hi everyone, Congrats on another great season. Fixture will be loaded as soon as I have opponent selections from the Top 4.
After the last couple years Gariwerd has had, I can’t believe we’ve finished this season with the same win-loss record as 4th. One more win and we’d be in the top-4 Makes me think about early season losses, like when I lost to the Uglies by 89 in round 10 and I had an OOP Rowston score just 2 points in the ruck. My rucks are going so much better now!
Well done on the season Ant. As for rucks - mine scored 60-something on the weekend and I was overjoyed!
haha yeah its all relative! I traded for Sean Darcy in the mid season break and since then across four rounds, my two rucks (Darcy and Sweet) have averaged 213.8 points between them. 5 of their 8 scores across this period have been 100+ including the 200 that Sweet scored. Compare this to the 4 rounds immediately prior to the mid-season break, where I was forced to play an OOP ruck in all 4 rounds and they averaged 20.3 points per round!

I kinda expected it would go like this, but (no offence to @chris88 Nuffas) I hoped the matchups would land based on ladder position... Now the Cockies are aiming to prove @snoz wrong and come up with the goods this week!

Poulter lit it up and then got subbed Spelunkers fly out of the gate with a 150 from The Bont, a 126 from Whitfield and a 6 from Hogan
He was awesome half way through the second and I was wishing we could loophole, but then he went missing and ended up being subbed. He’s sub most weeks. But I love the way he plays, and he’s still so young.
Apart from a couple of emergencies, the Cockies first players this weekend have just started their game. Chasing the Hoppers’ 452/6/75.3
Cradle Mountain Devils team for week 1 of the finals Out: T Greene (suspended), R Laird (managed), E Langdon (omitted) In: A Naughton, S Pendlebury, W Milera New: Wayne Milera (club debut for the Devils) Def: D Zorko, N Vlastuin, J Battle, W Milera (R Ginbey) Mid: J Steele, S Pendlebury, J Hopper, S Banks (E Langdon) Ruc: T English Fwd: J Elliot, R Maric, S Mannagh, A Naughton (P Wright) Int: T Nankervis, R Marshall (T McDonald) Cradle Mountain have made three changes for their week 1 home finals game against the Mount Beauty Uglies with the outs being forward Toby Greene (suspended), defender/midfielder Rory Laird (managed) and midfielder Ed Langdon (omitted). Inaugural Devil Scott Pendlebury returns to take his customary place in the midfield after being a late out for the Round 15 game against Charlies Opening due to a corky. After being selected with Cradle Mountain’s third selection at the 2025 mid-season draft defender Wayne Milera makes his club debut in this weekend’s final against the Uglies. Forward Aaron Naughton has been recalled to play his first game since Round 11, the round before the mid-season break. At Tassie State league level Naughton has been kicking bags of goals after the mid-season break and with Greene being out suspended the CMD match committee opted to roll the dice on the high-flying forward’s form translating to senior level. 2025 is the fifth season in a row that a mountain team has finished fourth on the ladder at the end of the ORFFA home and away season with the Cradle Mountain Devils finishing fourth in 2021 and 2025 and Mount Beauty Uglies finishing fourth in three consecutive seasons from 2022 to 2024. Fourth place at the end of the h & a season has been a very happy hunting ground for the ORFFA mountain teams with Cradle Mountain winning the premiership from fourth in 2021 and Mount Beauty Uglies winning back- to-back premierships from fourth in 2023 & 2024. This weekend is the fourth time this decade that Cradle Mountain and Mount Beauty have played each other in an ORFFA final. In each of the previous three finals mountain battles the home team that finished fourth at the end of the home and away season won the final between the two clubs with the victor having an average score of 1,488 points across these three games. Finals history between Cradle Mountain Devils and Mount Beauty Uglies 2021 FW 1 Cradle Mountain Devils (4) 1581 defeated Mount Beauty Uglies (6) 1296 by 285 points 2022 FW1 Mount Beauty Uglies (4) 1486 defeated Cradle Mountain Devils (6) 1234 by 254 points 2023 Prelim Mount Beauty Uglies (4) 1398 defeated Cradle Mountain Devils (8) 1359 by 39 points Despite losing four of their last six games of the 2025 ORFFA home and away season Cradle Mountain have finished fourth on the ladder to host a final for the first time since the first week of the finals in 2021. CMD have fond memories of this home finals match up as the Devils posted a club record finals score of 1,581 to defeat the Uglies by 296 points in the 2021 finals encounter. Cradle Mountain went on to win the 2021 premiership, peaking at the ideal time to score 1,400 points in each of their three finals. In 2025 Cradle Mountain and Mount Beauty finished the home and away season with identical records of 10 wins and five losses. The past three ORFFA premiers all finished with 10-5 records with 2022 premiers Gariwerd Cockatoos finishing sixth. The Uglies finished fifth on the ladder, ranked fifth for points for in the ORFFA in 2025 and are proven finals performers so the Devils expected that they would be the team that none of the top three chose as their preferred week 1 finals opponent, resulting in a Devils vs Uglies match-up. Mount Beauty can take confidence from winning their last two finals against the Devils in 2022 and 2023 and restricting CMD to their lowest score of the 2025 home and away season, 1,095 in a Round 9 loss to Mount Beauty by 278 points. Good luck with your Mount Beauty Uglies for this weekend’s final @bama.
Bold move to rest Rory Laird for the first week of the finals. The Devils coaches must be more confident than you’re letting on DMA
