It's a ding dong battle at the Terrordome this week with the shorthanded Blowflys fighting tooth and nail for this win against the visiting Huskies side throwing everything at them to get this important W and move into the ORFFU top 8.

The Huskies have finally ran out of puff but not without posting a competitive score the Blowflys are still working hard to chase down. As we approach the last 16th of this great tussle, it's all coming down to the performance of Korumburra's Dusty, Tim Kelly, Vlastuin (who just took the likely mark of the year) and half a Witherden who has been spotted glitching in and out of the struggling forward line Matrix as a supernatural last minute inclusion! This one is going down to the absolute wire!... @Wolffy84

Sorry for the lack of updates @insider but travelling overseas at the moment. Needless to say from the scores I could see the Dillos will take the points in this one.

Boston is slightly cool, no rain and will be slightly warm for Marathon Monday.
You could say it will be hotter than the P Dogs were over the weekend. ‍

Korumburra has finished off the match against Horsham strongly to run out victors in a close battle. Vlastuin and Kelly heroic for the home side down the final stretch when the game was balanced on a knife's edge. Good game @Wolffy84 Full match report to come...

Full time in the goldfields, and its been an interesting performance, although the result was predicted when the team sheets dropped.

    upload_2024-4-15_11-6-50.png

The home-town Prospectors took out an easy win over the visiting Anglers, who were clearly more interested in visiting their old stomping grounds just down the road, rather than playing a game of footy, with on 11 players fronting up for the match.

Coolgardie's much-vaunted backline was beaten by the boys formerly known as Southern Cross, with some solid performances by the home side well eclipsed by M Hinge, M Bergman, and J Bowes all raising the proverbial bat. The visitors defenders had clearly turned up to play - its just a shame for the coach that the rest of the side didn't get the memo!

The Prospector mids were licking their lips when they saw that the boys now from Exmouth failed to deliver a ruckman (although this may be because the definition of "ruck" is still being sought), and with O McInerney getting the only hands to the ball you'd think that it would be all one-way traffic. It wasn't quite though, with three tonnes from T Miller, C Serong, and O Wines things looked good, but J Aish put his boots on the wrong feet, and was seen tripping over everywhere. The visitors meanwhile coupled their no-ruck lineup with one less mid, and then when N Erasmus decided he also wanted to go sightseeing only a few minutes after the first bounce, it was left up to C Jones to do all the heavy lifting - its a good thing for his side that he was up to the task, scoring a tonne of his own.

The deplorable Coolgardie forward line was living up to expectations, until J Waterman decided to step up, plucking marks all over the place and slotting goals (and behinds) from all angles of the park. It was a sight to see and one the home fans hope to see a lot more of! (There were reports that even the opposition coach was cheering on Jakey to slot a few more goals). The undermanned Angler forward-line struggled with 3 below-average performances that the coach would rather forget - although they were probably just angry that they weren't getting the same support from their coach as Waterman was.

The benches were a disaster zone, with the home team watching J Short get injured early and play no further part in the game, also putting him in doubt for next week, while the visitors bench was a lonely place, with J Darling seen sitting there all by himself, practicing his dropped chestmarks.

This will be a match the visitors will rather forget, while the home side will just be happy to walk away with the win, and the encouraging perfomances by a couple of players.

    The Big Tap
O McInerney, Coolgardie won in a walk-over, with M Cox named in the sight-seeing group and not fronting up for the match.

    The Votes:
    3 - J Waterman, Coolgardie, 176
    2 - T Miller, Coolgardie, 133
    1 - C Serong, Coolgardie, 110

Next up sees the Anglers head back home to Exmouth and hoping to ward off a viral invasion from the Pakenham Parasites, while Coolgardie head out on the road (and boat) to King Island, to take on the Monarchs. Good luck to all four teams.

Great game @Mick. Thanks for the score updates towards the end of the round. Huskies are enjoying putting up a better fight to the top 8 teams than we have in previous seasons.

Blanchetown Bunyips 1079 Def by Serengeti Buffalos 1207

    @wrightbrendan

The Bunyips were buoyed by the return of Walsh this week and Horne-Francis finding some form. Unfortunately, the Buffalos came out to play and posted a very healthy score without blowing the Bunyips away.

One of the Bunyips founding members, Jim "the dominator" Styles turned 93 on the weekend of the match and a host of players paid tribute to the Bunyips legend:

    Horne- Francis - 93
    Atkins - 93
    Keays - 93
Toby Greene - 93 (SB) even though nobody invited to little prick to participate!

The Bunyip defenders pretty well dominated with only Houston posting a decent score and a potential short term injury to visiting defender Saad. The visiting forwards were just too good with Jezza Cameron posting a very handy 140 and having a day out kicking a bag.

    Big Tap - O'Brien 99 Def Draper 91

    BOG - Walsh - 166
    Cameron - 140
    Houston - 121

    Round 5
Cow Bay 1,218 def King Island 1,058

In another riveting match for the home crowd, the Cow Bay Crocs asserted their dominance on the field against the King Island Monarchs and took home the 4 points with a 168 point win.

Sheezel was the standout performer for the Crocs showcasing his defensive run and carry and put together a BOG effort with 159 points. He was ably supported by Mac Andrew (92) and Andrew McGrath (99).

Bolton demonstrated his midfield brilliance, leading the charge with an impressive score of 129. Youngster Hobbs provided valuable support with 81 points, further solidifying the Crocs' stronghold in the midfield.

In the forward line, Rankine proved to be a force to be reckoned with, adding 121 points.

For the Monarchs, Redman was best with a score of 105. Richards and Ainsworth also delivered decent performances putting together 98 and 101 points respectively. Kennedy struggled to carry the weight of the King Island midfield on his shoulders and scored 87.

    Vikings 1086 def Cormorants 824

The Vikings ventured to Carnamah for a round 5 clash that, on paper at least, appeared to be a lopsided contest. The Goliath Vikings possessing class on every line versus the David Cormorants full of inexperienced youth suggested that the fixture should be a forgone conclusion. However, as the early stages of the match unfolded onlookers were asking whether the Vikings had seen multiple black cats during their warm up as bad luck moment followed bad luck moment.
Petracca (59) and English (58) were clearly not themselves whilst poor Libba was left to do his best 3am drunk stumble impersonation following a head clash and a strange ambivalence from the medical staff to intervene. Taylor (13) fared even worse following a sickening blow that left him out cold and against a more impressive opposition alarm bells would have been sounding in the coach’s box.
Alas the Cormorants were unable to take advantage of the opposition’s misfortune with Fogarty (25), Hustwaite (30), Johnson (20) and Clark (2) barely sighted for the duration. There was some joy for the home team late in the match as number 1 draft pick Reid (108) put on a show for the crowd but it was too little too late with the unlucky Vikings doing just enough to take home the win.

Early on in The Crater the Buffaloes are looking sluggish. Draper is at least entertaining the faithful and keeping spirits high with some unusual antics

Not the highest quality affair but the home team are doing enough to keep their distance from the Rats.
    @choppers

    Serengeti 1077/14/77 v Bueng Kan 632/9/70

The visitors will be hoping Greenwood has caught a late flight and can make it for the last stanza of the matchup while the Buffaloes are running out of puff but holding on grimly
