BBU 11/1072 lead SFB 8/807 Still to come.... BBU: Dale Freijah Hardwick Watson SFB: Whitfield Coniglio Hill Wagner McCluggage Newcombe Ward
@martyg It all comes down to the lions hawks clash, injuries to Coniglio (21) & Wagner (40) have put the game firmly in the Bunyips grasp... can the Bulls engine room of McCluggage, Newcombe & Ward overcome Watson, Hardwick & a deficit of 153... cue the music, the Top Gun anthem seems apt and settle into some Sunday Night Footy as this one goes down as a potential FU classic! Bulls 1091 / 12 Bunyips 1244 /13
The yips have held on @martyg congrats mate! Bulls 1360 Bunyips 1391 Oh what could have been if Coniglio & Wagner didn't go down with injuries.
Great work on the updates everyone. A nice close battle too! Congratulations to @martyg and the Blanchetown Bunyips, on the 2025 ORFFU Premiership!
Congratulations @martyg great season by the Yips. Commiserations @tyze1 a great effort to get there, so close
The Battle lines were drawn, the penultimate battle was ready to commence from the two best sides in the ORFFU in 2025. The Blanchetown Bunyips to host the Staghorn Flat Bulls @tyze1 Well, the home side had overestimated the determination of the Bulls as they let Archie Roberts (101) have his own way from the very start.. "Who is this kid" was heard from a few of the locals and left the old boys scratching the beards wondering if an upset was on the cards. The homeside was quickly buoyed by Walsh's return (again) with a handy 105, but Acres left the locals wondering if this was a recruitment blunder. Daicos (59), Rowell (67) and Dale (71) had their minds on the post season trip and put in some of their lowest scores for the year. I minor miracle would be needed. The Bulls backline of Whitfield (176), Salem (125), Bowey (93) and Maynard (82) had the visitors in a perfect spot heading into the half time break. The homeside needed to rally and it was up to Gawn (137), Keays (131), Atkins (120), LDU (119) and the skipper Dawson (105) in the guts to do the heavy lifting. The visitors were still ahead with Luke Parker chiming in with a vintage 127... what could be done?? The 3rd qtr huddle was formed and it would need a bloody miracle to get it done. What happened next had to be witnessed in person. As one of the locals stated "even the sunshine's on a dogs arsehole some days" As Coniglio and Wagner were both struck with injuries and it was the homeside with their noses back in front thanks to Freijah's 100. The rest was history as the Bunyips won the match 1390 vs 1360. What a match. What a stressful way to spend a weekend. Thanks again @tyze1 for all the updates.
Congratulations to both coaches for reaching the finals, what a year it's been and to martyg well done on the win. It's no coincidence both coaches recruited well in securing Gawn and Heeney respectively.
