Neptune Island Noahs vs Mole Creek Glow-Worms I'm sure TTH has some stats to break out on us, but here is the 2023 Grand Final. The last meeting of these two was just 3 weeks ago, and it was the Noah's on 1548 whooping the Worms with 1206. This is a rematch of the 2022 Grand Final which Mole Creek won 1579 to Neptune Island's 1388.
The Noahs won the inaugural ORFFF title in 2016 in Drouin then as alluded to recently by coach @That KI Guy have since lost in the Big Dance to Maralinga 2018, Walpole 2019 and 2020, and to Mole Creek in 2022. Playing in their 6th Grand Final in 8 seasons which is remarkable feat in itself the Noahs are finally hosting one in front of their adoring home fans, while the Glowies @James84 are playing in their 3rd consecutive Grand Final as they seek to become the first ORFFF side to post three consecutive premierships and the first since the Noahs in 2016 to win a Grand Final as the away side. The all time finals record between the two sides is currently 1 apiece, as mentioned above. Mole Creek will move ahead of Walpole to sole #1 on 3 ORFFF flags if they prevail this season while the Noahs would make it a 3 way tie at the summit if they can secure a long awaited and hard earned second flag of their own. Betting markets may favour the Tasmanians by a bee's whisker but the pride of the Spencer Gulf are a canny, uncomprising and unapologetically ice-cold bunch who relish the highest of high stakes games and have set themselves to end the 2023 season by redeeming the repeated near misses of ORFFF seasons 2018 through 2022. May AFL selections on Thursday night be kind to both teams and may the 2023 ORFFF Grand Final be an absolutely epic high quality contest, now over to the coaches !
Well aaaaalrighty then! Noahs struttin into the big dance with this mob Def - Dawson, Brayshaw, Clark, Newman (McVee) Mid - Libba, Viney, Parker, Warner (Gresham) Ruck - Gawn Fwd - Flanders, Zorko, Moore, Henry (Daniher) IC - Drew, Gaff (Windhager) Libba returns from injury and Duncan takes a week of through suspension. Fisher stiff to not get a shot but too high sub risk. Good luck and fair play to you @James84 Cmon boys go hard and leave it all out there! Chum on!
Mole Creek go into our third Grand Final with some serious 2001 Essendon Vibes. Given the performances have been incredibly shaky recently, Danger moves to the interchange, and Perryman comes into his spot. Will Hayward is unlucky to be dropped and makes way for Paddy Dow. DEFENDERS Short, Saad, Rioli, Atkins (Williams) MIDFIELDERS Petracca, Laird, Kelly, McCluggage (Dangerfield) RUCKS Reeves FORWARDS Curnow, Greene, Heeney, Rankine (Rayner) INTERCHANGE Pendlebury, Perryman (Dow) Good luck @That KI Guy, looking forward to another good contest!
Half time at the Neptunes Noahs 783/8 (97) vs Worms 519/6 (86) Looks like the game is resting on the big boots of Curnow, Greene and Heeney. Can they turn it on and wrestle the Glowies back into the contest?
In a last ditch attempt to bridge the gap, @James84 has deployed his minions to immobilise Sam Taylor, thus gifting Charlie Curnow a 10 goal Coleman winning haul.
Rough calc Noahs 1372/14 vs Worms 867/10 Newman vs Curnow, Saad, Greene, Kelly, Perryman Noahs to lose from here but funny old game this one.
Noahs with the win! Noahs 1473 def Glow Worms 1256 The Glowies have battled valiantly but injuries and form have cobbled the minor premiers at the worst time. The Perryman/Dangerfield coin toss hurt but wouldn’t have been enough to putty over the cracks courtesy of Rankine, Rioli and Reeves. On the flip side, Neptune Island have continued their Uber consistent form over the past few weeks to run out another solid 4 quarter slog. Noahs GF BOG “The Big Jabber” 3 votes Viney 2 votes Flanders 1 vote Moore Hard Luck @James84, you’ve set a high benchmark for a number of years and no doubt many more to come.
Congrats @That KI Guy ! I really did mean it a few weeks ago when I said everyone else was playing for second cause the worms were so far ahead, but it turns out any team is beatable. The Noahs have also been consistently very good and the premiership is well deserved.
