In honour of this round's theme, a number of Gariwerd players have decided to follow their teammate Bachar Houli's lead and stay home with their partners this weekend instead of travel to Birdsville.
All of Bachar Houli, Touk Miller, Mitch Wallis, Alex Sexton and Pearce Hanley have decided to stay home and pamper their significant other, and its unfortunately left the team pretty light on for the game.

The Nuffers make 3 changes for Round 8 with Andrew McPherson to debut and Brad Ebert and Luke Brown returning to the starting 15.

Making way are Charlie Dixon who moved north to join the Warriors, the delisted Jaryn Geary and Mason Redman who is named as an emergency. The 3 other emergencies this week are the badly out of form Hill, Clurey and new arrival Brent Daniels.

We take on the Cows @graeme on their home patch looking to get off a fast start and see if we can drag a superior side down to our level.

@TheTassieHawk - no need to drag us down, we have found a way to do it without your help! Add in Brad Crouch injured early and Jeremy McGovern a late out and you have the perfect recipe for a win in round 8; especially with Paton, Cunningham and Dumont performing very well. Dems da breaks.

Whitsunday Warriors 1,021/14 with ruckman Rory Lobb to play and needing to score 268 to overtake
    Cradle Mountain 1,288/15

The fourth placed Whitsunday Warriors hosted the seventh placed Cradle Mountain Devils in Round 7 in a game that featured two midfielders on the leaderboard of the Les W Medal, the Devils Jack Steele who entered the round in fourth place with 18 votes and the Warriors Travis Boak who was in equal seventh place on 14 votes. In a run-with role Steele was able to restrict Boak to 54 points whilst scoring 114 points himself to feature in the minor votes.

In terms of the three four position lines very little separated the two sides with the Whitsundays 12 players across defense, midfield and forward lines combining for 938 points, 27 less than Cradle Mountain. The pivotal line proved to be the interchange with the Warriors two players Ben Ainsworth and James Harmes only combining for 83 points whilst the Devils bench scored 250 points led by Rowan Marshall with 160.

Late in the game the Warriors have scored 1,021 from 14 players with Rory Lobb still to take the field. Three Warriors have scored triple figures – midfielder Jared Polec (136), key forward Josh Kennedy (131) kicked a bag of seven goals in front of his adoring home crowd and midfielder Ollie Wines (100).

Cradle Mountain had some injury issues with their captain Scott Pendlebury being a very, very very late withdrawal just before the opening bounce due to a quad strain and was replaced in the side by Jack Redden. Another experienced campaigner in defender Daniel Rich injured his hamstring during the game.

The Devils are back in the club rooms having scored 1,288, their fourth consecutive score above 1,250. Four CMD players reached triple figures with Marshall and Steele being joined in this category by acting captain Dayne Zorko (106) and defender Daniel Talia (102), another four Devils registered scores in the 90’s.

Congrats to the Nuffers for a fine win (1229 - 1041 by my unreliable calculations) even with Darcy all Tuckered out. Shows how quickly a side can become irrelevant when injuries bite,

Anyways, enough of the negatives and a very short period to dwell on it before we are at it again.

Didn't follow the maths of our game vs Mt.Beauty this week but after seeing Gawn, Petracca and Viney all go well against the Lions and knowing MTB went 1500+ last week, I thought we would find ourselves 6-2. Counting our lucky stars that bamas forwards had an off week and Toby Greene went XXL for my mob. Unlucky @bama but your side is definitely a major threat. The break out of Petracca is huge.

Enjoying the importance of every home and away game this year. The next few weeks will be very interesting!

Spelunkers post a season high 1267 and still get smashed by over 200 points... way too good for us @snoz... although the cavemen are starting to play something resembling football
