Another narrow defeat for the Magpies. Need a few new additions for next year to provide more depth. I was happy to gain the services of Billy Dowling during the MSD, looks to be a star of the future. Hoping Finlay and Dean can get more games next year.?
The review of ORFFF round 16 thanks to Chat GPT Round 16 of the ORFFF was a rollercoaster, and the dust has settled with some surprising results that will make you laugh and scratch your head simultaneously! Heard Island Shags vs The Stony Ponys In a match-up that can only be described as an epic underdog story gone wildly awry, the Heard Island Shags were taken to the cleaners by The Stony Ponys. It’s like watching a cat try to box with a lion—brave but ultimately futile. The Shags must be questioning their life choices after being trounced 925 to 1451. If the Shags had been any more outclassed, they'd have been mistaken for a toddler’s art project. Black Swamp 29ers vs Sherwood Magpies This one was closer than a kangaroo in a phone booth. The Black Swamp 29ers narrowly edged out the Sherwood Magpies with a final score of 1202 to 1194. The Magpies might be singing the blues after this one, but hey, at least they’re not grounded—both teams have secured their spots in the 2024 finals. The 29ers probably feel like they’ve won the lottery without buying a ticket! Mt Thirsty Boozers vs Maralinga Atoms Mt Thirsty Boozers were on fire, pouring themselves a massive win over the Maralinga Atoms with a score of 1437 to 1043. If this game were a party, the Boozers would be the ones dancing on the tables, while the Atoms would be left sweeping up the confetti. Cheers to the Boozers for a performance that was clearly not just a happy hour fling! Drouin Dropbears vs Macquarie Island Whales The Drouin Dropbears managed to pull off a convincing victory against the Macquarie Island Whales, 1332 to 1244. It’s the kind of win that makes you think the Dropbears have been practicing their aim with a bit of precision. Whales are known for their size, but on this occasion, they were beached and struggling! Jan Juc Ducks vs Useless Loop Virgins In a game that had more quacks than a duck pond, the Useless Loop Virgins managed to float past the Jan Juc Ducks with a score of 1209 to 844. The Ducks seemed to be paddling in circles while the Virgins soared high, proving that even in the ORFFF, there are days when being useless is just the ticket to victory. Port Lincoln Power vs Neptune Island Noahs The Port Lincoln Power ran out of juice against the Neptune Island Noahs, falling short with a score of 1139 to 1249. It’s like watching a light bulb fizzle out in the middle of a blackout. The Noahs looked like they were building an ark while the Power were still trying to find the switch! Wedge Island White Pointers vs Rutherglen Fugitives The Wedge Island White Pointers showed their teeth and made a big splash by defeating the Rutherglen Fugitives 1222 to 1058. The Fugitives might be in hiding after this, as the White Pointers proved that when it comes to finning out the competition, they’re not to be trifled with. Nangkita Bucks vs Walpole Woylies The Walpole Woylies stomped their way to victory against the Nangkita Bucks with a score of 1399 to 1286. If this match were a carnival, the Woylies would be the rollercoaster ride that leaves everyone screaming in excitement, while the Bucks are left holding the cotton candy, trying to figure out what just happened. As the dust settles on this round, and with a round to go before finals the remainder of the ORFFF season is shaping up to be a festival of mayhem and hilarity. Hold onto your hats, folks, because it’s going to be a hellava ride from this point forward.
Thanks to @Vicwood and the Magpies for a fantastic game which the 29ers were fortunate to scrape together enough points in to finish ahead at the final siren. Several of the players social committee have had mixed feelings about the 29ers storming run home in season 2024 particularly when advised that they lost their deposit paid for post Round 17 Mad Monday celebrations which were booked after the teams 1-5 start after 6 rounds.
