It’s the stage of the season where most coaches are making their final upgrades.
Some would’ve been able to finish their team a couple of weeks ago, and others might still have a couple of upgrades to go.

Once you’ve made your final upgrade and hence finished your team, post it in here, let us know your cash in hand and how many trades you have for the run home.

It’s been a difficult season for many of us. I know I’ve ended up with a team much weaker than I would’ve liked.

Feel free to also let us know any stories about your season thus far. We haven’t had many threads this year to keep in touch with each other like usual.

I made my final upgrade last night.
I had traded Grundy out during the byes, and had hoped to straight swap Flynn to Grundy around now, but I ended up being $26k short :(

So my final upgrade was Flynn —> Rowan Marshall.

I’ve got only two trades remaining, and I’ve got $144k in the bank. 6 rounds remain.

      My team looks like this:

D: Luke Ryan, Tom Stewart, Jake Lloyd, Jordan Ridley, Steven May, Justin Short (TBianco D/M, KBriggs D/F)
M: Sam Walsh, Tom Mitchell, Jake Kelly, Travis Boak, Andrew Brayshaw, Jye Simpkin, Patrick Cripps, Matt Rowell (JNewcombe, RO’Connor, HSharp M/D)
R: Max Gawn, Rowan Marshall (TFullarton R/F)
F: Jack Ziebell, Dane Zorko, Dustin Martin, Steele Sidebottom, Isaac Heeney, Jordan DeGoey (JMadden F/D, MRosas)

As mentioned in the OP, my team isn’t as strong as I would’ve liked. I’m having the worst season that I can remember. I haven’t ranked so lowly since my first couple seasons playing the game back in the mid 2000s. I had a bit of bad luck but made some bad decisions, and also took some risks which didn’t work out. Hence my trades quickly dwindled, and I didn’t have the cash generation I needed. So I had to compromise a fair bit with my upgrades.

It’s hurt a lot not having the likes of Laird, Macrae, Grundy, Oliver, Bontempeli, & Steele who are all owned by more than 33% of teams and all smashing it!

Here are some premium players I’ve traded out of my team this season! Rowell, Dangerfield (twice), Cripps, Fyfe (twice), Daniel, Dunkley, Grundy, & Duncan! Yep, it’s been a shit-show this season!

I made my last semi-upgrade this round bringing in De Goey. With some injury luck I will make one more with the aim of getting Dunkley or Zorko as my forward line is lacking.

5 Trades left and $140K in the bank. Current rank at start of round 17 is 4,906.

      D: R Laird, C Mills, T Stewart, S May, J Ridley, J Short (C Daniel, S Durham D/M)
      M: J Steele, J Macrae, C Oliver, Z Merret, S Walsh, A Brayshaw, T Boak, S Pendlebury (T Bianco M/D, L Edwards, J Newcombe)
      R: B Grundy, M Gawn (N Reeves)
      F: J Ziebell, A Hall, P Dangerfield, D Martin, J De Goey, I Heeney (C Coleman-Jones, J Ginnivan)

I can switch Laird into the midfield and emergency loophole Pendles and Brayshaw - or have it down back and loophole May and Daniel. It also allows flexibility closer to the end of season in league finals when I can get rid of the switch if I get an injury to upgrade to a proper premium.

I'm not that unhappy with the team, and compared to others I haven't had the number of premium injuries. The main premo trades I've done (or had to do) are Danger, Cripps, Neale (twice), and Dunkley.

$384k in the bank, 6 trades... but still three upgrades! My dream of luxury trading Short and Daniher for someone better is long gone. Now I will be lucky to get a full team. Ranked #15,780 after Round 17.

DEF: Laird, Lloyd, Mills, Stewart, Short, Highmore (Bianco, Madden)

MID: Bontempelli, Macrae, Steele, Oliver, Miller, Walsh, Lyons, Bramble (Newcombe, J Sharp, H Sharp)

      RUC: Gawn, Grundy (Reeves)

FWD: Zorko, Ziebell, Dangerfield, Martin, Daniher, Waterman (Coleman-Jones, Brockman)

I started the year with Danger, Dunkley, Neale, and Cripps, traded them all out. Also brought in Impey pretty early until his injury. I held Grundy, but fell into the Reeves trap. Too many dud rookies who just never really paid off. I'm happy enough with my team but think I will fall a couple of trades short of where I could've been if I'd been a tiny bit smarter.

Have been trying to get in Ridley for a few weeks now, and would prioritise Dunkley when he's back and then the best Mid I can manage. Maybe Guthrie will be gettable.

Whitfield and Docherty in the backline is a worry though! Only 3 trades.

      Fingers are crossed :D

Also, TS is rolled over for the round

Nice going there Chief, a strong lineup and all things considered pretty good cover. I reckon you are certain to crack the top 1000 sooner rather than later.

Hopefully Madden fires on Friday night at D7 and you can hold trades this week.

Otherwise there are some decent sub $475k options for D6 or F6 if you trade out the Doch and keep 2 for later.

Ranked just behind you at 1328 but play for a cash league mainly. Will keep 5 trades for the finals and upgrade D6 and M8 if injuries stay away.

And thanks for your stats work, they are my main source of info for trading throughout the season. It's always good to beat people who subscribe to SC Gold.

yeah, keeping the powder dry this week. 3 trades are not enough heading into the finals for my cash league, so I'm really hoping to be able to hold them for the last 2 weeks :D

My team is a dead loss this year, too lazy in the set up stage pre season. I am not sure where the ideal place is to ask this question but I am curious why only half of the West Coast team is included in the Stats section. i.e. Luke Edwards is missing and when I just listed West Coast there were only 18 players.

Thank you for your help, the link you gave is working and curiously so is my usual link which is just to go directly to tooserious stats. I had not been able to find Luke Edwards for a few weeks and had searched WC out of curiosity, when the list came up short I was worried many others may be missing. I depend totally on tooserious and have for years so am delighted my gremlins are gone :)
