Haha! There's an easy way to fix that, don't select me in the first round (please!)
Surely @JPK or @Mick deserve that honour...

I'm all for facing the top team in the first week of finals. If I can't win the Premiership, I may as well get kicked out in the first week and get a (slightly) better draft pick...

anyway @insider , what kind of idiot pick J Cripps in their side??? :p:p:p:p:p

Blanchetown Bunyips 1309 def Nuytsland Vikings 1305

What? Did you just read that right? Yes, a 4 point win to the underdogs.

In what started as a one sided affair, the Vikings travelled to Blanchetown with high confidence in getting a W. The Bunyips tried hard all day with most players scoring close to their averages. But their averages were never going to be enough against the mighty Vikings! Atkins was a late withdrawal and future SC hero Ralphsmith chipped in with a handy 49.

The Defenders in both teams scored pretty similar, the interchange bench was close too.

The ruck was dominated by English (139) vs ROB (115) giving the visitors good use of ball in the middle. Libba, Warner, Young and Scott all performed well against a below average outing from the homeside mids of LDU, JHF, Walsh and Dawson.

So this was going to be it, the homeside needed a hero, we needed someone to stand up, someone to rise about the rest!

Step forward the unlikely hero...... Ben Keays!! Kicking 5 goals and dominating around the ground for a career highest ever score of 158! That was what the Bunyips needed to snatch the win from the jaws of defeat.

    Rise, Sir Ben.

    BOG - Keays (158)
    English (139)
    Scott (125)

    Big Tap - English

The Buff returned home for round 19 after a 2 game road trip that had seen them extend their current winning streak to 4 and they were keen to turn that into a handul of wins.

Unfortunately the return home seemed to create an atmosphere of apathy around the club and the performance did not match that desire. It started from before the first bounce when club debutants Todd Goldstein (39) and Nathan Kreuger (24) were forgotten about and they subsequently put in efforts that showed their displeasure. Kreuger is reported to have been so upset that he gave up after quarter time and took no further part in the match. Without the presence of the 2 pronged big man approach, the rest of the team suffered greatly with Jack Viney (67), Lachie Neale (78) and pretty much the whole forward line producing confusing displays.

Thankfully for the home town crowd, the arrival of Harry Himmelberg during the mid-season break seems to have set the defence apart and the whole group were able to pull together despite the chaos going on around them and they dragged the team across the line against a flailing Monarchs outfit.

The outcome was looking starkly different when the likes of Richards (144), Swallow (116) & Hough (104) were putting in out of the box performances but when Macrae (8) & Maginness (25) were held back from entering the contest as the Buffaloes were ripe for the kill the matchup started to come alive. The result was sealed when Zac Fisher (38) did his own disappearing act towards the end of the match and Serengeti would go on to snatch a 9 point victory.

Heartbreak in Carnamah as Cormorants Go Down to Prospectors

Season 2024 has not gone according to plan for the Carnamah Cormorants but for a brief moment in the closing stages of the weekend’s round 19 clash with the Prospectors it seemed that some joy may be heading their way. Sadly it was not meant to be with the Coolgardie side hanging on for a 2 point win, 1310 vs 1308.

The game started positively for the Cormorants with Fogarty, Rachele, Reid, Meek and Day helping to establish an early lead. Sensing a possible upset brewing Ginnivan and Sicily ratcheted up the pressure and Weightman, Aliir and Wines provided able support.

As the last quarter began the Propectors’ superstar Serong displayed his class and single handedly set up a handy lead leaving the Cormorants in a 131 point hole. With time running out Wardlaw and Cincotta staged a last desperate bid to drag their team over the line only to fall agonisingly short.

I think its most appropriate to thank the Collingwood Football Club of October 2023 for the win, as the Prospectors probably couldn't have pulled it off without Jack Ginnivan!

Match Report: Cow Bay Crocs vs. Ararat Armadillos
In a thrilling encounter, the 2nd placed Crocs faced off against the 1st placed Armadillos, delivering an intense match that saw the Crocs emerge victorious with a total score of 1320 to the Armadillos' 1287. This defeat marked Ararat's first loss of the season, ending their hopes for an undefeated season - a feat no team has achieved yet.

From the start, Cow Bay showcased their defensive strength. Sheezel led the charge with an impressive 138 points, while Clark and McGrath added 113 and 114 points respectively.

In the midfield, Jones came in for his first game starting in the Cow Bay midfield and made a significant impact with 108 points, supported by solid performances from Worpel (87 points) and Hopper (88 points). De Goey contributed 90 points, highlighting the depth and versatility of the Crocs' midfield lineup.

The forward line was equally potent, with Moore scoring 106 points and Bolton adding 86 points. The Crocs' ability to score from multiple positions kept the Armadillos on the back foot.

Despite the loss, the Armadillos fought valiantly. Treloar was the standout player of the match, leading all scorers with an impressive 148 points. Brayshaw also delivered a strong performance with 137 points. In defense, Stewart was a key player for the Armadillos contributing 121 points. Rozee provided significant support from the interchange scoring 113 points.

The ruck contest was closely matched, with Moyle from the Crocs scoring 98 points and Jackson from the Armadillos scoring 96 points. This battle in the ruck was a pivotal aspect of the match.

Ultimately, Cow Bay's comprehensive team performance and strategic play ensured their narrow victory over Ararat. The win not only highlighted the Crocs' strengths but also marked a significant moment in the season as the Armadillos' bid for an undefeated season came to an end.

Groote Eylandt Barracudas 1,226 def Hughenden Prairie Dogs 1,131

The Cudas got the job done in the end winning by a comfortable 95 points to keep a top 4 position in the finals race.

There were some promising signs for Hughenden with Barrass (102), Ash (81) and Battle (89) holding down the defensive line but they allowed too much freedom to Zorko(129) and Bedford (92) who were able to score at will throughout the game.

The Barras would be pleased to see the midfield hit their straps with finals looming with Bont (122), Cripps (114) and Gulden (108) wreaking havoc out of the midfield with Grundy (72) easily outmatching the young P Dogs Ryan (15).

A closer game than Groote would have expected but their experienced players were able to get them the win with Hughenden’s playing group gradually paying closer to their potential. Hughenden hit the road this week visiting the goldfields with Groote home to the Whalers.

    BAFFU Awards

    3 Zorko (129) - GEB
    2 Bont (122) – GEB
    1 Rayner (122) - HPD

Big tap was a non event with Grundy (72) an easy winner over Ryan (15)
