It’s the first game for Hughenden to have a real ruck, understandably the buffaloe players are in awe.

Thanks for the update, though as the home team, it should be me. On a road trip at the moment, but made it to Noosa now and actually getting to watch the current match and catch up on the others, so I should be able to provide a timely update & match write up from here.

Post the Hawthorn V Adelaide match:
    Grenades 893/12 (average 74)
    Barracudas 1,338/15 (average 89)

A Darcy Parish led revival and some brown and gold stains threatening to undo the good work of their prairie dog teammates has this one now going down to the wire

    Prairie Dogs 1065/12/89
    Buffaloes 1047/12/87

(may include some non scaled scores)

Full time at the Sandpit and Southern Cross (1296/15/86) have taken out a 124 point win over @martyg ‘s Blanchetown (1172/15/78).

Five tons a piece ensured it was an exciting match, with the home side having four scores over 120 to the visitors two.

Grundy lead all comers with a monster 153 and was ably supported by a rejuvenated Selwood, Fyfe, Docherty and Cumming.

ROB battled manfully for the visitors with Walsh, Hardwick, Holman and Bonar doing their best to keep the match competitive.

A no show from midfielder Dunstan made it tough for the visitors but a poor day from Rotham and an untimely injury to superstar Martin ensured the final margin was closer than the locals liking.

Final result from the Horsham V Groote Eylandt match with the Barracudas taking a comfortable 210 point win. The result was never in doubt with 100's to Bont, Guthrie, Stanley, Hawkins, Lloyd and Zorko before the Saturday evening matches even took place. For Horsham, Seedsman and Laird were solid and Jones and Hughes showed they still have value in the side.

On the injury front, McGovern and Kolodjashnij failed to see out the full match for the Barracudas. For Horsham, Neale and Lambert add to an already lengthy injury list. With rumours both players will be traded at the MSD, it's likely Neale has played his last game for Horsham.

Next round, the Barracudas are at home to Hughenden and Horsham is at home to Staghorn Flat.

Well the wheels have certainly fallen off the Croc bandwagon in 2021, the home side recording a 117 point loss. The coach is now considering Libba's request for a trade given he's not seeing himself playing finals with this outfit anytime soon, a list renovation may be on the cards.

While the Cow Bay mids performed strongly with Libba (139) leading the way, he was very well supported by Hopper (111) and Taranto (102). Wilkie (22) had no idea what to do in the ruck, and it seemed like the defenders had also forgotten how to play with Noble (78) top scoring down back. However, Rankine (101) and Bolton (99) stood up and tried hard to lift their team mates. Problem was most of them had already thrown in the towel.

Nank (129) cruised on through the day with little opposition at centre bounces and tapped it regularly to Parker (94), Ellis (94), Hunter (89) and Simpkin (83). The lack of an opposing ruckman also meant Darcy (120) had a fun day out in Cow Bay. Tomlinson (91) led the defensive unit strongly and the forwards had little trouble during the day scoring goals at will.

    1 Darcy, Pearcedale, 120

The win gives Pearcedale their 3rd win and they move into 10th whereas the Crocs are stuck in 14th place.

Next week Pearcedale travels to Coolgardie while the Crocs visit Ararat.

    @Batfink

The Prairie Dogs arrived at The Crater without much fanfare and had the locals anticipating getting to revel in their sides first home victory of the season. Come the final siren though, the Hughenden boys had ensured that all the locals knew who exactly who they were.

In a high scoring and entertaining affair it was the case of Hughendens up and coming future star defenders that came to the fore and really stood out. Led by Lachie Ash (139) and Callum Mills (136) but more than ably supported by D B-J (111) & IQ (104), the youngsters worked together to defend against being overawed by the tall timber of Serengeti's forward line.

Callum Sinclair (109) outpointed Andrew Phillips (99) in what was a welcome return for both teams having fit ruckmen out on the park and unfortunately the ruck advantage that Hughenden gained meant that Dom Sheed (47) completely turned to water and had supporters mulling a coup against management who spent heavily at the trade table to bring him in.

A very impressive win by the Prairie Dogs in the end running out 11 point victors that kept the momentum in an equally impressive start to the season. When considered against the backdrop of missing players of the quality of Shiel, Rayner and Yeo for majority of the season, things are looking on the up and up, especially if they are able to rid themselves of the brown and gold stains that are currently holding them back. On the other side of the coin, the Serengeti locals are trying to stay positive in what has been a frustrating season so far. A solid score, a fit ruckmen and Darcy Parish (162) running riot were enough for now but if the W's don't start to follow soon, serious questions will need to be asked.

    Bulls Prospectors Match Review @JPK

In the case of another Sunday fadeout the Bulls have dropped to a 6th loss on the trot to kick off 2021. For the second week in a row the Bulls were in a competitive position on Saturday night only to overrun on Sunday.

Much like a game of Under 12s the good players dominated whilst the others players struggled to get a touch. 9 big hundreds with 15 scores under 65! Speaking of under 12s the Bulls coach who doubles up Saturday mornings as coach of the Yackandandah U12s made it 2 from 3 with a win over Thurgoona maintaining a 100% home record for the season with a 12 point victory. This week we make the longest trek of the year to Wahgunyah to tackle the Lions. Errr back to the FU review...

The Prospectors on ball brigade found gold at Mill Park with McInerney, Miller, Omera, Wines & Serong combining for 647 points versus the Bulls contingent of 512 and that readers of the FU match reports was the difference as the Propectors ran out 1253 to 1116 winners.

The Prospectors return home to face Pearcedale in a classis 8 point game for those mid of the table teams. The Bulls make the trek to the wimmera to clash with Horsham in what is a must win clash for the Bulls

Cracking match at the Sandpit, where late in the third quarter @choppers visiting Barcrawlers (985/12/82) hold a slender 12 point lead over the Sandgropers (973/10/97), albeit with two additional scoring players.

Outstanding performances by Grundy, emerging midfielder Drew, and the evergreen Selwood, for the home side coupled with masterclasses from Banchang’s Greenwood and Lyons through the centre of the ground, have wowed the local crowd.

With Docherty, Rotham, Fyfe, Darling & Smith to come for Southern Cross and Langdon, Wright & Cunnington for the visitors, the bookies have the home side as favourites to take the points. For the Barcrawlers to win it’s going to take at least two huge performances from the last three players, unlikely, but not impossible.

    Go Sandgropers!!!
