    So question:
Reckon its worth putting any premium players from Geelong, Carlton, Essendon as they have byes in the last 3 weeks of the season.

The only real prem for Ess is Watson, which isn't an issue as I wouldn't pick him anyway.

Carlton I really struggle with as that would be prelim finals time.
    Thinking Gibbs, Judd, Murphy.
Almost everyone will have gibbs, but it could be the difference in getting into that grand final or not.

    Thoughts?

Essendon no, because i don't reckon they have many possible premiums anyway. Carlton yes for Gibbs, and maybe Judd also, but i'd probably give the rest a miss. Geelong i reckon have a couple of under priced premiums, so i would say yes to Geelong players. Also, if you finish top 4, and win your first week, you skip the week that Geelong has it's bye.

Essendon has Paddy if you think he can run out a season!

I'd consider Ryder a legitimate ruck option but neither he nor Watson nor any other Bomber premium screams "PICK ME" over any other player.

Gibbs is the big one you'd probably have to put in your team and get coverage for.

Judd is a good option particularly if he's fit early in the season with the later bye, you might have a better coverage for him by then.

But covering both Gibbs and Judd later in the season starts to get tricky, particularly when you think there may not be too many cheap rookies around for downgrades, or straight swaps.

Geelong is a conundrum for me. They have players you'd love to put in your team at value prices, but I don't like having too many players who will be out with the bye at any stage in my season. Max out with the bye of my 22 I'd be wanting to keep to 2 in any given round (not sure how feasible this is)

    Great comment Lucas.
Just thinking tactics really. This bye is really throwing a few spanners into the works

Surely if your going for leagues you save heaps of trades for finals (6+)

Then you can do things like trade Gibbs if you feel you will lose with him on the pine.

Even better - get Ryder and trade him for r24, then you wont miss him (unlike Gibbs who you obviously miss for the GF if you trade him for the PF

    exactly what i was thinking.

In an overall sense. I am considering starting with Watson, and planning to trade him to GAJ after R9, so that I dont have to have a bye from either of them... but is Watson worth it?
sorry this is a bit off topic, ill start up my own topic...

You have to remember that if you plan around finals by skipping players who will miss, you may miss making the finals. If that makes sense?

Imagine Gibbs averages 120 this season and you didn't pick him because he misses round 23 and the next best defender is only averaging 105 (Assuming Goddard is the highest averaging defender at 130). That's 15 ppg you're missing out on until round 23. Same goes for Chapman in the forward line who will miss round 22.

Anything wrong with Murphy at Carlton that says he wont be premium again in 2011? I'm not aware of any injury, but I haven't looked into it much.
