    Round 5 – AFL Round 5
    Date: Thursday 15th April 2021
    THEME - Muso Round

Each year the ORFFA's Muso Round sees the league celebrate the great Australian and New Zealand musical types that fill our ears with delights from Down Under, or lovely tunes from the Land of the Long White Cloud.

This week, home teams get to nominate a chosen muso to play during half time of their ORFFA fixture, while away teams get to nominate the muso to supply after-match entertainment ... not too loudly though, it is getting late and the kiddies need to get to bed so they can get some sleep.

Waikikamoocow Incorrigibles V Wagga Wagga Wombats
Nowhere Else Wanderers V Foul Bay Chickens
Cradle Mountain Devils v Charlies Opening Spelunkers
    Birdsville Battlers V Whitsunday Warriors
Mount Beauty Uglies v Iron Knob Codpieces
Venus Bay Vultures V Marble Bar Misfits
Larrikin Lagoon Lefties v Wineglass Bay Packers
Lovely Banks Lilacs V Gundagai Grasshoppers
    Gariwerd Cockatoos v Nareewillock Nuffers

The Misfits have noone playing tonight.

Our halftime entertainment will come from John Williamson, destoying ears and minds with "True Blue".
Misfits players and staff have been issued with earplugs, we are expecting the Vultures to forfiet after halftime, unless the intel leaks

Nice and mellow, since we are the away team. Music to sooth a team of cows.

Many years ago (2017 MSD) @Lenny120 agreed on a trade which on reflection was pretty fair. He got Tom Barrass and pick #31 (?), I got Dion Prestia. The cows got a premiership and I reckon the Wombats will go close this year. Anyways no Dion this week so Tom - please go easy on us.

Here's the closing number from the Thursday night act at the Bulls Hit Tav - dedicated to all ORFFANs and chris and Heavy. It's only round 5 so

@Lenny120 - just to let you know you have Cam Rayner as a playing I/C player when I think he's under an injury cloud. Surely you would be much happier if you'd started Pickett as a player rather than an E. Just trying to be helpful.

Edit: Didn't see it before but isn't Caldwell, listed as a playing F with Jake Aarts as an E, also injured?

Tonight's offering at the Bulls Hit is Shane MacGowan and various friends. Always been a personal favourite. Here is one song he won't be playing:

I like to give my players right up until the bounce to prove their fitness.

Cheers for letting me know mate - saw it in time to make the adjustment. Still in the loophole mindset. Just went back through the results and only used it on one occasion this year - round 1 for an Aarts 67 and didn't effect the result, so no damage done. :thumbsu:

With another long term injury this week, the Battlers mood will be adequately presented by the Tenants:

Almost final team for this week
    DEFENDERS
Jake Lloyd. Lachlan Sholl, Zachary Williams, Nick Haynes -
    MIDFIELDERS
David Mundy, Josh Kelly, Tim Taranto, Callan Ward - Lachlan Weller
    RUCKS
    Nic Naitanui
    FORWARDS
Tom McCartin, Logan McDonald, James Rowe, Will Hayward - Jayden Laverde
    INTERCHANGE
Tom HICKEY, Matthew Flynn - Devon Smith

Still hopeful Leon will find a brain and play Flynn over Mummy in a late change, but exposed evidence says fuckall chance of that happening..
Sloane, Whitfield & Daniel missing, but our real limiter is an absolute shit (developing?) foward line.

    Thanks @Bandit

The Spelunkers had the best three players on the ground who all ranked in the top 23 for ORFFA player scores in Round 5. Usual suspects Marcus Bontempelli (133) and Zac Merrett (130) were second and third best afield respectively, Spelunkers defender Liam Duggan who was averaging 73 points per game before the Tassie Tussle doubled his output to score 146 points in a best afield performance. Veteran midfielder Jack Redden led the Devils with 128 and was one of nine CMD players to score 80+, the Spelunkers had five tons but only one other player scored 80+.

The top five Spelunkers for the game were phenomenal, combining for 631 points which was 48 than the top five ranked Devils, however the variance in the level of performance between the Spelunkers stars and their support cast which Bandit has mentioned previously came to the fore. The remaining 10 Charlies Opening players scored 641 points, only 10 more points than their top five players and a more even team performance from the Devils middle and bottom tier was enough for them to record a 73 point victory at home, 1345 to 1272 from the Spelunkers. COS have improved their score each round, have scored 1240+ in the past three rounds to now rank 9th in terms of points for.

    Round 5 tier breakdown
    Cradle Mountain

    Top 5 583 Average of 116.6
    Middle 5 448 Average of 89.6
    Bottom 5 314 Average of 62.8
    Total 1,345 Average of 89.7

    Charlies Opening

    Top 5 631 Average of 126.2
    Middle 5 375 Average of 75.0
    Bottom 5 266 Average of 53.2
    Total 1,272 Average of 84.7

indeed... this is the price you pay with such a young list, not a player over 25.

We are slowly building... although I think Duggan was a flash in the pan.

List management looking at the likes of Tarryn Thomas, Luke Jackson, Nick Blakey, Trent Rivers and Sam Petrevski-Seton to bump that 60 average to at least 80's in 24 months... all showing flashes of brilliance, but sporadically.
