). Meanwhile, a new look Jack Ross impressed in the 2's and has put his hand firmly up in the air should a spot open up.

The visiting Gropers are leading at the Dino Dome and are already flexing their muscle. However the PDogs have a reputation already this season to come home with a wet sail. Go the PDgs:-

A wet and soggy Mill Park sees the Bulls well in front of the Bunyips as we approach half time thanks to McCluggage and Maynard. Still plenty to play out. @martyg

At 3/4 time it's the Blowflys dominating at the Terrordome over the visiting Buffaloes. @wrightbrendan

For Serengeti the standouts have been the young, mulleted Bailey Smith (101) fighting hard and Jamie Elliot (95) battling surprisingly well in the ruck versus this seasons #1 in the Giant Tap at this stage, Goldstein (151).

Dunkley (128) and JPK (126) have been dominating around the ball for Korumburra while Keath (106) has been resolute down back, shutting down the Buff's spearhead Jeremy Cameron.

In the final washup at The Stadium, Coolgardie are runaway winners, defeating The Barcrawlers 1281 to 1097 (or 1202) depending on a final decision re Melb/Ess players. (outs/averages)
The battle of the Big Men in the Ruck was won by Banchang with Lycett (156) outlasting The Big O (132)
All the other battles were won convincingly by the lads from Coolgardie who had too much firepower down back with Sicily(128) and Short(126) leading the way but it was in the midfield where they really dominated with O'Meara Miller and Wines all tonning up with scores of 142 126 and 107 respectively.
    BOG:
    3: Lycett BB 156
    2: O'Meara CP 142
    1: McInerny CP 132

Banchang play host to the Eden Whalers next round while Coolgardie continue their overseas travel with a trip to Africa to take on Serengeti.

Southern Cross Sandgropers 1,445 defeated Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,122

The Sandgropers completed a comprehensive demolition of Hughenden reminding them they have a long way to go before they could consider themselves a realistic finals contender.

The Sandgropers were out of the blocks early with plenty of ball control through Jacobs (95) in the ruck with the plenty to prove Stingray Smith (37) no match, with the Groper midfield taking full advantage with Fyfe (166), Duncan (123) and Crouch (101).
Pressure kicking into Hughenden’s forward line allowed Docherty (122) and ex PDog Crozier (107) to take control and rebound quickly. Hughenden’s backline tried hard but apart from Sheppard (99) the Groper forwards had an easy day with Ebert (116) and Smith (105) kicking goals at will. There were some positives for Hughenden with the young guns starting to find the ball however it is the inconsistency which is frustrating the coach and fans.

The Sandgropers remain unbeaten and appear destined for another finals campaign, Hughenden will have to lick their wounds and rebound next week for their tilt to make the 8.

    BAFFU Awards
    3 Fyfe (SCS) 166
    2 Shiel (HPD) 130
    1 Duncan (SCS) 123

BigTap – Jacobs (SCS) 95 over Smith (37)
