Congratulations @Lenny120 on winning the battle of the marsupials with your Wagga Wagga Wombats scoring 1,333 points in Round 4 to record a fightback 56 point victory against the Cradle Mountain Devils.

Three Wombats registered tons today – defender Brodie Smith 121, midfielder Ed Langdon 104 and forward Jarman Impey 112.

The only Devil to register a ton today was defender Jake Lever 104.

There was a common denominator with Cradle Mountain's best players this weekend as the 100’s registered by the Devils against the Wombats were from the five players recruited with top 20 PSD picks from 2015 to 2018 being:

2015 PSD pick 13 Jack Steele 150 points vs the Wombats
    2015 PSD pick 19 Jake Lever 104
    2016 PSD pick 8 Jacob Hopper 111
2017 PSD pick 8 Tim English 138 and
    2018 PSD pick 14 Aaron Naughton 110

Naughton is on track to average 75+ for the first time in 2021 which is his fourth AFL season. Steele, Lever, Hopper and English all averaged 75+ Supercoach points per game in a season for the first time in their third AFL season.

Cradle Mountain have had a total of nine PSD picks in the top 20 with the other players in this category being:

2013 PSD pick 10 Nick Vlastuin
2014 PSD pick 7 Tom Boyd
2020 PSD pick 17 Jack Mahony
2021 PSD pick 16 Finlay Macrae

Tom Boyd had a highest season average of 67 in his fifth AFL season in 2018 and he retired in May 2019.

Nick Vlastuin was the quickest Cradle Mountain Devil PSD top 20 pick to average 75 in a season, achieving this in his debut 2013 season, however his first season averaging 80+ was season 6 in 2018.

Mahony and Macrae are part of the CMD development squad and are unlikely to play in the ORFFA during 2021 whilst Vlastuin is recovering from a knee injury and is likely to be available mid-season.

It is strange the way things play out as when I recruited Tom Boyd the Devils had a weak forward line and he was the white hope to strengthen it long term. Whilst this didn't eventuate Boyd became a forward/ruck and the ability to handcuff him and another Bulldogs ruck in Jordan Roughead played a major role in recruiting Tim English which has proven to be a very good decision. Another Western Bulldog in Aaron Naughton looks like he is going to become a member of the Devils best 15 this season as a young key forward after being recruited as a defender. Tim English looks likely to gain forward eligibility in 2022 which could result in two Bulldogs key forwards being in the CMD forward line.
