Blanchetown Bunyips 1,406 def Hughenden Prairie Dogs 906

The Bunyips celebrated Easter with an easy 500 point win over a lacklustre Hughenden side.

The Bunyips smashed them all over the ground with Gawn (117) providing first use out of the midfield – Rowell (130), Walsh (107) and Dawson (113). The forwards taking full advantage - the strutting peacock JHF (94), Keays (94) and Silvagni (93) doing as they wanted. The onslaught didn’t stop there with drive out of the backline through Freijah (124) and the bench of Atkins (101) and Diacos (119) doing just as much damage.

You might be thinking Hughenden had less than 15 players due to the holidays, but you would be wrong - there were 15 pathetic, chocolate laden players pretending to participate in a game they supposedly know how to play at the elite level. The playing group has reached a new performance low and it will be a long season of disappointment for the fans.

Hughenden stay at home for round 7 taking on the visiting Cormorants and the Bunyips return home to take on the Plovers.

Gawn easily won the Big Tap.

Best for Bunyips - Rowell (130), Freijah (124) and Diacos (119)

Best for Hughenden – The bar tab

Full Time at Aslings Arena (may have finally come up with a good name for the ground) and Eden win 1128 to 1043.
Amon top scored with 152 and KKP was 2nd with 134. It'd be worth a look at last time we 3-2d in a game. It was still a spirited performance from the River Rats with 3 90+ scores including Darcy Cameron winning the ruck with 90. Cottrell proved to be a good bounce pick again with 89 and can either stay in the forward line or take Acres's spot in the midfield.

It could have gone choppers's way if not for poor kicking with his Saints forward trio all having a bad time of it. They'll need to improve next week as we also do because both of us are facing the top 2 scorers of last week, Eden vs Blanchetown and Bueng Kan vs Korumburra.

    BAFFU: Amon 3, KKP 2, ANB 1
Giant Tap: Cameron 90 def Briggs 27

    The Barracuda's finish on 1,359/15 90.6 defeated by the Blowflys @Mick on 1,416/15 94.4

Wow, talk about out of the blocks early, that was the visitors, looks like they were on some super shit. Daicos 38 possessions, young Nic Martin roaming off the wing, Vlastuin the interceptor and Xerri smashing the pill out of the gate. Mannagh had a day out tackling everything plus slotting 3 for good measure and Shiel looking for that contract extension. Perkins came in for the suspended Peatling, Steele got tagged by Bedford and the new Saad played the last 1 minute of the game.

With McGovern back to steady the defensive line there always hope even with a slow start. Weit took a knock to the right knee early in Q4, Lloydy was solid, The Magnificent Zorko did lots of work off the ball. Liba ran down everything, Corn Boy and Jarrod Flavoured Berry were solid. Grundy kept up with the younger, McLean and AstroNaught booted 3 in an attempt to claw back the gap. Sharp was nice off the wing and The Bont was back with 30 possessions and 2 in the middle.

The visitors started too hot, and the home team couldn’t catch them even with The Bont’s return, what a spoiler the Blowflys are. Thankfully the game was of a high standard and there were good signs from the Barracuda’s after injuries to key players, with Oh Errol still to get back after the break.

A great victory by the Blowflys on the road.

BOG – Daicos (KOR), Vlastuin (KOR) & The Bont (GEB)

Ararat 1309 def King Island 1200

With the roof closed at the KingDome, it was fast football with the forwards from both sides dominating. Kennedy (125) and Macrae (104) doing most of the damage for the home side, while it was Sanders (114) and Walker (100) going to work at the other end for the visitors. When Fisher went down with a hammy, Nash fired up the crowd by taking inspiration from 80s highlights videos and deciding to even things up by taking out Miers. The midfield was a tight battle, Flynn (141) dominating in the ruck while monarchs Richards (119) and Green (117) went head to head with dillos Brayshaw (120) and Rozee (103). In the end it was Ararat's depth that got them the win, with serious questions to be asked about King Island's call to not inject Jiath and Trainor into the game until late.

    Better late than never....
The Prospectors are on a losing run recently, with the Thaiboys coming to town putting another nail in the coffin. @choppers

The home side defence stood relatively tall, with N Wanganeen-Milera and J Sicily both topping the ton, while some solid scores from the Bueng Kan defenders, including a ton from J Jeffery, made it a tight comparative tussle, the Prospectors coming out on top by 45 points.

The Coolgardie mids were solid, again with two tons, from T Miller and C Serong, while O Wines and J O'Meara were serviceable. Conversely, the River Rats mids saw S Durham and E Langton top the ton, but C Hall and W Graham were both very disappointing, not even managing 100 points between them. This ultimately saw the home side on top by 51 points.

The rucks was where it all fell apart of the locals, with O McInerney being completely outplayed by opponent D Cameron, to the tune of 71 points.

Up forward was more of the same for the Prospectors, with lots of shots on goal, but none actually hitting the target, and a top score of 75. On the other side of the forward coin, J Simpkin topped the ton for the Rats, ably supported by M Wood and A Neal-Bullen, both in the nervous nineties, giving Bueng Kan a commanding forwardline win of 125 points.

The bench saw J Short turn up to play, another to top the ton, but no other player did better than average (although J Wehr scored well in the magoos). It was a 35 point win to the home side.

All of this added up to five Coolgardie hundreds and five Bueng Kan hundreds, but the consistency of the lesser lights got the visitors over the line by 65 points, 1218 to 1153.

Continuing the Coolgardie home losses was the team on constant Safari, making the trip across from the plains of the Serengeti to strike it rich in the WA Goldfields, and take home a solid, although unconvincing win. @wrightbrendan

Team selection will come into question for both coaches, with two emergency players topping the tone, Coolgardie's J Williams and Serengeti's J Viney, not to mention Prospector P Wright killing on return in the magoos, with 145 points. What were the coaches thinking???

Across the backline it was some solid but not spectacular performances from the locals, with no tons, but no-one below 74 points. On the flip side, visiting defender S May got tied up at immigration and missed the match, letting his side down. It resulted in two good, and two poor performances from the visitors, and a 69 point deficit across the backline.

The midfield battle was where it was at, with the visitors really coming to play. Three tons from Z Merrett, L Neale, and F Callaghan had the African's dancing to the beat of their own drum, after the aforementioned warm-up act of J Viney in the twos, while J Kelly also provided strong support with 82 points of his own. It was all too much for the Prospectors to handle, once again having T Miller and C Serong provide the spark, with a ton each, while O Wines and J McInerney provided the resistance of a witches hats, scoring 50-odd each. It must be said though, that O Wines really did put his heart into this match, maybe a little too much, and is now facing an uncertain future. The backline deficit was turned into midfield dominance for the visitors, with a whole extra player out there for a 96 point win across the line!

The ruck battle was tight, but not spectacular, with Buffalo T English scoring 90 points, pipping Prospector O McInerney on 88 points, by a measly 2 points.

The forward line saw home-town hero J Waterman come out with a bang, scoring four first-quarter snags on his way to 103 points. he was the only forward in the match to really take control (aside from the aforementioned J Williams and P Wright, who put on some goal-kicking displays of their own, but to no avail), with the remaining Prospector forwards looking on in awe, but not really contributing. At the other end of the proverbial ground, some bloke by the name of "Dangermouse" wound back a clock or two, while pretty-boy B Smith couldn't get the hair out of his eyes for long enough to put in much more than an average performance, and T Greene was seen karate-chopping his way around the field, intimidating everyone in sight, but not actually contributing anything to the visitors cause. In the end it was a tight one, with 14 points separating the two forward lines, in the home sides' favour.

The interchange was a sight, with J O'Meara and A Aliir both serviceable, C Mackenzie a shade below average, and S Powell-Pepper putting in a fantastic cameo performance for the tourists, nearly getting his name into the BOG list. The ups and downs of life on the bench saw the Buffalos on top, by 20 points.

Team selection could have changed this result, with either of the wasted tons by the home side being enough to give them the win, or conversely, the correct switch-a-roo from the Africans could have put this match well beyond doubt, and given us a new BOG. In the end the sides as named did their parts, and the Buffalos came out on top, by 35 points, 1228 to 1193.

    Bull Vikings Match Report
After a fortnight on the road footy returned to Mill Park as the Vikings looked to make it 11 in a row against their bunnines in the Bulls. Yes the Bulls hadn't defeated the Vikings since Round 9 in 2015. Following their pre season trade the teams were competing for the Isaac Heeney Perpetual Trophy.
The game was tight early but the Vikings began to eek out a lead as Taylor, Powell and a 3/4 Draper all saluted, in a battle of the half backs lines as Whitfield & Bowey roamed free and the match looked like being an easter classic as head Bull Newcombe dug in. Unfortunately for the Vikings their stand began to falter as 5 sub 50s scores put paid to any chance of making it 11 in a row. For the Bulls consistency has never been a theme however in 2025 they are starting to put that theory to bed an d as such they ran out winners on every line except for the bench.
At the end of the day it was the Bulls 1282 defeating the Vikings 1135 as the Bulls equally their best streak in the FU which dates back to the final 6 rounds of 2020 and busting a 10 year hoodoo against @bryzza Vikings.
Round 7 sees a desperate Vikings clan return home facing a 1 & 6 start against the Cudas, whilst the Bulls will starting raging favourites to set a club record 7 wins on the trot against the 18th placed Anglers.
