@YAD69 The Blanchetown Bunyips hosted the good men of Groote Eylandt for our round 3 clash. The Bunyips were glad to be back home to give the locals something to get excited about. Is the rebuild over? Time will tell. Unfortunately for the visitors a few players failed to turn up with zero players on the interchange bench and a missing defender. If it was a full strength team, it would have been a much closer affair. Zorko (135) and Libba (133) tried to lead the Barracudas but with a -3 performance from Harry Armstrong, they could not carry the load. Max Gawn's (88) horrible start to the season almost continued as he was almost toweled up by Archer Reid (86). Solid performances from Rowell (136), Watson (134) and Hardwick (114) were best in their lines with Atkins (105) scoring well off the bench. Big Tap - Gawn BOG - Rowell - 3pts Zorko - 2pts Watson - 1pt Next week the Bunyips are at home hosting the Cormorants whilst the Barracudas host the Bulls. Thanks for the score updates over the weekend @YAD69
Cormorants Claim Dour Victory to Cap Off 3-0 Start to Season Carnamah hosted Eden in a round 3 match up that failed to reach any great heights or perhaps even medium heights. Anyone holding game tape from the match up would be best advised to wrap it in alfoil and place it in a microwave set for 20 minutes. The defining factor in a forgettable game was the Cormorants' on ball brigade who found some much needed form. The first rotation of Meek (118), Ashcroft (136) and Day (103) dominated from the get go and when a breather was required Bryan (79) and Johnson (79) provided reliable support from the bench. Briggs (99) and Graham (85) fought hard for the visitors but they had very little support on a disappointing day for the Plovers. Carnamah now find themselves in unfamiliar territory holding a 3-0 record although that excitement is somewhat tempered by a scary injury to Rachele and the news that Meek, Day, Weddle and Bryan have been deregistered by the league for one week making a fourth straight victory doubtful. Carnamah 1134 def Eden 912 Votes 3- W. Ashcroft 2- Meek 1- Day Big Tap Meek (118) def Briggs (99)
Match report out of Pakenham Pakenham for the second week in a row had the pleasure of playing at home. Welcoming in the Anglers for a tough matchup. The match didn’t live up to the hype with Exmouth struggling to compete. Final scores Pakenham 1448 defeat Exmouth 917 Pakenham had a bunch of stars firing this week with Sinclair 162 leading the way, great scores from Darcy 125, Big Row 117, Anderson 109, Reid 106, Blicavs 104, Kemp 103, Rivers 101 and Cerra 98. Special mentions to Owens 93 and Idun 93. A very happy coach is pleased to see a return to form for a few of the Parasites. Exmouth had a couple of performers but not enough in the end. Great scores from Treacy 114 and Hinge 103 with Bergman 92 also fighting hard. To many passengers though for the Anglers to really challenge for the win. The ruck battle was won easily by Big Row 117 defeating the out of position Brockman 22 BOG 3: Sinclair 162. 2: Darcy 125, 1: Row 117
Bulls 1210 d Blowflys 972 A small slice of history took place at Mill Park over the weekend as the Bulls won their first 3 games of season for the first time against a 13.5 strong Blowfly outlook as the early season byes continue to wreck havoc across the FU. The contest was over early in the piece as the Bulls midfield and defence outplayed a lacklustre Blowfly outfit. For the visitors small man Daniel and every reliable Dunkley raised the bat, whilst McCluggage, Nankervis, Bowey and Whitfield saluted for the Bulls. Big Tap Nank d Xerri 123 to 89 3 H McCluggage SFB 2 T Nankervis SFB 1 a tie between Caleb Daniel KB & J Bowey SFB The Bulls will look to make it 4 in a row against the Barracudas, whilst the Blowflys will return home to take on King Island. @Mick
Round 3 - Ararat Armadillos vs Nutsyland Vikings The third week of a testing bye-filled schedule for all hasnt given a true reflection of where all teams sit moving through season 2025. Nevertheless, AA vs NV is always a closely fought affair. Rarely has there only been 2 Nuts-ylands showing up for the Vikings, but the balls werent bouncing their way. Humphrey (111) and Maric (123) were the only ones with eyes on the aggot, followed closely by the south american exchange student Garcia (99) who seems to be picking up the game quite well since he stopped snorting the boundary lines. Uncharacteristically let down by the midfield however, the visitors were going to find it tough with scores of 47 (Crouch & Scott) and 36 (Ashcroft). Schoenmaker didnt schoe up in the backline and Charlie Dean was ruled ineligible by having two first names, thereby leaving a donut shaped hole in the backline. The home side pounced on aforementioned hole with all the vigor of a pubescent boy, as Jackson (165), Miers (99) and Sanders (88) found their way to penetrate. In a blast from the past, a rare Double McDonald was fielded by the Dillos, with Luke and Tom both falling one short of a century. Rozee (64) couldnt get amongst it but his loss was Brayshaw's gain with the future captain putting out 131 to seal the victory for Ararat. Final score AA 1445 def NV 1046
Round 3 - Cow Bay 1,229 def Xmas Island 850 An improved performance from the Crocs in front of a noisy home crowd saw Cow Bay FC take home the 4 points with a 379 point win over the weekend. The coach was so pleased with seeing an improvement from the first 2 rounds that he took out the players for coffee and cake afterwards. Burgoyne (121), Noble (120), Rankine (119) were the best for the Crocs and didn't miss a beat all weekend. Clark (104) led all defenders while Hopper (92) and Taranto (94) pull their fingers out and won some contests in the middle. Mac Andrew (18) battled hard in the ruck but couldn't compete against a specialist ruck. McGrath (34) let his teammates down and had to pick up the coffee and cake tab at the end of the night. For the Smugglers, TDK (133) and Hewett (126) were the best 2 players on the ground and ruined the day a little for the home crowd. There was solid support from youngster NOD (104) but the young forward line and interchange bench just couldn't keep up with the opposition on the day. Big Tap Andrew (18) lost to TDK (133) BAFFU 3 TDK, 133, Xmas Island 2 Hewett, 126, Xmas Island 1 Burgoyne, 121, Cow Bay The win gives the Crocs their first win of 2025 and the Smugglers their second loss. Both teams now hold a 1-2 record.
Progress score from The Stadium. In a lack-lustre start to Rd4, mainly due to the inclement weather, The River Rats lead the visiting Crocs 2/128 to 1/79. @fresh
Update from The Stadium and not a lot eventuated today, except the River Rats have increased their lead over the visiting Crocs to 114, with the current score 3/209 to 2/95, thanks to Langdon scoring 81. However Cow Bay is preparing to come out tomorrow all guns blazing.. @fresh
The Buff have finally realised that the season has actually started and it's The Vikings who are having to cop the full force @bryzza Serengeti 741/7/106 v Nuytsland 500/8/63
Progress score from The Stadium and the visitors have taken the locals to the cleaners and are leading the home team 10/881 to 10/653. They had winners all over the ground with Sheezel 144,off a HB flank, displaying all the talent he possesses and well supported in the midfield by those partners in crime, Hopper and Taranto with 119 and 97, and then to top it all off, 22yo Paul Curtis up forward, kicking 2 snags in his 125..... Bueng Kan were beaten all over the field, but late inclusion Jeffrey with 80, had a solid game. @fresh
Full Time at The Stadium and Cow Bay have run out convincing winners over a very disappointing home side, 1253 -991. The Crocs had the ball on a string, evidenced by Wilkie 114 and Clark 101 in the last session, while the home side only had 1 player raise the bat, Sharman with 100. BOG: Sheezel 144, Curtis 125, Hopper 119 all COW. BIG TAP: Cameron 91 BKR @fresh
The Buff returned home on the back of a first win for season 2025 and were ready to take on the Vikings from Nuytsland to see if they could continue their winning ways on a home deck they opened the season 0-2 at. @bryzza The home fans were eagerly anticipating this matchup after an offseason that saw the two sides swap ruckmen and more than a few were starting to show their displeasure at the early season form of the Buffaloes ruck recruit. In stunning circumstances though, ex-Buffalo Sam Draper was named in the squad but showed no intention of lining up against his former teammates and refused to board the flight over to the Serengeti. Taking this as an intimidating aura that he had been emitting, Tim English (107) returned to some sembelance of form dominating Jordon Sweet (75) in the ruck and set the tone for a comprehensive victory across the park. Another ex-Viking, Toby Greene (149) also feasted on the lack-lustre Vikings this day and when Lachie Neale (130) Jeremy Cameron (105) and Josh Kelly (108) also showed returns to form there was not much of a contest to be had. The Vikings have longer term plans at hand than this one off contest and would be encouraged by the form of LAshcroft (87), Maric (88) and Powell (98) but by the end of this one-sided affair The Buff had posted their highest score since round 16 2021 and ran out 609 point winners. Final scores Serengeti 1452 defeated Nuytsland 843 BAFFU votes 3 Toby Greene 149 (SB) 2 Harry Himmelberg 124 (SB) 1 Steven May 123 (SB) Big Tap English 107 def Sweet 75 Next week Serengeti remain at home to enjoy their cushy start to the season with a 4th home game in the first 5 weeks and have home fans hoping that this new found form is a sign of things to come while the Vikings return back to the mainland to host the Crocs
Full Time at Eden Arena and the Plovers have gotten a nice win 1166 to Hughenden 963. There were some strong individual efforts in forward and back for the Prairie Dogs with Ash 130 and Thilthorpe 114. But a bit of confusion happened with Nate Caddy ending up at Cocora Beach, Clohesy and Berry were so worried that they scored under 20. KKP returned with 91 and Pendles found form, the break doing him good. Acres made a case for consideration in the 2s but I'll decide on Thursday, the returns have led to a good stacked selection table. Hughenden continue the tour to Exmouth next week whilst we try to continue our form in Horsham. Big Tap: Briggs 107 def Berry 15 BAFFU: Ash 3, Thilthorpe 2, Briggs 1
