@martyg at 8/9ths time in Coolgardie and its game over.
With a 151 point lead and two players still out in the middle, the home side can't be trounced, while the visitors have already headed to the sheds for showers and drinks.

    Unlucky, mate.

If Ridley plays out the match, you likely win, and that’s with an OOP ruck in place.

    The Barracuda's finish on 1,366/15 91 defeated the Crocs @fresh on 1,031/15 68.7

Attack starts with the defence and the home side were very solid, having Houli and Weitering coming off the interchange keeping things rolling. The king of kick ins Lloyd was humming and new recruit McGovern played the run and carry role.
The Bont was devastating out of the middle and young Graham cherry picked all day from the big man on campus Stanley.
The magnificent Zorko starred and Tomahawk used his body well.

A couple of late outs for the visitors Clarke and Zak Jones plus Ceglar went walk about.
Witherden was on fire out of defence in his first game this season, McGrath got plenty of the ball through the centre and Bolton had big impacts all around the ground. Missing their ruck was one thing then de Goey got smashed in Q1 and then was benched made it just about impossible for the Croc's to put up much of a fight.

    @choppers NV 1065 def by BB 1266

A rough night on the high seas plugging holes didn't hold sway down at the "Graveyard" as the yo-yo season continued, and a red hot Banchang showed with winners on every line how the game should be played. Lead by Lyons digging the ball from some sublime hitouts by Lycett, everywhere man Reid doing it all, rock in defense Doedee intercepting everything and suprise packet Markov demanding a starting position and not interchange. Barcrawlers showed the heat early, Vikings leaders had no answers with only Duncan and Petracca showing and resistance. Greene 1 goal 7 behinds with disposal efficiency 27%, Williams unknown sub out at 3qt plus coach not bringing in Hibberd and playing an oop typified the day but would have only softened the blow.

Duncan ( 133 ) A reckless smother will be looked at, 27 Disposals
    Petracca ( 108 ) Hard tagged, 23 Disposals and 2 goals

    Tom Doedee ( 101 ) 23 Disposals and 6 marks
Jarryd Lyons ( 128 ) Slow start in Q1 with only 4 touches ended up with 35 Disposals, 21 contested and 7 tackles
    Scott Lycett ( 115 ) 4 Tackles and 28 hitouts
    Sam Reid ( 125 ) 17 Disposals, 15 Hitouts, 11 Contested and 6 Clearances, aided by 7 free kicks
    Oleg Markov ( 106 ) 22 Disposals, 8 marks and 5 tackles

    3.Duncan
    2.Lyons
    1.Reid

    Big Tap Lycett

    Round 5
Southern Cross 1314 def Serengeti 1257

A delayed match report for this round 5 matchup is for good reason after an ongoing investigation had extended into a third day. Investigators have now concluded their research and revealed their findings into the outcome this crucial encounter.

Suspicions were first raised when Sandgroper Tom Phillips (55) entered the playing field with what was thought to be 'poos and wees' on his cheeks but was later found to be brown and gold war paint. This initial investigation did however lead to the first discovery that player Phillips had confused COVID-safe operators into thinking all players named Phillips had already entered the player restricted areas forcing the Buffaloes to play Dyson Heppell (43) in the runck in place of the preferred Andrew Phillips.

Further interviews and study uncovered that the story had not stopped there but in fact had only got more sinister. Upon succesfully entering the restricted area as the only Phillips allowed, the brown and gold stained 'player' went in disguise to the Buffaloes room as the aforementioned Andrew Phillips and succesfully managed to sabotage the pre-game meal of Buffalo star Jordan Ridley (31) to ensure he wouldn't see any action past the second quarter.

Realising that he may not yet have quite done enough, Phillips dropped the covert tactics and jumped on Captain Dangerfield's (75) ankle at the three quarter time huddle putting him out of the closing stages of the contest creating an all-in melee that at the same time provided the spark for his own big-men Brodie Grundy (134) & Shane Mumford (135) who fancy themselves as sideshow wrestlers, to drag his team across the line.

In what should be an unsuprising act from a player with a pedigree tainted with brown and gold history it has been none the less hard to swallow for the Buffaloes as they sought to celebrate their first home game of the year after a month-long road trip to open the season. The club, who have stood firm that the Serengeti walls would never be soured by the presence of such filth, is therefore calling for all players from a similar pedigree to be banned from all future participation in the ORFFU.

Also, Shane Mumford was incredible and continued a career resurgence, Fyfe (125) did Fyfe things, Cumming (79) added to a strong re-debut season with Southern Cross and Joe Daniher (121) showed some promising signs as he continues his re-introduction into the Serengeti side.

    BAFFU votes
    3 Shane Mumford 135 (SCS)
    2 Brodie Grundy 134 (SCS)
    1 Zac Merrett 130 (SB)

Hopefully without Tom Phillips, round 6 sees the Sandropers hosting the Bunyips while the Buffaloes remain in Serengeti to host the Praire Dogs

Round 5 concludes at the Eden Den (Eden for short) and the Whalers have gotten their first home win of the year over an undermanned Smugglers side. While Redden and Edwards did well in a dominant midfield and Pittonet won in the ruck and Lever did well in the backline, the game was won in consistency. And with 2 of the players missing the boat and 3 more being outscored by Pittonet's 30 just weren't enough to win the day.
Meanwhile, McCarthy, Amon and Andrews led the way with 100+ scores
Round 6 sees the Whalers travel to Pakenham to face the evenly matched Parasites while the Smugglers host a Vikings side on the verge of the top 4.
    BAFFU Votes:
    3: McCarthy 134
    2: Redden 128
    1: Edwards 127
Giant Tap: Pittonet 67 def Casboult 30

    Bulls Dillos Match report @insider

In the 8th year of the FU the Bulls have reached a new low, 5 losses on the trot a franchise record surpassing the run of 4 losses from Round 8 - 14 in 2017.
The silver lining are few and far between with injuries and poor form hitting hard, however the 5 losses are all to sides comfortably in the 8 and on points scored for the season the Bulls sit 9th although a leaky defense sees them conceding a whopping 404 more points than any other team thus far.

It a game that was in the balance on Saturday evening the Dillos put on a Sunday clinic with Stewart, Ryan, Brayshaw, Gawn, Ziebell & McDonald all going BANG 859 points between the 6 of them! For the Bulls it was their highest score of the year courteously of an evergreen Mundy, a return to form from Maynard & McCluggage and the continued good form of Sholl and Salem.

Ararat 1560 - apparently this sits high in the FU Hall of Fame
    Staghorn Flat 1272

    3 Gawn AA
    2 Stewart AA
    1 Mundy SFB

Big Tap - Maxy smashed Big Boy

The Dillos return home next week to take on @Mick Blowflies in a top of the table clash. The Bulls welcome Coolgardie in what they hope will present an opportunity open the account in 2021.

The NBN has finally been re-established at the Dino Dome and a very late match report for Round 5 saw the home team defeat the visiting Parasites by 108 points with final scores:-

    Hughenden 1,190 defeating Pakenham 1,082.

It was an intriguing game all day with both teams lacking an established ruckman with Marshall (60) easily outpointing the shorter Berry (16) however the Parasites failed to capitalise, while the mids had even ball access with Hughenden’s Oliver (114) and Ward (89) against Gaff (109) and Blicavs (106) doing it for the Parasites. However it was the injury to the Parasites Cerra (15) which they were unable to cover.

Hughenden’s defence was solid all day with DBJ (119) and Sheppard (99) leading the way holding the Parasites forward line to below average numbers with only Allen (127) able to offer something for the visitors. The key difference was the contribution of Battle (113) from the bench, he was on fire early and set the tone for the home team to come out on top.

A great start to Hughenden’s season sees them on the road to take on the Buffalos to keep their winning continue and Pakenham @ddsaints return home to take on the Whalers in a must win game for both teams to keep their finals hopes alive.

The hometown supporters are thoroughly confused around whether they are seeing their actual beloved Buffaloes midfield running around out in The Crater or whether the heat and humidity is getting to them and the shadowy forms that look something like them are in fact only a mirage.
