The annual cumulative ORFFA premiership points update sees Venus Bay, Gariwerd, Gundagai and Lovely Banks rise up the standings while Iron Knob, Brirdsville, Nowhere Else and Wineglasas Bay shift downward.

For the second consecutive season Iron Knob recorded their worst ever season on all 3 measures (ladder, premiership points and aggregate points) while Birdsville, Nowhere Else and Nareewillock all recorded their worst ever season ladder and premiership points finishes.

Lovely Banks equalled and bettered their ladder and premiership points finish from 2019, respectively.

The 2021 ORFFA spoon belongs firmly to myself @anthak - forming a deluxe twin set along with the 2019 edition

The ORFFA all time ladder through 11 seasons saw swapping of spots from positions 7 through 15. Mt Beauty, Wagga Wagga, Marble Bar and Lovely Banks climb while Birdsville, Dunsborough, Charlie's Opening and Whitsundays move down.

Foul Bay failed to reach the 8 for the the first time ever while amazingly Dunsborough (formerly Nowhere Else) have finished 15th for 3 consecutive years, their only bottom 4 finishes, with the only other team to manage 3 straight ladder finishes in the same spot being the 2013-15 Hoppers wooden spoon trifecta.

Gariwerd, Foul Bay and Iron Knob held their all time ranking despite their best, worst and worst ever seasons respectively

Lovely Banks again reached their highest ladder position and broke their season points record

In 2021 the Nuffers won one game and had a points for of only 14,659

In 2022 the Nuffers won four games, won consecutive games for the first time in five years and had a points for of 18,160

So a 3,500 points for improvement in a single season - equivalent to an extra 194.4 points for per week or an extra 13 points per player per week.

This is encouraging progress, especially given there were about 10 players on the Nuffers list that either virtually didn't play a game this season (as rookies, due to injury or other reasons), or played less than a half dozen games.

Cull again, recruit again, go again.

The ORFFA all time ladder through 12 seasons saw swapping of spots aplenty with Cradle Mountain, Gundagai, Charlies Opening and Narewillock moved up the all time standings while Iron Knob, Gariwerd, Dunbsbourough and Larrikin Lagoon moved down

    upload_2023-8-9_11-44-38.png

Gundagai 23803 fell just shy of Foul Bay 24068 and Iron Knob 23862 2014 season tallies.

The Nuffers best ever season included a points tally tally better than Wineglass Bay 2013 (20657) and WhitSundays 2014 (20414) tallies and narrowly short of Lovely Banks 2022 (20706) tally meaning all teams have had a 1200 average season over the competition's 12 seasons.

The Nuffers 5th placed finish was better than Lovely Banks 2022 7th placed finish and WhitSundays 2014 and 2019 9th placed finish meaning 16 of the 18 teams have finished in the top 5.

Charlies Opening also scored their most points ever, highest ladder position and most wins and Mt Beauty also managed their most wins.

Iron Knob, Gariwerd and 2023 wooden spooner Dunsborough had their worst ever seasons

The Whitsundays remain the only team not to have reached the finals finishing 9th-15th in all 12 seasons

The ORFFA all time ladder through 13 seasons saw swapping of spots aplenty with Gundagai, Charlies Opening, Mt Beauty and Wineglass Bay moved up the all time standings while Iron Knob, Gariwerd, Wagga Wagga and the former Whitsundays side moved downwards.

    2024update.png

Charlie's Opening (equal best ladder position) and Birdsville (equal best ladder position) and Nareewillock (best ladder position and equal best wins) each had their best ever season.

Iron Knob had their worst ever season (2 wins from 15 games vs their previous worst 3 wins from 17 games and 16th out of 16 on the ladder vs their previous worst being 17th out of 18)

Nareewillock were the 6th side to win the ORFFA minor premiership while Iron Knob were the 7th side to collect the wooden spoon. These sides join Gundagai as the only 3 sides to have managed the minor premiers and wooden spooner double.

The first ever 15 game ORFFA home and away season predictably saw a number of sides post their lowest ever season aggregate while no side is realistically likely to set an all time best with 2 games less, going forward a 15 game season best/worst will have some merit or season scores can be converted to averages if preferred to measure relative season performance.

The above table is also saved in excel format (attached).

thanks mate, thats awesome. Very interesting that our minor premier and wooden spooner had both previously been wooden spooner and minor premier respectively.
Yes I think best/worst average score would be better than totals now that its a different length season.
